Two issues that could have been handled better at the time of pickup. Issue (1) - Budget adds an additonal $200.00 over the cost of the rental agreement. So, a rental of $377.00 appeared on my credit card as a pending charge of $577.00. There was no mention of this additonal $200.00 at the time of pickup. I questioned the additional $200.00 charge when I returned the car. The rental attendant advised the $200.00 would be removed when the contract was closed out. This should have been mentioned at the time of renting the car. Issue (2) - There was no owner's manual in the vehicle I rented. And there were no labels anywhere in or on the vehicle indicating the gasoline octane rating required by the vehicle. Google searches advised some models of this vehicle used 87 octane and other models required 89 octane. Again, nothing on the vehicle indicated the specific model of the vehicle I rented. There should have been an owner's manual in the vehicle and there should have been labels indicating the gasoline octane required by the vehicle.Reviewed 20 Aug 2024

Budget service in Naples was all brilliant, I can’t fault them at all. The Prius was very uncomfortable so I don’t know if I should have moved the seat but after a five hour drive my hip really hurtReviewed 21 Apr 2024

I booked a $112 reservation using my phone for 2 pm. I arrived 12:45 pm to pick up the rental. Instead of telling me, the attendant charges an $87 hourly rental fee for picking up before 2 pm. The attendant never mentions the charge just says he wasn’t expecting me until 2 and the proceeds to generate the paperwork without disclosing the additional fee. I sign without carefully reading the estimated charges (entirely my fault) which the drop-off agent pointed out and told me to contact the pick-up agent to dispute the penalty for checking in early. Of course you are re-routed when trying to reach the location and customer service just robotically responds there is nothing can be done. Usually, rental companies are upfront about charges. I feel deceived. I have never experienced this before and have rented cars for years. Buyer beware. My $112 rental tended up being $287.Reviewed 31 Dec 2023

Pros:Neither pick up or drop off was great. The worse is that instead of getting the compact car I requested, I had to drive a SUV (1st time doing so) for 3 days, several hundred miles. And had to wait for 10 minutes to turn car over at airport when done. Also couldn't get tail gate to lift, finally did but not easy. Ad car was only 3/4 full...Cons:See above.Reviewed 13 Apr 2021

Cons:The pickup was confusing. Budget didn't have their own booth in the pickup lot. It tooks some time to find out it was at another companies booth. Other than that everything was great.Reviewed 17 Mar 2021

Pros:The vehicle was niceCons:Budget Car Rental in Naples, FL took advantage and ripped me off. I booked a reservation at a cost of $85.05. When I picked the car up, I asked if it would be possible to change the drop off location since it was an hour and a half from where I live. I said I didn’t mind paying a little more to get a closer drop-off. He said he could change the location but the reservation was locked in and he would have to cancel and redo the reservation. I said (exact wording) “that would be fine if he could change the drop-off location”. Normally I would have caught what he did right away, but I was there in a panic because my father was in Hospice dying and I just wanted to get there to be with him. I was visibly upset and crying. He re-did the reservation, he charged me $100 more but at that point, I thought the drop-off location had been changed, (Again I should have noticed this before I left the office or car lot but I was just too upset). He apparently traded my unlimited mileage vehicle for one that charges mileage (I was traveling from Naples, FL to Crystal River, FL (260 miles). He deleted my additional collision coverage as well as put me in an entirely different vehicle which I took as a free upgrade as they do when there is no car available on the lot. The agent did not do the one thing I requested - change the drop off location. He should have known there was no other drop-off location in our area before he canceled the 1st reservation – after all that is his job, isn't it? I realized what happened when I got to Hospice, I called customer service they said we can't help you, you signed the paperwork agreeing. I explained the entire situation, that I was extremely distraught; they basically said too bad. When I got to the other end I asked the agent where I dropped the car off if there was anything he could do, he said NO. I travel a lot; I have rented cars from Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, and National where every kind of problem has arisen over the years, domestically and internationally and they have always worked hard to accommodate me in whatever way they can. It wasn’t that Budget wasn’t able to change the drop-off location, I booked it that way by mistake, that part was 100% my fault - but it's what they did when I asked “if” they could get me a closer drop-off location. I WILL NEVER USE BUDGET AGAIN! THE AGENT DID WRONG AND IT WAS OBVIOUS - BUDGET’S CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST DIDN'T CARE, I paid $100 more and the agent did not give me the one thing I asked for. Lesson learned.Reviewed 4 Feb 2021
