Pros: The flight was delayed slightly, but the gate agents kept us informed of the situation and did a fine job of being clear and transparent. In the end, we boarded about 20 minutes late, but still arrived early in Shanghai. Crew was lovely. All the on-board announcements were clear. The music was soothing. The food (which I was not expecting, given the fare, was better than I expected. Mediocre, but not bad. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I would not hesitate to fly them again.
Pros: Gave blankets and pillows for the flight, had a little snack box (but was all carbs). Plane is 99% Chinese and they are not super welcoming, kind of rude and it’s a little uncomfortable.
Cons: Seats were stiff, process of landing was strange, it was all just not great.
Cons: Flyus.com on phone for 2 hrs. Gave up and booked new tickets. Would not recommend kayak uses them. Makes me less likely to book in future
Pros: Friendly
Cons: Food in the CNX-PVG sector
Pros: None
Cons: newer aircraft, better seats, better in-flight food (for business class)
Pros: The flight was on schedule
Cons: Check in was a dreadful experience since they claimed I did not have a valid ticket. Is this because I bought via kayak search?
Pros: Very efficient check-in and boarding procedure. Comfortable seats.
Pros: The airline was efficient and clean.
Cons: There was no in-flight in a entertainment for a medium length flight And the food was completely ridiculous
Miserable
Cons: Treated like animals. Never again.
Good and Bad of Flying China Air
Pros: The airlines was on-time and provided a lot more service to passengers than do American airlines (including a meal on a 3 hour flight).
Cons: Boarding was a mess with everyone lining up at one time and pushing to get on the plane. Not very organized.
Rough ride with entertainment missing
Pros: Aisle seat with Ok legroom
Cons: Allowed customers to use phones for entertainment, but not iPads... dumb policy and against all Major Airlines. Food was not good, and maybe they can’t control - but 2.5 hours of turbulence was rough.
Cons: Missed the flight by 2 minutes and was refused boarding. Had to purchase three more tickets on another airline to get to my final destination as they were unable (unwilling?) to assit me with rebooking. In the process of trying to sort out a refund but with little hope left.
Good flight
Pros: Business class seats need to be improved
Cons: Seats
Cons: We sat on the tar mac for more than 90 minutes. I showed my e-ticket to the crew and they checked to find out that the delay was due to fog in Shanghai. Because I had to pick up my checked bag and go through the complete security check I was lucky to make the next flight.
Online check-in needs work
Cons: It was impossible to check in online. The main website let me choose English’s but when I clicked on the check-in link it immediately brought me back to a page in Mandarin.
Worst Flight of My Life
Pros: Nothing. Worst Airline ever.
Cons: I was delayed in Shanghai for OVER 30 hours. I was not given a hotel. There was no communication from the airline/ desk attendants. When I asked a question to the people at the desk they would tell me I needed to leave the terminal and go back to the check in counter ( I was in China and immigration would not let me do this). I was given three different times that the plane would leave. When immigration allowed me to call the check in desk from the phone the woman told me it was my fault for not listening to her. She told me the flight was at 2 the next day. I asked if it was in the afternoon and she said yes. The flight was at 2 am. When I said this she said it was my own fault. She would not let me into the lounge even though I had been stuck at the airport for hours. She was extremely rude and was not accommodating. When I finally was able to board the plane the seats were uncomfortable and the flight attendants were also rude. Because of this incident I missed the whole lantern festival which was the reason I was going to Thailand. I will NEVER use this airline again. It was a nightmare.
Didn't even get on the flight
Cons: The fact that vayama booked 50min between flights when they should have booked 2hrs, causing me to lose my flight and having to buy another with another carrier near midnight. Why does kayak partner with such an unprofessional vendor???
worsrt
Cons: delayed and shitty
Delays and no information in English
Pros: The cabin staff was friendly.
Cons: The 9:05 PM flight was delayed 1 hour to change a tire. They actually put us on the buses to go to the plane. It takes 10 min just to get to the plane. Once they got to the plane they turned right around and sent us back to the gate. My Chinese associate said they are a safe airline because they often delay the flight to fix problem...
Low cost, on time efficient and good service
Pros: On time, low cost, efficient and quick boarding, hot meal, great service!
Pros: Will take it again.
Cons: De très vieux avions. Repas désastreux (pour un Nord-américain).
Pros: Luggage came out quickly.
Cons: The boarding process was chaotic. In China people don't believe in lines, and the airline doesn't really care. Put on your helmets and elbow pads.
Joy on Juneyao
Pros: Everything was very good, flight was right on time, food was good, service was bright and happy.
Cons: 1 hour delay no reason given
Flight got cancelled and no one notified me
Cons: I emailed to confirm my flight two weeks in advance. I was told in was good to go. I arrived at Shanghai airport to go to Hong Kong I check in with the airline and they tell me my flight was cancelled. I was angry and upset that I was put in this situation with no advance notice of the flight being cancelled. I feel this is poor customer relations especially because we were traveling out of foreign country and no experience traveling to China. Thankfully the airline got us on a different airline flight and our plans were not disrupted too bad. After this incident I didn't feel comfortable using you site for travel.
Punctual and professional but with poor facilities
Pros: Punctual and professional. Has alcohol upon inquiry.
Cons: - Seats are too small - (China bound) tax is too high even though ticket price is cheap - Food is disgusting - Lack of in-flight entertainment - During night flights, flight attendants are visibly exhausted
Woman Who Checked Us in Said We Wouldn't Have to C
Pros: Getting from A to B safely. Some of the crew were extremely helpful and sweet.
Cons: When we checked in, the lady said we would not have to claim our bags until our final destination. Well, we did. That's all! :)
ANA good airline
Pros: After missing my connecting flight united booked me on ANA was the best part of my 20+ hour day .
Had a great, punctual amd convenient flight.
Pros: I was surprised to get food even on a short 2h flight. The seats were comfortable if a bit short for taller people. The staff was helpful and friendly and oberall, there was few things I could point out that were any inconvenience at all. Really perfect journey.
Cons: Seats are a bit short for tall people. Entertainment was not there but was not important at all for a short 2h flight.
