Cons:

The car was about 1/8 below a full tank. And then the car showed that one of the rear tires was very low which I didn’t notice until I was off the lot but it made me a bit nervous while on the highway.

Pros:

Our confirmed reservations were not honored. After driving for over an hour to location to pickup car we were told there were not available. Confirmed reservation were worthless.

Cons:

If we had gotten a car per our reservations.

Cons:

EVERYTHING! Rented car through Kayak/Priceline, but the location rented from in Savoy had ZERO cars available - at all - and could NOT honor reservation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Employee Megan was rude and made comments offensive to my demographic. She forced me to sign for the condition of the car without seeing it. Car was not clean or filled up with gas when I received it. Cleaner was on premises and announced it wasn’t his responsibility and assistant I formed me Megan’s comments and demeanor are « just the way she is. ». I have never been treated like this by a car hire company in any country I’ve rented in. When I called Budget they « made a note » and that was it.

There was no car on the lot for my reservation. They were unable to help me locate a car at another location or with a competitor. I was just on my own to figure it out at the last minute. Reservations should not be allowed to be made or confirmed if they are unable to fulfill them.

The first the Budget rep assigned to me at check-in was a sedan that smelled likecigarette smoke, was beat up looking, and had a warning light up about needing an oil change. The second car the Budget rep assigned to me was an old looking Toyota 4Runner that a worn out break pedal that you had to press down all the way to get it to function, a driver's side passenger door that did not open from the inside of car, and a rear hatchback door that sometimes opened from the outside and sometimes stayed locked no matter how many time you hit unlock on the remote. To add insult to injury, Budget charged about 30-40% more at the Champaign, Illinois location than they charge elsewhere in the U.S. Needless to say, I did foresee that I was going to be visiting rent-a-wreck after paying top dollar to Budget.

I had a terrible experience with Avis at Willard Airport in Champaign-Urbana. Despite booking months in advance and confirming twice, I was left without a rental car. The manager, DeAndre McPherson, assured me the keys would be set aside for my late arrival, but on the day of my flight, I was told this wasn't possible, and he was on vacation. I tried to resolve it with another rep, even becoming a preferred member, but nothing worked. Avis failed to inform me of options ahead of time, causing major travel disruptions. Terrible communication and management.
