Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "Need to reduce waiting hours at gate"
Cons: "The seats could have been more comfortable. Lots of people were separated from their party because they refused to pay to book their seats. One man had two small children and his wife was seated in the rear section. Some common sense when organising seat allocation please!!"
Pros: "nothing canin was good"
Cons: "My wife was not allowed to board the flight. because her passport expires in april, we was told by ryanair in a phone call that this would not be a problem, then when she tried to board she was refused. thanks ryanair you cost us a lot of money and caused a lot of stress. you just lost another customer. why not make it clear that a person needs 90 days on their passport if you are going to enforce these purile rules."
Pros: "Ryanair is different...the crew sells perfume and lottery tickets during the flight."
Cons: "The board in BUD said flight was delayed...no gate info. Then I noticed people in the area frantically getting up...witching 5 min there was no gat to a message that said boarding...last call! We frantically got to our gate which was a large metal pole building...where we stood for 30 plus minutes."
Pros: "Getting to my destination safely and getting the heck off their plane!"
Cons: "Trip was Athens - Rome. We had an issue trying to check in online in Greece; it told us to bring our passports to the agent at the airport. We arrived at the airport 2 1/2 hrs before boarding time. After waiting in line the agent told us the check in was closed and we had to pay 55 Euros each JUST TO GET OUR BOARDING PASS. It’s paper with a bar code on it! And we had an issue checking in online. You’re supposed to check in with RyanAir 2 hrs before the plane leaves and we were 4 mins late by the time we waited in line and got to the agent. Nope, still had to pay for paper. Not to mention we had paid extra for priority check in at book. Sure felt like just a cash machine for them. Charge for water too. Awful awful company. I will never fly with them again."
Pros: "Just the Flight crew...They were ok..."
Cons: "They kept saying my suitcase didnot fit the overhead compartment. I saw so many people with the same size bag...that didnot pay. I flew from Rome to Greece, back to Rome and, Lisbon Back And forth. I will think twice next time...When I fly to Europe next year..Flying Ryanair."
Pros: "This flight issues were so plentiful they provided me with knowledge on how not to run an airline."
Cons: "5 X delays, Incompetent pilot, No organisation of ground crew 2.5hr late"
Pros: "Staff were fine."
Cons: "Paid for legroom, there was none!"
Cons: "very late"
Pros: "Late departure from Dublin as expected But it was 30 min, anyways the flight made up time and only arrived 5 minutes late. The staff were very helpful also"
Cons: "The new slimline seats are very uncomfortable when seated for anything longer than an hour, the cushioning is very light and the angle of the seat is not as comfortable as the old ryanair seats. Also there was a long delay in Ciampino at the baggage belts considering the airport was empty - i know this is more a problem with the Airport but ryanair would surely have enough pull to get this sorted."
Pros: "Once we boarded, we had to wait 45 minutes to take off. Apparently, there was a problem w/ air traffic control, but no one said anything until about 25 minutes of waiting."
Cons: "The flight crew in the cabin were very unfriendly and not the least bit helpful."
Pros: "Got home."
Cons: "They managed to mangle the queuing in the terminal, getting everybody on theit feet and I need the queue 20 minutes before boarding started and then have us standing in a queue on the stairs for ten minutes. The flight was delayed an hour or so, and pass Nebraska then asked to take their seats quickly as if they had caused the delay. The crew were tired but polite. Standard Ryanair fight, really, run for the airline’s convenience rather than the passengers’ comfort."
Cons: "When check in took place we were kept in a dark, cold, wet & windy covered area for about 10/15 minutes before being allowed to board the plane. This is really unacceptable in this day & age."
Pros: "Fell asleep and was not woken up. Good flight"
Cons: "Delayed take off 20 minutes late from Cork, now at STN, we stuck on the plane because the ladder and stairs to get off the plane are not ready?????? Do we blame Ryanair???? Second time I have had this excuse while flying with them!!!! Maybe this is what you get when you fly with an airline who cut corners and costs?????"
Pros: "The flight was comfortable enough for a short haul flight. Hostesses were fine I didn't have the need to deal with them tbh not very happy looking"
Cons: "Delayed. This happens so it's fine. We get to the gate to then have to load our own non priority bags on the baggage carriage ourselves with people pushing others off the back side (accidentally). That was not well orgakised at all. I don't understand why we have to pay to sit together? Seat here available to have people sit together. It's a terrible money making tool especially if you have older children who are nervous flyers it means you have no choice but to pay which is unfair"
Pros: "Boarded from gate beside the executive lounge."
Cons: "Ground staff made final boarding call too soon. Had to rush from the lounge only to find no passengers had left the terminal steps to walk to the plane to board."
Pros: "Had a quiet flight."
Cons: "Staff neds to learn to smile."
Pros: "The flights are good value and relatively comfortable."
Cons: "Due to mass cancellations we had days worrying if we were able to go on holiday our holiday or get the return flight home. They got the planes at the wrong gates so our flights were delayed for and hour, a passenger being sick very close to us was not moved away into a quieter area of the plane. Our luggage was damaged when we picked it up."
Pros: "Nothing about this trip went well."
Cons: "The flight was delayed, without any warning we were in line to board for over an hour before we were informed of the delay. Then after finally boarding, a passenger got into a verbal altercation with one of the crew members which was very unprofessional. During the flight there was terrible turbulence which cannot always be controlled however passengers were standing in the aisles and not instructed to return to their seats. Lastly the landing was the worst I have ever experienced and I travel fairly frequently. Overall nothing went well and I think you need to reevaluate your standards of professionalism."
Pros: "She was the most miserable and unfriendly person I have ever met! Why has she chosen a customer facing role?????"
Cons: "Air stewards, all very chatty amongst themselves but no time for their customers!!"
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "Awful service. Very uncomfortable seats. 0 air conditioner, I was wearing the entire flight. I asked for ice and they said not without the purchase of a drink. Water cost money. Never Ever ever recommending Ryanair."
Pros: "Flight was comfortable, from a flying point of view."
Cons: "The "preboarding method". Waiting standing up for an hour. Comfort on board is quite "Spartan", meaning not enough room for anything, no amenities for free, etc, etc..."
Pros: "The food options were pretty good."
Cons: "The seats didn't move back at all!!!"
Pros: "Nothing to brag about really"
Cons: "The plane was 30 mins late setting off. Food as an extra was terrible. And the seats are narrow and uncomfortable."
Pros: "Crew were competent and happy, not overworked, dour or dim."
Cons: "Big queues to board, followed by bus transfer to plane => first ones to stand in line at the last ones off the bus to board the plane. My fault really, but why encourage people to stand in a queue for 30 mins at all?"
Cons: "Was informed by an EXTREMELY rude employee when I came to check in that having my boarding pass printed would cost me 55 euros. I was perfectly willing to pay- I had not fully read all correspondence from Ryanair that warned me of this fact (my fault). My problem was with the extremely rude service. If I'm paying 55 euros for the service of printing a piece of paper, I expect it to be rendered with a little less active eye rolling. I also understand the need to discourage people from checking in at the counter to keep fares low, but this fee is not discouraging people- 10-20 euros would do that- 55 euros is clearly aimed to take advantage of people who do not frequently fly ryanair, or use mobile phone boarding passes (such as Americans with no service abroad). I'd suggest warning customers of this fact when they submit their original payment, where they are certain to see it. I often don't read correspondence suggesting I check in online because my phone is not capable of doing this and it's not a requirement of most airlines. If you truly want to avoid people checking in at the counter (and are not trying to just gauge people)- ensuring that people are informed of this fact by putting a notification where they are guarateed to see it (such as when they submit payment) would be more effective than a 55 euro fee."
Pros: "The steward was friendly."
Cons: "Low fare is an illusion. They forced customers to check in carryons that would have been qualified as carryon by other airlines. Any checked in bag cost $35 and there is absolutely no free check in bags. We ended up check in 3 bags for two of us. Service is super slow. In addition, if you are traveling to London, the airport they use is STN which is at least 1 and half hours from the City. There is no Uber available from that airport. Tax cost is $120+. As you can see, no matter how cheap the ticket might seem, it ends up to be very costly, no matter you are talking about money and time. Flight attendant was friendly but the Rome CIA airport service was horrible (that's where they fly out from). You first have to stay in a long slow line to get the check in bag invoice, take it to a payment counter where 3 out of 4 service people were on there phone texting while there is another long and slow line of travelers are waiting to make payment. We almost missed our flight despite the fact we got there 3 hours earlier."
Pros: "We got to Rome"
Cons: "Ryan was located at the farthest location away from the entrance in terminal 2. Then the gate was completely on the other side of the airport. 20 walk / run actually. We almost missed the flight, which boarded outside in the rain."
Cons: "Rude customer service"
Cons: "Comfort: No reclining seats. No seat pocket. the back of the headrest is an eye-sore and it is in-your-face for the entire flight. They have their advertisements there and there' no way to avoid seeing their ads. Boarding: I had priority boarding, but I could see chaos taking place . More importantly, there was a lady with serious mobility issues (she was old, limping and walking slowly) and nobody from the crew even spoke to her or offered to help as she was getting on or off the plane. I had to tell someone from the crew to get a wheelchair for her after she exited the plane. Upselling: disappointed. They even sell you scratch gamble games, they charge for water during the flight. Ticketing: they charge to print your boarding pass at the airport. I usually get a printed boarding pass at the airport, but stuck to just using my phone. Can not believe this experience. What kind of a airline is this?"
Pros: "Excellent throughout outward and inward journey's"
Cons: "The plane seemed incredibly old, like nothing I've seen before. They wanted to charge us 50 pounds to check in our luggage at the airport. I never received an email about needing to check in to the flight online. Luckily we arrived early enough to the airport for the customer service desk to let us know we only had 20 minutes to check in on our mobile devices. The landing of the plane was also the worst I have ever experienced. Everything was so unorganized and uncomfortable about this flight and airline. NEVER traveling with Ryanair and will recommend to all friends and family to avoid Ryanair."
Pros: "We had no problems with our flight"
Pros: "It's a cheap flight and I was only traveling with a carry on."
Cons: "I don't understand the mandatory online check-in. While traveling you don't always have wifi and it can complicate check-in. I paid 50 Euros to check-in at the airport. Boarding can also be a little chaotic between priority and other. It's not worth it to buy priority, it doesn't make much of a difference."
Pros: "Nothing I can think of."
Cons: "Flight was delayed by 3 hours. This affect our hotel and taxi arrangements severely. Also the baggage collection was extremey slow and painful with a wait of 1-2 hours."
Pros: "The ticket was cheap."
Cons: "We had a RT from Rome to Athens. When we returned we arrived at 11pm with a flight at 6am. I had intended to go to a hotel 0.2 mile away, but when we got there and I found out I had to pay a min $50 fee to the cab to leave the airport, I balked. We considered just waiting it out in the airport; until midnight when they suddenly cleared the airport of all the people waiting for transfers and had everyone wait outside on the sidewalk (no seating or anything). I was in shorts and it was 45F. Sigh. Both going to and coming from Athens boarding was more like a riot. I was told it was because Italians were hot blooded. Whatever. I awaited bloodshed. My mother is 73 and we had asked for assistance with boarding. We waited as people filled the hall, surrounded the podium, and slowly were shoved on board, and still no wheelchair or assistance. We kept being told to calm as the gate closed and the departure time passed. Eventually a very nice man got mom loaded like cargo and it was kind of fun, but I didn't get the impression that the airport or Ryanair were a particularly well oiled machine. As usual, arm + leg for baggage. No free drinks and teh entertainment was a non stop cavalcade of sales from the overhead of everything from perfume to lottery tickets. If I had a long trip in a city and wanted to take a short jump to a Ryanair city with my skivvies in my purse, this is a great airline. It's crappy in every way, but cheap. But, if you want a suitcase or food or a seat that doesn't worry you about it's cleanliness and give you leg cramps for weeks, pony up for the extra."
Cons: "1.5 hours late on board, but they kept insisting it was on time. Don't know if hey were trying to avoid some kind of delayed statistic, but we landed in Rome over an hour late."
Cons: "I tried to check in on line but because of their website was unable to. So we were charged 45 euro each for a boarding pass. That is unacceptable. I would not recommend this airline."
Pros: "There wasn't anything that stands out that made me happy."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed. We were asked to go to our gate at 18.55 and had to queue for 45 minutes before getting on the plane as it hadn't landed yet from the previous flight. No information was given regarding this. We got on the plane at about 8.10pm and it took off at 8.30pm, 50 minutes later than the squeduled time."
Pros: "That the plane didn't crash."
Cons: "Strict baggage rules, uninterested attendants"
Cons: "I arrived at the airport 2 hours early to make sure I had plenty of time to find my way around. I found out 45 minutes before my flight that it was delayed 5 hours. They apologized and offered us a $5 voucher for food/ non alcoholic beverage. $5 is like maybe 35% off a meal without a beverage. I wouldn't have even eaten there had it not been for the delay, so I ended up spending more money there to get some dinner. 7 hours in a small airport without things todo makes for a very long day. It also would have been nice if the airport had charging stations for your phone and electronic devices."
Cons: "The flight was okay with just a bit of delay which is normal. But I have to say I would never get on any Ryanair plane if the same pilot is in charge! Had the worst landing ever."
Cons: "Heading London from Ciampino aireport in Rome, i had to pay a fee of 50 euros as my bag seemed to be "too tall" my bag fitted perfectly in the Ryanair bag sample that all airpots have. This memeber of the staff (a man in the late 20s) said that although i brought my bag from London without a problem, in Rome he rules and if i do not pay the 50 euros i will not board the plane, his attitude was prepotent and unprofesional."
