Very quick trip from Southampton to Edinburgh Arrival a long way from baggage and up 3flights of stairs no lifts or escalators
The flight was more than 2 hours late
Cons: "The flight was cancelled and we were asked to leave the departures lounge. There were no Logan Air ground staff actually working so we relied in the customer services desk at the airport to give us direction on what to do, and we were told that we would be eligible for compensation. I have now been told ( almost 2 months later) that the flight was only delayed and not cancelled so we are not getting a compensation payout to cover the huge additional cost I had to spend to fly another airline to get me to Aberdeen. Awful customer service, unreliable flights"
Pros: "They are great at service and care of their passengers. Their staff always go out of their way to make sure of comfort. Loganair seems one of the few to still give a beverage and a snack with purchase of ticket (wonderful). I am super thankful of well trained staff and their knowledge on luggage and sizing on the smaller planes especially when traveling to and from larger planes. I never had any issues with being able to take my backpack on or being asked to check it as it carried my laptop & wallet...unlike other airlines of similar size running to & from SYY."
Cons: "That I could not find any Tunnocks Cream Wafers in a retail store to purchase after only the caramel wafers."
Pros: "Great service. Good food and drinks."
Pros: "great airport with great efficiency (Glasgow) wonderfully polite and friendly ticket agent"
Cons: "We were delayed by over four hours due to weather but still the flight that was supposed to leave after us got out before because they were more concerned about getting that flight out on time than the 20 people who had been waiting for hours. We ultimately got out about six hours late."
Pros: "Friendkiness"
Cons: "Nothing"
Pros: "The light attended to help me with problems from prior flight"
Cons: "The propeller plane is noisy and uncomfortable. But it made it to Stornoway. Strong crosswinds made it a tough landing. The pilots did a good job."
Pros: "The staff was reasonably pleasant"
Cons: "The flight was four hours late. There were no announcements so passengers waited in a cold, damp terminal area where there was active construction. The peopeller plane was noisy and there was no storage. They had to check my small bag and then left it on the wet tarmac where my clothes were stained. FLybe is notoriously bad. They certainly lived up to their reputation"
Pros: "I can't give 5 stars for food or entertainment, but on a hop like this no one should expect them. Coffee was fine. 5 overall"
Pros: "Very quick flight :)"
Pros: "Efficient and practical"
Cons: "Could always use a little more room"
Cons: "The person next to me was x and overflowing onto my area and leaning on me through the flight"
Pros: "Lunch was tasty. Crew was pleasant. Boarding was easy. Entertainment offered was excellent with a large range of things to watch/listen to. Flight was on time."
Cons: "Blankets were not offered to passengers, I was disappointed by this."
Pros: "The crew was very accommodating the blanket, pillow, ear phones and good were very nice."
Cons: "Going from Dublin to Madrid the seats weren't as comfortable and they didn't give any drinks or snacks"
Pros: "Seats are nice and comfy"
Cons: "Flight was late. Ground crew were atrocious and lost passengers and then insisted on counting the whole plane twice (as they got it wrong the first time). The flight was delayed by 4hrs in total and then Aerlingus denied compensation was due. Appalling performance"
Pros: "Comfort. Ease of travel."
Cons: "Inflight shopping range"
Pros: "Crew was very nice. Food was ok."
Cons: "Seats were not very comfortable."
Pros: "The crew did great - especially Rob!"
Cons: "Dublin airport - huge lines foe transfers"
Pros: "Pleasant cabin crew"
Cons: "Disembark down steps at back of plane onto tarmac then carry bags up two flights of steps, tiring and dangerous of falling"
Pros: "The ground staff at Heathrow were friendly"
Cons: "The old A320 is among the most uncomfortable planes imaginable, but the flight is short"
Pros: "The crew was friendly"
Cons: "There was a delay in getting us boarded. My main complaint is the length in the baggage reclaim. It should not have taken as long as it did. I gave low rating for entertainment because there wasn’t any, again it was a short flight. I did not have any of the onboard food."
Pros: "Very nice crew. Clean and comfortable plane. Good entertainment. Best food I ever had on a plane"
Cons: "Felt like it was very difficult to obtain water. Confusion with checking in at the gate"
Pros: "More comfortable than overseas flight"
Cons: "No snacks available without cost or drinks"
Pros: "Good food, that’s it!!"
Cons: "Entertainment system is very very poor. There was no tissue paper in the business class toilets on the return flight. The Aer Lingus reos in Orlando were rude and unhelpful. Sat in business class and the seats are very annoying. They adjust using a sensor pad and the slightest touch off it,your seat starts shifting. I’ve had better experiences in economy class with other airlines. I just think it’s laughable that Aer Lingus class themselves as a 4* airline"
Cons: "Extremely uncomfortable. The seats were too close together and not enough room, but overall the airline is great. Will travel with them again, but will travel business class next time."
Pros: "The Crew was lovely on the Transatlantic flight. The Dublin-HH crew was polite, one older lady was warm. Of course I would have like free wine, but I imagine many passengers might abuse the offer..."
Cons: "Narrow seats, not spacy feet place (fortunately a nice gentleman in the middle of us, 2 people, found a seat with more space - he was a very long and not too skinny man. Only 3 toilets for both isles of passengers on a TRANSATLANTIC flight."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "I needed to change my flight and was not able to access help from overseas- please have someone contact me so that we can arrange my return flight. Thank you, Diana diana@aliveanew.com"
Pros: "Really comfortable seat"
Cons: "Had to divert to Shannon due to fig. Bussed in FREEZING ancient vehicle to Cork"
Pros: "Friendly helpful crew"
Pros: "Seats, Service , food Everything was great"
Cons: "nothing"
Pros: "A replacement plane did not take hours to get set."
Cons: "Flight was delayed by 1 1/2 hours as another plane (Titan) was used as the scheduled plane was not operational."
Pros: "Friendly crew"
Cons: "Delayed by 30 minutes"
Pros: "Crew was pleasant. Food was OK and service too. Boarding was fine."
Cons: "The 4 hours wait before my connection, the extra security selection that got me all patted for the 2nd time."
Cons: "No coffee for breakfast and the food for breakfast"
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Everything"
Pros: "Lovely crew"
Cons: "Aer Lingus are always late departing, but it was a blessing this time as I'd have missed the connection otherwise!"
Pros: "Smooth and uneventful flight. Food was actually pretty decent, the beef stroganoff was decent. We were offered refreshments frequently and crew was friendly."
Cons: "The people behind me kept yanking on my seat back, making catching a few z's an impossibility. However, that's hardly the fault of the airline. Aircraft seemed a little old, but otherwise nothing extraordinary"
Pros: "Ahead of time"
Cons: "Last persons rubbish left in Seat pockets"
Pros: "The automated check in and baggage tagging using the kiosk was fantastic! Very professional flight attendants. Overall very comfortable. Great options for entertainment - and we didn't have to "pay as you go." Clearly covered in price of the flight. Same with luggage - love not having to pay separate bag charge. Much preferred over the "nickel-and-dime-you-to-death" approach of U.S. airlines!"
Pros: "Great service as usual"
Pros: "Plane was clean."
Cons: "Crowded and assigned to the back. Charge for a coffee and long bus wait."
Pros: "Punctuality and cost"
Pros: "Flight arrived on time."
Cons: "Check in line was very long--took over an hour. Entertainment screen did not function real well."
Pros: "I liked doing immigration in Dublin rather than Chicago, even though the process was lengthy. We couldn't understand why, having done the automated system, the process was virtually repeated at the immigration desk. Queues were very long."
Cons: "As above plus my husband's seat arm was broken. The inflight entertainment system was a joke. Back of seat screens fitted but not working. Very distant ceiling screens and only one working before the whole system failed. Not acceptable on a long flight."
Pros: "Very pleasant crew, the food was surprising good, excellent options for entertainment. One of the better budget airlines I have flown. I wouldn't hesitate to fly Aer Lingus again."
Cons: "As with all budget airlines, it felt very crowded when the person in front of me reclined their seat."
Pros: "Ahead of time"
Cons: "Nothing."
Pros: "The cabin staff were pleasant as we boarded."
Cons: "The food was mediocre at best. No attempt to bring around water or other drinks between food to encourage hydration. When I went back to the galley to seek some water, all 3 attendants were asleep - 2 even had blankets over their heads! It did not seem like they were particularly into providing a pleasant experience for passengers."
Cons: "Lunch was extra even though it was noon."
Pros: "Seating"
Cons: "Booked for British airways flight that was changed to aer lingus Food was terrible, had to pay for drinks and snacks, 1 meal within the first 2 hours on a 12 hour flight, then nothing after, no water unless you went to galley and asked for some. If I wanted aer lingus I would have booked with them, not nearly the same quality as British airways. I won't use them for long haul flights again"
Pros: "The crew was efficient and friendly."
Cons: "Once again, the arm rests do not lift. This makes it very difficult to get in and out of seats."
Pros: "Generally good service. Clean plane and friendly staff."
Cons: "Seat in front of me broke into a reclining position. Made the flight uncomfortable. Although nothing could be done to fix it during the flight, it might have been nice if they had offered me a perk for the trouble."
Pros: "Boarding was quick and efficient, the flight arrived 10 minutes early."
Cons: "There was no food or entertainment offered, aside from what you could purchase. But as it was a very short flight, this didn't make much of a difference for me. Overall, good short flight."
Pros: "The crew was nice."
Cons: "Headphone jack was weird, only worked in one side. Entertainment options were poor, and highly edited. My luggage was bent on the top when I got to Newark."
Pros: "Easy to book."
Cons: "Entertainment was outdated"
Cons: "Professional staff"
Cons: "There was no complimentary food at all not to mention about baverages and hot drinks. Te flight was pretty long, almost 3 hrs so I was expecting litlle bit more, especially after 8 hrs connecting flight."
Pros: "Fast flight with no issues"
Cons: "Check In- as the airport was so busy, I nearly missed my flight due to queuing in lines for long times and poor communication form airport staff as to priority boarding etc"
Cons: "The website. It kept going over the same thing and I couldn’t do what I wanted to."
Pros: "I liked getting off it he aircraft n Dublin."
Cons: "I didn't like that we were told the aircraft was ready to board at 8.30 pm and we were still stood waiting at 9.10 pm. I didn't like the staff's 'nobody cares, you're the last flight of the day' attitude, I didn't like we were late in but there was no apology for that, I didn't like that we got whiplash on landing, and I didn't like the apathetic manner that we were let off the aircraft. I realise it had been a long day, but it was for all of us. There were a lot of parents with very young children on that flight, so leaving them standing for 40 minutes to board just made them all fractious. By the time we boarded, those poor kids were beyond tired, so they were all crying. If Ruinair knew they were going to be late, there was no need to speed us towards a queue we'd be standing in for a good while after, they could have allowed the parents, kids and elderly to remain seated. All this did was serve to underline how little respect they treat their passengers with. Its unnecessary. ."
Cons: "This is the terrible airlines that we have ever experienced. It’s not organized at all. After booking the ticket, I didn’t say we have to check in 2 hours prior to not to get charged at the airport. When we stand at the encounter, everyone in line didn’t know this and had to turn around to get in the different line to pay for checking in. After that, we had to get back in a long line and the lady didn’t mentioned that she can check in our luggage’s. With that being said, we had to go back to other encounter to pay for checked in luggage. We paid almost $200 for checking in and luggage. How stupid is that? We and other customers in line all said we felt it’s the rip off. We come to Ireland for vacation and expected it would be welcome and nice. This turned us off. Never fly with this airlines again. Thumbs down!!!"
Cons: "Had to stand outside in rain & wind while waiting to board. Took a very long time to board. Very loud people. Excessively loud engine noise. Attendant made me open my window shade. Small seat did not recline. No seat pocket for magazine."
Pros: "The trip was smooth once we got a plane. Everything else was as ecpected."
Cons: "Delayed multiple times and finally departed 2 hours late. Interrupted a full day’s worth of travel plans."
Pros: "There is nothing to like about an airline that appears to have low fares and then nickel & dimes you for everything, typical bait-and-switch style of doing business."
Cons: "First of all, this airline needs to train their staff better. The gate agent I dealt with on a flight has no business in any field where she would be required to work with people. Second, this airline needs to get their s*@t together when it comes to baggage. I was humiliated (by the creature they hired for a gate agent) when I was forced off the boarding line and then demanded to pay 200 euros (cash only and in euros only) for carry-on luggage that was under the size and weight requirements, and had already flown, without incident, on numerous flights during the same trip. I filed a complaint with Ryanair and weeks later received a very passive, useless, response from some brain-dead individual in corporate I suppose. No one at Ryanair cared about the mafioso-type treatment my family and I, including my 80-year-old mother, received. Avoid this airline at all costs (literally and figuratively)! It will not save you money, or anything else. It will only cost you more!"
Cons: "We attempted to cancel our reservations more than a week before our trip because my husband was hospitalized. Not with the flu or a broken arm, but a major and serious life threatening illness we are still dealing with. We provided numerous documents as proof of the absolute dire situation and they denied the request over and over again. I get that the tickets were "non-refundable" but at least offer vouchers, credit, or be totally a stand-up company and refund the tickets. It wasn't buyers remorse, trust me, we would have preferred to be in Portugal, rather than sitting in a hospital hoping and praying for his recovery."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Treatment!"
Pros: "Price"
Cons: "Baggage policy"
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "How rude the crew members were and unhelpful."
Pros: "I got to my destination."
Cons: "We were charged almost 200 euros extra because we did not check in online (which we could not do because we had been traveling for 30 hours and did not have Wi-Fi in the air) and when we went to check in the receptionist was rude about the fact that we had not checked in, so we had to go across to a different counter to pay our fee, go back to check in at the first counter, and then was told we could not be seated together, when it turned out the flight was half empty. Besides all of this, the planes are not nice, you are only allowed one carry on (no personal item) and the seats are not comfortable. I thought we would save money but check in fees and ridiculous baggage fees made this flight cost more than a nicer airline."
Pros: "Can’t complain about £14 flights"
Pros: "Customer service was horrifying"
Cons: "Staff"
Pros: "Great service, friendly crew. Smooth flight"
Pros: "On time and friendly service"
Cons: "Hard landing was a bit worrisome"
Cons: "Flight cancelled just a day before departure."
Pros: "I like how inexpensive the flight was. This would make up for the other things had we not been seriously taken advantage when it came to our luggage!"
Cons: "We checked in online the night before our flight but didn't get a confirmation. We didn't think anything of it until we got to airport to find that we didn't show checked in, had to pay EXTRA to have our boarding passes printed off, and had to pay for EACH of our bags as well!! OH! And it's almost DOUBLE if you pay for it at the airport where you can weigh it then if you do it online! And take caution! Our bags that are considered carry on size are still too big for this airline do you will forced to check Them! This is obviously how they offset their inexpensive tickets! The cost of the ticket, once you add in all the other unexpected expenses in order to actually get on the flight, was NOT worth the "cheap" tickets we got! That's the only reason we decided to fly to Ireland while on our trip to the U.K. Had we known it would cost this much we never would have come to Ireland for two days!!"
Pros: "It was a quick flight"
Cons: "The employees were just as unhelpful flying to dublin as they were flying out of dublin. Simple questions were met with disdain and annoyance rather than polite answers. We went through 3 different people before finding out that we didn't need to go through any of them which the first person could have told us. By the way the first person was a customer service attendant and he swiftly moved us on to the next line to stand in which was completely unnecessary and a waste of everyone's time. I will never fly with ryanair again."
Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "This is the worst airline I have ever flown and I have been flying a long time. It was hot, cramped, both flights were late and they had us sitting on the plane. And, it really is not as cheap as it first appears with all the extra feeds."
Cons: "self service kiosks were not working in airport and we were told it would cost 50 pounds each to print boarding pass. We followed directions to try to print on our own by paying for expensive internet service at the airport but still were unable to view & print boarding passes. After talking to several rather unhelpful reps, someone at the Sky Desk made an exception to allow us "free" boarding passes. This was just after 2 people were charge full price (50L each for passes & full price to check luggage, after they didn't get promised email to check bags online) Cheap fares doesn't make up for frustration"
Cons: "Seats are too small and don't recline. There's no entertainment. We sat on the aircraft for a hour without any explanation on why we were waiting."
Pros: "I liked getting off the plane."
Cons: "Hidden fees after hidden fees... The lady at the check in counter said my bag was fine... At the gate they said it was to big and weighed too much. £50 Extra. I bought an exit row seat because I'm big guy. The seat belt didn't fit so I asked for an extension and the flight attendant got very snippy with me and said she would not give me an extension because of "safety reasons". (This has never been the case on any other airline I have flown.) She then very rudely said because of your rather large size we are going to have to move you to another seat where we can give you an extension. Like I said I know I'm a big guy but you don't have to so loud and rude about it. At least say it with a smile and some kindness... Wow. It was just uncomfortable and not a good feeling. Later when I got to sitting in my new seat, they came through with the convince cart (no free snacks or drinks, you pay for everything.) She nor the other attendent with her asked if we wanted and thing, if we were doing alright, nothing. Thank God it was only a 1.5 hour flight. So glad that experience is over."
Pros: "the flight crew was nice and friendly when they werent trying to sell you something."
Cons: "Ryanair is a bunch of criminals that prey on the Americans traveling abroad. Yes its a discount airline but my $18 flight turned into $150 after all the hidden fees were paid for. To charge a passenger 15 pounds each to print a boarding pass is absolutely ridiculous. Everyone else around us could use their phones as a boarding pass except for the traveling Americans who did not have access to a printer while on vacation is criminal. Lesson learned, I will never fly Ryanair again and will tell every American I know not to be blinded by their discount fare."
Cons: "We departed an hour late. The crew was very unprofessional. The landing wasn't good. Kept the light on."
Pros: "The efficiency of the crew"
Cons: "The flight was almost an hour late"
Pros: "The price of the ticket was less than the luggage cost"
Cons: "The boarding was a mess but that looks to be the airport not the airline but not telling what gate you need to be at till the last minute is just not a good idea"
Pros: "The price is great. Friendly crew."
Cons: "Delayed with no explanation. Chaotic boarding. Super cramped seats."
Cons: "four hour delay--missed my appointment"
Pros: "Cheap flight Pleasant flight attendants"
Cons: "Ended up missing flight because they said I didn't check in online. I did everything I was prompted to do (passport number, add a bag, etc), but apparently there was another button on the bottom of the webpage I had to scroll down and click. They wanted to charge us 45 euros each to check in onsite. The first person also said we didn't pay our baggage fee, which we did. Once we got things situated the doors were closed (even though the plane wasn't leaving for another 45 minutes) and they wouldn't let us through. They wanted to charge us 100 euros each to change to another flight, when the flight itself cost 39 euros. They wouldn't refund the baggage fee either! Apparently they can charge such a low ticket price because they get their money by scamming people out of it. When we finally DID get on a flight the next day, it was like an infomercial the whole way there...trying to sell people everything from water to watches. I would never suggest Ryanair to anyone."
Pros: "Really enjoyed my flight to London & back to Dublin with my Nieces"
Cons: "Would have loved it if there were some Irish stewards or stewardesses on board as it would have been easier to understand their accents and they tend to warmer & friendlier in their dealings with passengers"
Pros: "Quick trip from London to Dublin. Clean, new aircraft. Safe flight from start to finish."
Cons: "No complimentary water!"
Pros: "Friendly crew"
Cons: "The seats are to close to one another and gets unconfortable fast"
Pros: "No frills cheep short flight. Good enough"
Cons: "The comfort"
Cons: "No one knew where the boarding gate was."
Cons: "slow, disorganized check in. Boarding is hideous, I'd rather wait in a DMV line. Airline run as if consumer, and luggage, are to be avoided. I cannot understand why Anyone would fly them routinely."
Pros: "Cheap"
Cons: "Flight was delayed and no on was told"
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Did not know there was a 45 euro check in fee per person...never was advertised!"
Pros: "Cheap flight!"
Cons: "Tried to charge us for everything, including 15 pounds for printing a boarding pass. WiFi was only free for an hour at the airport, flight was delayed by two hours, plane lacked AC and was super cramped and hot. Boarding was also a mess."
Cons: "Problems with securing printed boarding passes (non EU) as could not print them ourselves at motel. Finally able to get them without charge after protest. Problem paying for checked bag online (did not go thru) so had to pay higher fee at airport. All this caused delay and rush to not miss flight. Not familiar with Ryan Air M.O. Not informed till 2 days before flight of online check in requirements. Not told could check in 30 days ahead-so could not print passes at home in US before travel. Did not know would have to enter and exit plane via stairs with large carry-on. Ryan Air should be more up front about extra charges incurred if you don't follow their protocol-esp. for first time users. Now know and will not fly with them again. Ended up costing as much or more than flying Aer Lingus Bristol to Dublin would have."
Cons: "The crew said there would not be drinks because of anticipated turbulence for the entire flight. There was NO turbulence."
Cons: "Boarding was delayed and took forever"
Pros: "We had been scared by other reviews, but this was not as bad as we'd read. There is no entertainment onboard, no food except for sale, and some luggage restrictions you need to take note of before you check in. Otherwise, quick smooth flight, friendly staff, luggage arrived, so overall fine experience."
Pros: "Friendly crew"
Cons: "Boarding was chaotic"
Pros: "If you are flying without luggage or carry-on, Ryan Air might be fore you."
Cons: "The airline charges a ridiculous amount for EVERYTHING! We bought our tickets and realized almost immediately that bags were not included. We tried to upgrade our ticket type to be inclusive of a bag, but took two hours to navigate their automated "customer service". Finally got through to a live person (which they charge for), they will allow you to upgrade the ticket if you bought through KAYAK. You have to purchase your bags separately, and 1 bag was significantly more than what our ticket costs. I contacted KAYAK roughly 5 hours after the original purchase, and they could do nothing because Ryan Air is a low cost carrier. It was cheaper buy Aer Lingus seats inclusive of luggage than to add luggage on Ryan Air. I will never fly Ryan Air again, and caution anyone trying to buy Ryan Air through KAYAK"
Pros: "We were unable to check bags in advance. Staff handled at bag drop."
