They closed early without telling me, then didn't let me switch pick up locations leaving me stranded in a random city after hours on Christmas Eve. I do not recommend them.Reviewed 3 Jan 2025

When we pick up vehicle representative was very short with me stating she had been calling me and they didn’t have a car. I showed her my phone number in the reservation, it was different from what she had been calling. I asked if there was anything g available she said no. I asked “ you have no cars” she said “ no suv like you reserved” then she said they had 1 Chevy Malibu. I accepted that car. The car was not cleaned it had dirt and stuff on the floor and windows were dirty. Just not the best experience I’ve had.Reviewed 17 Dec 2024

The reservation was for 7pm drop off but the office was closed. There were no instructions and it took forever to reach a customer service agent over the phone. In the end I had to leave the car 7pm on saturday and assume liability for it being parked there unattended until they opened again on Monday. Would never rent from Hertz again. They blamed Kayak for not making me aware.Reviewed 17 Nov 2024

Terrible. Was charged smoking fee and I dont even smoke. The car was disgusting when I picked it up but they only had one full size option and there were long lines to get it changed - so I kept it because we were in a hurry. We had the car one day, i do not smoke, but charged a significant smoking fee. Working on it with hertz but its the last time i am renting from them.Reviewed 27 Jul 2024

When I rented through Kayak I requested airport pickup. Since I am unfamiliar with the addresses in St. Louis, it assigned me to another location (unfortunately without indicating it was NOT the airport, but a car dealership 20 minutes away). Once I discovered (en route to St. Louis), I attempted to call and cancel but to no avail. My confirmation number was not accessible via the Hertz site so I was unable to cancel there. I called the toll free number on the confirmation and could not get a live person. I tried another Hertz location (since the car dealership was not even listed on the Hertz site) and he tried to find a number for me but was unable to. I finally found a website for the car dealership and went through the chat option. Was told they'd take care of it and even received a follow-up email, but have yet to receive a cancellation confirmation. All told, a horrible experience and will not use Kayak or Hertz again.Reviewed 14 Jun 2024

The rental, although was advertised as St Louis airport, was actually a 30 minute ride away. The shuttle service didn't go there. We arrived to the airport location at 4:45 where we found all this out. Our location closed at 5 pm so we couldn't get there before closing. So we canceled our original which was $41/day and asked for their lowest priced which turned out to be $72/day. They said it was because we were walk-ins. We were not walk-ins as we'd booked 3 days ago. We left and got a Dollar car for $48.Reviewed 21 Nov 2023

It was really easy to get to the Hertz off-airport site via rideshare. The office was easy to find and the price I paid to be able to pick up and drop off at different airports was outstanding! I saved over $400 versus getting the car at the airport. I was in/out in less than 10 min. Super easy, thank youReviewed 9 Nov 2022

When I put in Airport code to search for rental. I expected the rental to be at the airport not offsite where I have to take taxi or shared ride to get to that location which add additional cost.Reviewed 23 Oct 2022

The turn in experience was horrible. The store closed a few minutes early and then when we called hertz they said we couldn’t control when the store closes and when I asked if I could drop off at a different location they told me it would be $500 and if I turned it into the store it would be $300…because they closed early !?!?!? If this is not resolved I will never rent from hertz again. Probably the worst possible customer service from any car company ever.Reviewed 9 Oct 2022

I was expecting my car to be at the airport because that's what I put in the search criteria. When I got there they informed me the Hertz location was actually 20+ miles away so I had to spend an additional $100 in cab fares. The airport Hertz said I could tell them I wanted to return the car at the airport and that they would reimburse my cab expenses. When I got to the other Hertz location I was told I had to return it there and they couldn't adjust my bill because it was pre-paid. The Hertz guy said the car had 5/8th of a tank of gas (which it did) and to return it with the same amount of gas. I was returning the car with 3/4th tank of gas until I got out the rental contract from the glove compartment to put it and keys in drop box (location was closed on Sunday) and I noticed that they indicated it was full when I got it. Rather than have them charge me $9.99/gallon I went ahead and spent another $15 to fill it up. I wrote a note on the paperwork saying I would dispute the rental charge with my credit card company if they don't refund me $15 to my MasterCard.Reviewed 3 Oct 2022
