Cons:
I used my credit card’s insurance guarantee, but nowhere in the reservation did it say that to do do ALSO required a letter from my credit card company stating (1) that they cover the Republic of Ireland, (2) they will cover the lace loss if totaled, and (3) the last 4 numbers of my cc account. So at the Europcar desk I had to make that phone call, wade through a few phone trees, then talk to a couple of humans. I did get the letter (great service by my cc bank!) but I was lucky - that approval process may take up to 24 hours. The Europcar desk agent said this happens “quite a bit” with the brokers because you don’t provide the information about what each rental car company requires to use the cc insurance waiver benefits. I suggest adding a link to your process that will take your to the specific rental car company page for their CDW. I did use the link provided for my rental but it did not say I would have to get the letter etc.7.6 Good

Pros:
The lines were really long with people complaining and not moving. The Payless personnel were in the same space as Budget and Avis and it was hard to tell the difference in who was working what. Eventually all personnel worked on the same long Payless line. Then the price of our car quadrupled.2.0 Mediocre

Did not disclose mandatory insurance that had to be purchased making the final rate $775 Euro. Much higher that what was quoted.Cons:

Cons:
The only thing that would be better is to have a map available in the car that shows more detail. The one we received wasn’t useful. Our cell phones drop service overseas so getting to our hotel and a phone sales location was difficult. Really not their responsibility, but nice nevertheless.2.0 Mediocre

Was told my total at booking was $120. After all the required ad ons and fees at pick up I paid over $500. Absolutely absurd and when I need a car for a week there’s nothing that can be done about it. Will never book with budget or Payless or this site again.6.6

Nov 2019
Pros:
Nice staff, didn't pressure upsell the insurance like I was worried about. Drop off in the city center was not as easy as expected, due to the lack of parking instructions. Value was outstanding.Cons:
Need to provide clear instructions that if you are dropping off at the lower Drumconda location, there are no parking spots in front of the office. You need to pull into a bus lane and park there, which isn't ideal, but workable.4.8 Okay

They try to rip you off on extra insurance. Concerned they’ve charged us extra. Have to keep an eye on what they actually charged. They did put a 5000€ hold on the card because we declined their insurance.9.2 Excellent

Pros:
Staff when doing the paperwork to pick-up the car more helpful & friendly. Staff at the actual car pickup lot less helpful & one a bit dismissive when you asked questions. Staff when dropping off the car a bit unfriendly & seemed a bit irritable.Cons:
If you are going to Ireland, do your homework about what your personal auto insurance will cover (call them & let them know where you are going) & also call your credit card company to see if they have primary or secondary insurance when renting the car because many credit card companies don't there6.4 Good

Pros:
the second car was very good. they helped us at the airport which was a better location. However, the agent that helped us was less than helpful. it needed to be clearer that if you didn't take their insurance they were going to put 7500 euros on your credit card. he was unwilling to provide options. In comparison we dealt with another company in glascow and they provided good alternatives with reasonable costs. A much better experience.Cons:
The first car they gave us was old and not in good working order. we returned it and got a much better, newer car that worked well.9.2 Excellent

Mark was the BEST!! We were sold an insurance policy from a 3rd party that ended up being invalid in Ireland...we never would have known without Mark! He brought it to our attention, helped us confirm this fact with the 3rd party, and helped facilitate our refund with them. Pros:
The car we eventually got kept working and did not break down - that is the only nice thing I can say.Cons:
The fact we were left standing outside at night for over and hour waiting on the shuttle service, that we were given a smaller car than that booked, that there were loads of extra charges we could do nothing about was appalling! No sprinkler in the car so could not wash windows! Problems dropping off car - no one at the return location. Lost so much time was late for my flight. Like others, what appeared to be a good deal was really not one. I will never use this company again!2.0 Mediocre
Jun 2018
Pros:
nothingCons:
Can't find shuttle pick-up easily and it's far away. Shuttle is cramped. Poor customer service provided by the booking staff. Poorly defined conditions of sale -- not easily known that if not picking up car within 2 hours then sale is forfeited and no negotiation to change this. Flight delay lead to the rental agreement being voided and no other cars available. Very rude. Hearing other poeple that were returning cars, definitely recommend getting extra insurance coverage because they were changed a lot for a scratch that may have been there -- they don't do 'walk arounds' on the cars so you can't prove if damage has already been done. Would NOT recommend to anyone.2.0 Mediocre
May 2018
Pros:
Nothing really. The rental car pickup is not really "at" the airport. Dierctions to where their shuttle picks you up are non-existent. They tried to get us to rent a GPS, they brought out 3, none worked properly. Didn't take the GPS off the bill. The car was not advertised properly. Too small, sure it could "hold" six people, but forget luggage. Will never rent from them again.6 locations in Dublin

Sep 2018
Cons:
My credit card covered rental insurance fully and Europcar asked for an email from my bank/credit card company before giving me the car. I had to call my credit card provider and have them send an email to Europcar. Pretty damn ridiculous. All told, I wasted three hours getting all this sorted, and even after I finally got them what they needed, they put a EURO 5,000 authorization charge on my account, an obscene amount for a one-week rental. Also: There's a 25 EURO airport surcharge that I was never made aware of, and a 35 EURO charge to travel into Northern Ireland, which I also wasn't made aware of until the time of payment. I recommend you book elsewhere, because a Google search tells me that not all car rental companies charge for traveling into Northern Ireland.4.4 Okay
Jul 2018
Pros:
The car was grey.Cons:
Upon arrival in Dublin we were shuttled to an outside airport location. The quoted vehicle was not available, altho we had reserved it several months ahead. In fact they said Dublin NEVER carries that model (a 9 passenger van). So we were given a smaller (7 pax) vehicle which was way too small for our 6 adults to enjoy for a week. The quoted price was 1/4 of what they ended up charging. We had insurance but they would not accept it and required we pay the Europcar offered policy. We have rented in many other countries without all the insurance demands. We would never have booked with them if the initial quote had been correct as other vendors had just what we wanted. Europcar is a real RIPOFF.6.8 Good

Some Dublin car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the hire price but not all of them. We recommend always be aware of your coverage when hiring a car in Dublin.
Keep in mind that car hire insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your hire. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a no-deductible option to your Dublin car hire.
