Pros: Breakfast is very good value for money. Plenty of choice & particularly love the scrambled egg, bacon, sausage & salmon. Wonderful to sit out on the balcony during the warm weather. Extremely comfortable beds. Unbeatable view. Very professional and friendly staff. Very well stocked mini bar.
Cons: We always hate it when it's time to leave.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was an absolute dream to visit during our one night stay en route to the French Riviera. The building is an architectural marvel and carries all the charm you could ever expect from a boutique property in France. The amenities, staff, and room alike lived up to the highest standards and left us in complete admiration. Albeit the city itself likely won’t ever make it on our top list of recommendations to any future travellers, this property was spectacular and definitely a gem to be commended.
Cons: We did have drainage issue in the shower, leaving it to overflow rather quickly, and the wifi signal was extremely weak within the room itself. However, these were minor issues and only mentioned to assist with management in rectifying the issues for other guests and don’t reflect our image of the property in the slightest.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great spa.
Cons: Bar was understocked and very quiet, sometimes not even staffed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable. Nice spa. Super calm.
Cons: The bar was supposed to close at midnight and last order was at 11:30 pm. We arrived at 11:28 pm and everything was already close.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the bustle and restaurants and shopping of Vieux Port but in a quiet and secluded street. It has a spa which is great for relaxing, fabulous breakfast, great staff and good quality snacking if you are not up to going out for dinner. It’s an old characterful building with understated modern rooms.
Cons: There are no views from the hotel and I didn’t find a lounge but there is an outside patio which is great in the spring and summer and the rest of this very comfortable and stylish hotel in a vibrant city makes up for it
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Full marks to the architects who turns this 19th century townhouse into a contemporary hotel. So many architects would have ruined the character to maximize profits, but here they took full advantage of the building’s character, while giving it all the style you want in a modern design hotel. The service was friendly and professional - the staff seemed genuinely enthusiastic to be working there and were keen to tell us about the hotel’s history and conversion. The breakfast and bar are superb and the spa in her basement is brilliantly designed. Only a short walk from the hotel to all the bits of Marseille you could want to see! Our room was big, with high ceilings and a great bathroom (the shower had room for six people - not that we availed ourself of that opportunity!), and the toiletries from Hermès were a nice touch. We didn’t get to use the private island as we were only there for a night, but that’s just another reason to return, isn’t it? All in all a lovely experience.
Cons: No big deal, but pricing that doesn’t include breakfast is always irritating, particularly at this level.
7.1 Good
Pros: Did not live up to expectation as not very clean and not well maintained.
Cons: 1st room had a strong smell of urine and we were not ordered an alternative. Instead we were forced to upgrade.
Overview Reviews
The epitome of luxury, this grand hotel occupies a striking building adjacent to Marseille’s historic Panier district. You can enjoy a pastis aperitif on the terrace with views of Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica, before dining on Mediterranean dishes in the Michelin-starred Alcyone restaurant. Work out in the fitness room, swim in the indoor pool, or unwind with a treatment in the chic SPA by Clarins. Five minutes’ walk away, boats line the quay of the Vieux-Port, in the heart of the city.
7.5 Good
Pros: Sorrounding, view, the harbor and Basilique- Notre-Dame. Was magnificent.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff in the bar, reception, brasserie and housekeeping were all wonderful
Cons: The bed was too hard
7.0 Good
Pros: The interior of the room was lovely.
Cons: I was put in a room with a view to the back alley where people were drunkenly screaming off and on all night. I realize that my rate for the room was excellent for this hotel but the location of the room was an abomination.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Locación, serviceall
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was immaculate and very well equiped. The staff were very pleasent and helpful and always available. The hotel was out of my normal pay range. But was worth every penny (cent).
Cons: I didn't feel safe after dark away from the hotel. I always felt there was a potential for trouble, but actually saw any.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super clean and very large room compared to other french hotels. Extremely delicious breakfast!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous spot tucked into the hillside. Spacious rooms with private balconies. Everything a guest could desire and more. Several areas to sit and take in the views. Gracious staff, chef delivers a wonderfully delicate meal with expected French attention to taste and presentation. Coming back again next year!
Cons: Private, quiet area away from larger tourist locations. Hotel is less then 2 years old. Wonderful modern touches with a thoughtful layout of the property. Staff are very attentive and knowledgeable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The best tub and shower I ha e encountered in a long tome
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location!
Cons: Room temp. control and Bath/Shower Temp. very low. Almost like outside pool temp.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Hotel service was outstanding. We had a traveling delema and hotel took care of it immediately.
Cons: Food in restaurant very expensive
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful building in a superb location. Good facilities, clean, airy and comfortable.
Cons: When one pays for three people to stay ( two adults, one child) it behoves the hotel to provide facilities such as towels, cups, glasses etc for three without having to ask. In addition, the WiFi did not work throughout our two day-day stay. Eventually told of an alternative conference / meeting WiFi and password, which still didn’t work in our room meaning the only alternative was to work in the lobby. Finally, noisy staff chatting and moving furniture around in the early hours of the morning below our room are not conducive to a good night’s sleep!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Room Wonderful view Great staff
Cons: Restaurant dinner (9 course) was over priced and pretentious
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view from my room was spectacular! Actually I had choices between 2 rooms, we pick the 2nd room because the 1st room was missing the safe's key
Cons: The last 2 turns getting to the hotel was super tight! I scraped my passenger's side rear view mirror leaving the hotel. Then again, it could be that I'm not that good of a driver
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location by the sea, excellent service and homey atmosphere!
Cons: What’s not to like!
7.5 Good
Pros: One of the nicest hotel rooms ever, anywhere. The view & the crashing waves. 100% restorative!
9.2 Excellent
Cons: I had hoped, and specifically asked, for one of the front rooms I had on my last stay, but despite booking in February and making the request then, and again in a follow-up email, I had a back room.

Everything you can wish for for a healthy or a gourmet breakfast in front of the most amazing view A selection of pillow so you can make your own choice

1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: The room was cold no heating. When we complained they flatly lied that it was on. Freezing all night! Room service promised all day, no chance not until after 19:30 When finally arrived the warm dish was cold, scallops nearly frozen as well as the risotto. The shower perk was broken. Had to change rooms because TV didn’t work. Ordered special room service for breakfast with pressed orange juice, espresso with hot milk on the side. The orange juice was from can, scrambled eggs nowhere to be seen, the bread was stale, no hot milk. When asked about the orange juice we were told that they were out of it. Finally after pushing a bit they suddenly had it.The hot milk came when the coffe was already cold.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Room, evening food is wonderful in the restaurant and the staff are excellent. The reception team do a great job and always make you feel welcome. I like to have the same room and the hotel invariably manage to enable this, even at busy periods!! The Pool is a welcome bonus, even in the winter; it is always a great temperature!!
Cons: There is no Gym in the Hotel. No Spa facility at the hotel, either, which would be a great addition. More Coffee pods would be useful; when you are working in your room or on the balcony, access to regular coffee helps!!
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great, the room clean, quiet, & spacious, and the location well within walking distance to many local attractions.
Cons: There is no van or shuttle service from the airport (the taxi cost 50E).
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location.
Cons: One of the towel was dirty and I didn’t bring it to the reception because my partner stopped me. We tried to have the car in the parking but it was so complicate to get the ticket and get another one from the reception. Finally they’ve told us they will take care and the day after we found out that no one took care of it ,so we had to go through the same silly story with the ticket ,parking and etc which took us too long time to handle.....
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was excellent!! The room was comfortable and nice.
Cons: Breakfast was not included and it was very unfair....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and a really welcoming property. Swam in October - Poole heated.
Cons: No Gym.
2.0 Mediocre

Located in Marseille (1st Arrondissement), Alex Hotel is within a 15-minute walk of Old Port of Marseille and La Vieille Charite. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services.
6.7 Good
Pros: Well situated by station. Public parking nearby. Comfortable bed. Kettle in room for morning tea.
Cons: Satellite tv not working. Noisy door banging.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing decoration. I had a lovely balcony, was on the 3rd floor. Really enjoyed absolutely everything about the property. --- I did not go into their Spa- or did not avail of their massage services, unfortunately. Given only 3? or 4? spa features- hamam, sauna and shower- I did not think that 35 eur was worth it and given no prior information about prior- massage bookings- I did not get lucky to find an available masseuse, unfortunately. -- Lovely breakfast- totally worth the money! --
Cons: Staff. This was really a hit and miss. -- Big thanks to the lovely breakfast lady, her homemade cake and a young gentleman from the night shift until 7:00 am. -- It all comes down to whether the staff work in hospitality for the right reasons or not and golden rule: a person in front of you is the most important person in the room. -- I personally disliked the care given by the main host and another lady at the reception. -- 2 issues: 1) when I first came in to check in- I immediately inquired about the spa and massages. The main host was very quick to check if my room included spa, since the answer was a NO- the rest of the tone and attitude for the conversation felt like it was set to be a no. Upon my further inquiry on the facilities and possibility to book a massage, the host unapologetically answered a phone, interrupting our conversation without a blink of sorry. I felt like a nuisance. -*Notable, this host retained professionalism and got back to me with a "no" email saying that non of the masseuses were available to give me a massage, which I guessed might be the case, given only 6/7 hours prior warning. 2) In the morning of a check out- I checked out, leaving my luggage for just a brief moment to descend and have breakfast- before fleeing to catch a bus. Breakfast, as per other receptionist lady- was to be pre-ordered "to ensure a breakfast table is reserved". I did so at 22:30 & paid for it as well- knowing I will be in a rush in the morning. - In this case, I would suggest to better the communication internally: for example have a printed list of successfully checked out people from the hotel and another, with rooms/pax who paid for such a breakfast. Prepare such a list a day before the morning shift- and tick such a list as you go along. ----- Lack of prior preparation from the staff- left me feeling interrogated as if I did something unusual, wrong?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and clean rooms. Good value. Spa is also very nice.
Cons: There is no parking at the site or valet. There is parking in the train station but it is a short walk.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located just next to the main train station of Marseille, which is extremely convenient. The hotel is very neatly kept and the rooms are clean. All public areas are very tidy as well. The big windows block the outside noises surprisingly well. The breakfast was pretty good too. The staff is very helpful and professional. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone staying in marseille.
Cons: Of course, close to a big station you’ll get the inconvénients of being nearby a big train station... the neighborhood isn’t the nicest or the cleanest but the same can be said abo gnu has of marseille.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice, comfortable, quiet and very clean, as a bonus with a little balcony with a nice view to the roofs of Marseille. The breakfast was lovely. Not necesserily all the stuff you are used to have in bigger hotels (vegetables etc.) but everything with high quality. You could also order something special from the kitchen. The croissants and ham were so tasty, and the orange juice had even seen some oranges :D It was really lovely. The fitness room was small, but proper enough to be able to work out. You could reach the harbour in 10-15 walk. Wifi worked properly. Great value for money!
Cons: The surrounding near the train station was a little bit uncomfortable for a blond woman traveling alone. I also missed a kettle to make tee in the room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean room. Friendly staff.
Cons: Online notes suggest the there is free parking available. When we arrived we were told that there was only one pot available and that it was already booked...It did not suggest that we needed to reserve parking online. Location close to train station but nothing else. To get to a dining location we were told to walk about a mile to the port for restaurants.

Pros: Budget hotel in a perfect location across the road of the train station, few mitres of supermarket, cafes, restaurants... 10 min to walk to Old Port. Absolutely soundproof room! 7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was really good. Also the location of the Hotel was quite close to the city center and everything was reachable by foot. The bed was also great.
Cons: The Hotel is modernized but still can shake off some of its heritage. The building in which the hotel is located is quite uglly. Also the parking lot seems not to be that great. In the room itself, the bathroom was modernized but not in a convincing manner.
