Initial flight to Denver was delayed causing us to miss our connection to RapidCity. Airline re-routed us to Billings given limited flight options to RapidCity. Spent over an hour on the phone once in Bilings(not counting the time my wife was on the phone while I was in the air) routed through multiple call centers only to be told that they couldn’t help and we’d need to email support. Fed up and stranded, I rented a car from Enterprise. Never again…

I rented a car two weeks ago to see my elderly mother in the hospital. A week later I had to return for her funeral as she passed away. The price of the rental was three times higher than it was when I rented from them the week before. The car was also dirty, and was definitely not cleaned to COVID standards. I had arrived late at night, so I did not have time to see the inside of the car until the next morning. I called the Hertz 1-800 number and they told me it was a Hertz Licensee Rental location and I would have to call the local number. I called and they told me the rates had gone up in the last week (almost 60%!?). Hertz also said they did not have a bereavement policy. On the call, I told the employee about the car being dirty and he said they would check into it. I never received a call back from Hertz. When I returned the car on April 17 two employees were behind the counter. They told me the same thing about the price increase, and when I told them about the interior of the car being dirty they both said "oh I know who that was". Evidently, there had been several complaints recently regarding the cleanliness of their cars, and all the complaints had been cleaned by the same employee. I continued my check out and left to catch my flight home. I would like to thank the two employees who checked me out as they both told me their condolences. They were also helpful in making notes in the computer regarding my complaint. I do realize there was nothing they could do, as neither was the owner.

The inside of the front windshield was so dirty that the car was not drivable when facing directly towards the sun. I had to get a cloth and wash the inside before I could drive. This is a severe safety matter.

We had paid for Sirrius radio but it was not available in our car. Enterprise was quick to credit us back the cost quickly upon having it reported to them.

Cons:

I feel like we were set up to pay more for this rental from the start. I clearly marked we would only need it for one day, but by the time we got to the drop-off location, it was closed until the following Tuesday (2 extra days). I could not find any information on how to drop off the car to meet up deadline, and when I called Enterprise, they weren't open. Also, the pick up agent was trying to claim we caused hail damage, but I didn't drive through or have any hail during when I had the car. Thank god I didn't drop it off without someone there, because who knows what else they would've tried to pull on us. Now, I've been charged for 3 days & the damage to the car I didn't do. And I will likely never rent from this company again.

Cons:

Picked enterprise because of Riverwalk location. Day before pickup, I called to confirm, and found out car was at a location that was a $13 Uber from our hotel. Added at least another $26 to rental cost.

Vehicle was filthy when I picked it up, I never got a receipt when I checked out and very disorganized process for renting. Keys lying all over the counter and staff acts like it’s their first day on the job trying to find your records and navigate the computer. Also pricing was not what was quoted on website.

I didn’t like anything. I asked for a full size car. I was given a mustang convertible. I asked about why that car. I was told that’s what my manager told me to give you. Why would people in their 70’s want a two door convertible? It was so small we had to put two suitcases in the back seat. The car sat extremely low and we had a hard time getting in and out of the vehicle. The back tires should have been replaced. We prayed every morning that the tires would make the trip from Rapid City, SD to Fresno, CA. Also at traffic lights when stopped the car kept wanting to stall out. I feel like there was no need for a convertible in South Dakota and the manager wanted to get rid of it. I feel like National should be paying me the $4700.00 I paid National for me moving the car for them. Never again. Going to use Hertz next time.
