Flights from Europe to Dublin: the best tips from KAYAK users

Insights shared by verified travellers who flew the route from Europe to Dublin

Heathrow seems to have a lot of plane traffic so make sure you have a good cushion of time if you have connecting flights. I had a 2 hour layover but ended up having to run to make sure I got to the other gate in time.

If you’re doing a transfer speak to someone at the desk don’t use an automated kiosk
joshuaFlew with Aer LingusZRH-DUBJun 2025
Counter service is little late , need to reach airport early
Verified travelerFlew with Aer LingusNAP-DUBApr 2025
Make sure you have enough time on your connection because even though the gate agent in Naples assumed we would not clear customs in Dublin and we would just go gate to gate because we are on Air Lingus the whole way and we would clear customs in Los Angeles, but no, that was not the case we had an hour and 15 minutes and barely made it because it was a long walk off the jet way on a bus to the terminal a long walk until we got to immigration so they did put us through customs in Dublin and then we did not go through customs in Los Angeles.
KillianFlew with British AirwaysLCY-DUBMay 2025
Dublin airport a shambles when it comes to collecting luggage or getting a cab. Allow plenty of extra time.
Rita AnnFlew with Aer LingusAMS-DUBSept 2024
The gate is a long walk so go through security earlier rather than later. Loads of great shops and restaurants both land and air side.
ThomasFlew with Aer LingusLHR-DUBOct 2024
You will likely have to walk a lot more than you might expect to make a connection.
Verified travelerFlew with Aer LingusBCN-DUBAug 2024
Put an AirTag or other tracking device in your bag.
PaulFlew with RyanairCHQ-DUBJul 2024
Avoid Ryanair. The airport is tiny, buy water etc in duty free shops not restaurants they will charge you €5 for water
AnthonyFlew with Aer LingusACE-DUBApr 2024
Baggage checking was very slow over 30min with not a massive queue. Gate was very late to be announced and priority boarding with young child was overlooked due priority boarding queue being so long. Airport is nice with great amenities and facilities in the terminal, but long walks to gates if travelling with a young family.

The check in at Linate are diabolical. I would recommend online check in and carry on baggage only

Klm start boarding while somw air issue in the plan

I appreciate that KLM was proactive in informing me of the 2 hour delay which enabled me to replan my travel. It was a bit stressful not knowing whether my connection from Montreal to Ottawa was happening. But the ground and air crew did a good job at comforting and assuring me.

Cabin crew professional, polite and friendly, boarding was seemless, but come on KLM surely you can do better than a pack of cheesy biscuits as an inflight snack

Legroom not all it could be, especially when the seat in front is reclined. Otherwise it was good, food and beverage were nice.

You should not have to pay for WiFi in business class

Transfer at Amsterdam airport is very convenient and the airport is easy to navigate. Boarding was also quick and easy. Cabin crew were excellent and the meals were good, although lacking in options.

Overall very positive. Boarding was quick and organized. Cabin was clean and seats were reasonably comfortable. Cabin crew was excellent and the meals provided were also of good quality

This fight left ahead of time which meant it arrived early which was great. Staff were very professional, but as with all these Short hop Flights the food was a disappointing snack There was no entertainment on this flight, but I did not expect any

They only had vegetarian food left on the flight which I wasn’t happy about. I didn’t get any food to eat at all.

great crew, professional, funny, and great service. good condition plane too! great experience

It was great, used to fly them a lot back 20 years ago but since did KLM as my flight route changed, but very happy with my experience and will come again!

I really enjoyed how clean and big the aircraft was, as well as how friendly the crew was.

The Recaro seats are stiff and have minimal padding. Quite uncomfortable for a 5.5 hour flight. The upfront seats and space are identical to the ones in the back. The upgrade was not worth it.

The seats have no legroom. I was bruised on my knees for having them pressed up against the seat in front of me. Then I got food poisoning from the special meal I ordered. Pretty horrible all around.

Painful seats for a 10 hour flight. There’s a very hard flat board in the seat that goes up to half the back and after 7 hours it gets impossible to find the right position to avoid the pain.

Food could have been better. My pasta was microwaved into a solid block. Inedible.

OK experience except for the fact that I had to pay $100 for one checked in bag in Amsterdam, while it was supposed to be free like it was on the flight from LAX to AMS. I want SAS to reimburse me for this!

SAS is very good at service, the lounge was great, and flights were on time. Boarding is fast and efficient!

Very difficult to clearly hear the dialogue on videos due to airplane engine sound. Flying to Copenhagen audio was very clear. Food was excellent. Returning flight--Lunch and breakfast food was the worst I've experienced. Audio was terrible. Why the difference?

Very fast boarding. Crew members were super nice. I loved it!

My luggage got lost and until today there is no solution to the problem. It's still missing

I am writing to demand an immediate refund and compensation for the absolutely unacceptable experience I endured with VUELING this week. On Monday, my flight was canceled, and despite this, I have yet to receive any refund. I was then taken to a hotel in a terrible location, where no food or even water was provided. The next day, I was rebooked on another flight, for which I had to personally cover an additional €50 in transportation costs—only to have that flight canceled as well. After waiting 10 hours, only 10 of us were offered alternative accommodations, while the rest were left stranded. We were forced to remain in this situation until Thursday without a single explanation or proper assistance. During this entire ordeal, we were only provided with breakfast and dinner, while being charged extra for drinks. This level of treatment is completely unacceptable. I expect an immediate refund for the cancelled flights and full compensation for the inconvenience, additional expenses, and the significant distress caused.

Only food for sale. Did not even offer water. No entertainment

Checking was efficient and quick. Adequate luggage space. Food for purchase only at high prices

Nothing. There was no flight. They cancelled the flight with no replacement about 9 hours before takeoff.

The flight was canceled at the last minute. Alternative flight was booked after 6 hours wait in Malaga airport.

Boarding with some sense and communication. It was a total free-for-all everyone coming all at once, no organisation of row numbers or priority.

Horrible, flight cancelled and had to come back the next day

Terrible. For clarity - this was the Level flight to Boston. Not Vueling. Would urge customers to avoid this airline. Gate agent was singularly unhelpful. He was argumentative, rude and went out of his way to ensure that every penny was collected for the baggage (which we realized given how early we were for flight we could have saved hundreds of dollars if we checked in on app). No onboard entertainment or WiFi. Half of the front section was empty because the seats did not work! Plane was falling apart.

We booked a flight from FCO(Rome) with a stop over at DUB(Dublin) going to JFK. Boarding from Rome was kind of chaotic since the airport I guess is very small and we needed to shuttle to the airplane. The gate agent just let everyone and anyone go without using the sections so that took a lot longer than usual boarding. From drinking to JFk boarding was good and organized. Amazingly the flights was very smooth sailing and we’ve flown American big airplane to small companies before. The aircraft’s itself is on the older side, can’t complain tho because the plane ride wa smooth. For a 3 hour plane ride, nothing was complimentary. But for the longer leg of the plane complimentary snacks, meals and drinks were provided which was great. The food wasn’t bad either. I would fly with them again, great price and good service.

Comfortable trip , flight attendants professional as always. Only complaint was the food, We fly Aer Lingus frequently, this was the first time the quality of the meal was poor.

Everything went well. I made my connection which is always a concern.

I appteciate the very courteous staff. The flight was good. Something that wasn't good was that my bag was only checked as far as Dublin and I had a connecting flight to Vienna. (That was a mistake the ORD desk made.) Fortunately the desk at DUB was able to re-tag without me having to re-check in (which initially it seemed I might have to do.)

I had an awful experience at the ticketing agent stand. I had purchased three tickets, one of which I had the maiden name of a passenger on the ticket. They refused to help, assist, and actually delayed our process and had us miss an opportunity to purchase a ticket on the same flight. I was sent through multiple phone calls, none of which helped, and the person at the counter was the person who told me to both call Aer Lingus for help and was the person who said they could not fulfill my request that they were privy to from the beginning. My partner is still stuck in Scotland, racking up thousands of dollars in additional fees and tickets. I am very upset and two of my tickets went unused. I will never be using Aer Lingus ever again and I will continue to complain about them.

This was the most expensive economy flight per minute of flight time ever. But the quality was lacking. Extremely Aer Lingus rude staff at LHR said that the flight from London to Dublin (Ireland) was “NOT international.” Horrified at the colonial and imperial perspective. Seats were dirty with trash in seat pockets. Airline doesn’t clean or care about hygiene and safety.

When I booked the flight, I wasn't aware that this was a "no frills" flight. No wifi, no reclining seat, no complimentary soft drinks.

Charging for coffee on a business class fare??? And to not even mention it? Inexcusable. Boarding and disembarking was pathetic. Could not use a jetway on either end. Had to use stairs and walk across tarmac at origination and use stairs and be bussed to terminal at destination.

It was excellent! The plane left Chicago early. Arrived in Dublin early. The crew was excellent! It was a great experience.

The Nice airport was a horrible boarding experience. I have never experienced the kind of compressed mob (in the B12-B17 gate area) of people all unclear what was happening and no airport staff to assist. There was no signage and 1000’s of people waiting for any info for 2 hours.

All good. Loo’s weren’t great and as clean as i would like.

Fair, difficult to find the departure gate. Luggage delayed on arrival

Boarding market okay just because of the delay we had, but not related to the crew in any way…

They removed our booking without telling us. Cost us thousands to book last minute

We never made it onto this flight due to BA's lackluster organisation.

bad, made it to connecting flight and they didnt let me board

The payment system was not working so was unable to connect wifi the entire flight

Maybe a cultural thing but our "business class" seats were basic economy seats with the center seat blocked. I had to put 1 leg in the aisle and 1 under the middle seat footwell. I did not want the lunch and instead asked for some snack items. 10 minutes before landing and after asking again I was presented with 2 of the 3 items and a card reader. Apparently biz class does not entitle you to snacks instead of a meal. I declined. Boarding was a mess. Much standing in line because the various stages of the process were not coordinated. Checkin was chaotic and took a long time. Overall a fail, but we did get to Edinburgh. After doing a go around because we were too fast on final approach. Not impressed. Well, not favorably...

Dreadfully long wait for bags at Dublin coming off an already late flight.

Not the quality I was expecting from a company that has been around for ages and charges high prices
