The car ran poorly. It had over 53K miles and accelerated poorly and was sluggish. We were unable to swap it out because we were under tight time constraints and in different cities. The fuel economy was decent, but the car struggled to go over 60mph as needed on I-94.

At the last minute, when I went to pick up the car, I was an 1-2 hour early. The Hertz representative charged me extra money for picking up my car early, which I think is ridiculous. You are allowed to pick up cars as early as previous nite with no charges in cities where office closes at 5 pm., but Hertz charged me for 2 hours extra. Ridiculous!

They had one person working and then two...it was over an hour in line which is just ridiculous. The parking lot was dark and NOT marked well so no one could find their cars and there was no one to ask.

Nearly 60 minutes in line to check in. Lack of staff to attend to very long line of customers. Returning car was easy .. very small airport….but charged me double stating that the gas tank was not full on return. Spent an hour on phone with customer service.. emailed gas receipt and finally got charge removed. Not sure how such a simple thing as reading gas tank level can get screwed up. I feel that a charge was trying to be slipped in hoping I would not look at emailed receipt. Not acceptable.

Enterprise refused to rent to me. They would not accept a state-issued temporary driver's license from the state of WI. I was literally turned away at the counter. So, I made a reservation under my wife's name. When she went to pick up the car, she was turned away at the counter because the vehicle had just been rented to someone else, and the desk agent said it was against their policy to allow for same-day, one-way rentals. Going 0 for 2 with Enterprise was exceedingly frustrating. I won't be giving them my business in the future. Also, the fact that Kayak allowed a same-day, one-way rental against the policies of the store was frustrating. A better agreement between Kayak and its vendors should be established. Perhaps Kayak's partners should be obliged to honor agreements made on their behalf through Kayak.

Staff was helpful and the drop off was VERY quick and easy.

Cons:

Computers were down when picking up my rental, so there was a long line and long wait to complete the paperwork. Then, after the paperwork was completed, they had to radio someone to bring up our rental (a minivan) and we waited more than 20 minutes for someone to bring it. I went back to the counter and asked if the van was somewhere we could walk to and pick it up and they radioed again. Then I watched as a porter went to a minivan that was a short walk (maybe 100 yards away) and drive the car to the front of the building.
