Top tips for hiring a car at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport

  • Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) is one of the busiest airports in France and serves several international and domestic routes. This means that Nice Airport is often crowded, especially during peak seasons and during workday rush-hour periods, such as the early mornings and mid-late afternoons. To avoid the crowds when you pick up your car hire at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, it is a good idea to arrange your collection in the mid-morning or early evening. This way you will avoid the rush-hour times for business travellers and will usually have a shorter wait time at rental counters.
  • Public transport options at Nice Airport are often very busy and passengers may have to queue for tickets. Private car hire at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport cuts back on wait times and allows you to get straight on the road as soon as you land. Driving, rather than relying on public transport, also shortens your journey time if you are travelling to Nice. While a bus or train ride to Nice takes approximately 20-25min, it is possible to arrive in Nice by car in under 10min, depending on traffic conditions. Perfect if you’re in a hurry when you arrive at the airport.
  • Nice Airport is well connected by road and is ideally situated for travelling by car. NCE is situated just off the main routes, such as the A8, which covers the whole of the French southern coast and connects with south-west destinations, such as Marseilles. From the A8, you can also join major routes, such as the A33 and the A51, which lead inland. Car hire at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is perfect if you want to visit multiple destinations during your stay.
  • Nice Airport has great options for after-hours vehicle pick up and returns, so you can arrange your car hire to suit your travel plans. Many of their rental counters are open into the evening, with branches like Enterprise and Hertz closing after 22:00. However, if you are hiring with a branch that closes before or at 22:00, you can still pick up and return your car after-hours at the airport’s Car Rental Centre, which is located behind Terminal 2, across Car Park 5.
  • 25% of our users found a car hire at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport for €32 or less
  • Book your car hire at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about hiring a car at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport

  • Which documents should I take to pick up my hire car at NCE?

To collect your Nice Côte d’Azur Airport car hire, you should take your driver’s licence and also the debit or credit card that you used to make your online booking. Passengers are also advised to carry their passports with them to the car rental desk, as this can be used as photographic proof of ID.

  • Which car hire services are fast and easy to use at Nice Airport?

If you’re in a rush to pick up your hire car, several available rental branches offer express services to save you as much time as possible. For example, when you book with Alamo, you can use their accelerated check-in option to fill out your details online before you arrive at the counter. This allows you to skip a lot of the paperwork at the desk and head straight to your car. A similar option is also available when you book with Europcar and is a great way to save time at the airport.

  • Where can I find car hire services at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport?

Several of the car hire branches available at Nice Airport have counters located inside the Arrivals terminals. For example, SIXT car hire has a desk inside Terminal 1, on Level 0, opposite the Aquarium. There is also a TravelCar desk inside Terminal 1, near Gate 2. For Terminal 2 Arrivals, most of the car hire services are located just outside the terminal, behind Car Park 5. This is also where you will find the Car Rental Centre, which has designated pick-up and drop-off zones for every available care hire company operating at Nice Airport.

  • How much does it cost to hire a car at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport?

On average a car hire at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport costs €42 per day.

Our car was great and dropping off was great. The real issue was in picking up the car. We came from Nice, not from the airport which was the first challenging part. There was not an address on our rental confirmation so we just used google to look up Sixt rental. Google took us to a place inside the airport. We waited there for over 30 minutes and then the worker told us that we had to go to a different place, but didn't really clearly explain where. When we did find the rental place it was very obvious and I think would be really easy to find if you were landing there in the airport, but very frustrating experience.

The return process was a bit lengthy, as we waited for someone to check us out. Also, the representative questioned a scrape on the side of the car — but luckily I had photographic proof that it was there when I picked up the car. Strongly advise anyone to do the same.

I’ll see if this lets me choose my words I ordered a small BMW I was changed to a Peugeot 3008 when I arrived at the counter which was in another terminal. The only car they had left was a 5008 a Peugeot. This is a three seater SUV and I am one person. I called after a couple days asking for a smaller car. I only could speak to the main office..There is no way of contacting the airport directly. I told them to check if there would be a small car available. They said they would call back and they never did. Unfortunately, after that, I had to park in otherparking garages. This car is not made to park in French garages. I scraped the side. I moved onto another location and had to park in another garage where I scraped the side again. I was so paranoid about putting this car in garages that it ruined my trip.. When I returned the car, even the man checking me in said yeah this car is not made to be parked in French garages. Before I returned the car I askedif someone would come in remove the car for me. I didn’t even wanna drive it and get out of the parking spaces again. I don’t think I will neverrent from you guys again without being assured that I’ll get the card that I ordered. Now I have to deal with my credit card company to see if they’ll pay for the repairs they should never have happened. Sign a very unhappy unsatisfied customer

Alamo was horrific. Our plane was delayed due to storms. I had booked the car earlier than our anticipated landing. When I eventually reached Alamo, they said they only hold cars for 2 hours from the planned arrival time. They had let my car go and they had no others. Dispute it with your booking agent. We were left with no car after an exhausting flight. They clearly didn’t like the rental rate and were keen to not let us take the hire car. One we had already paid for. Really rude and unhelpful.

Most companies try to upgrade you if they don’t have the car requested. Avis gives you an inferior car but you pay the same price. My last ex with Avis was supposed to be my last- in Florida after 40 minute wait ( watching customers who came in later flight get cars) I was given a car that hadn’t been cleaned or checked it. When I returned you tried to charge me for damage from that previous client.. really sloppy

Incredibly rude and incompetent staff members. Rent from any one else but Europcar at Nice airport.! Even the so called 'manager' was a horrible person. No customer service at all and the cars are very basic regardless of what category you book. French stupidity and the inability to reason at its best. There are many other options. Choose another company.

The car was fine. Clean and in good shape. The pick up experience was a “strong arm” to buy insurance. My credit card covers and CDW issues, but I was forced to sign (a copy of a copy of a copy) a form that I could be on the hook for $50,000.00 (for a Nissan?) if I had an accident. I was completely shot from a long travel day, so I agreed to the insurance. It took a very long time to complete the process and it was not very satisfying. I assumed Europcar was a major player, which is why I chose them. I’ll not make that mistake again. Read the reviews!!!!

This location was not at the airport. No one answered the phone. When we got to the address, nobody was there. Doors were closed lights off. We heard from them an hour later and had to find another car the same day with another company and ended up spending more money. I would not recommend this at all, and I would not list this as being located at the airport.

When we reached priceless office to get the rental car . They were not available there . Even reception lady called them up so many times and they didn’t answer the phone calls or reply or back . So we end up not getting any car and we used to public transportation in our whole trip . I want my refund

The lady doing the check in and out was very polite and courteous and tried to help us. For some reason when I went to pick the car she told me her colleague had said that I had cancelled tje reservation which I hadn't and not received any email confirmation of this. Luckily she made a new one and the car was still available. Also on kayak it said booking for 5 people car but the priceless booking said 2 person so i had to clarify that. Car was good and the lady was helpful.
