Air Canada sucks. Small uncomfortable planes, delayed at every leg of journey, unpleasant staff, can’t make changes to seats, requests at airports denied. I had heard negative things about AC and they were confirmed.

After every passenger was boarded the captain announced that the lavatory had to be cleaned. We waited a half hour for that to be done before we finally took off. Nothing was offered in the way of drinks or snacks while we bided our time. Otherwise, the flight itself was uneventful.

The luggage cabin door just broke while we were taking off. The monitors on the seats were not working. The bathrooms were not replenished with napkins.

The luggage space overhead is the old configuration. Bags can't be stored in a vertical position. Delay at arrival gate in SFO, but I can deal with that. Service was fine.

During boarding, the crew told us there was new room left in the overhead bins, so carry-ons that didn't fit under the seat needed to be checked. Barely half the passengers had boarded at that point. I left my carry-on case outside the plane for checking. When I got on the plane, I saw there was still plenty of space in the overheads, so I went back and got my case. Another complaint, there was literally no entertainment of any sort on this plane. No screens for movies, no headphone jacks for music, nothing. I could understand if it was a an hour-long commuter flight, but it was 3+ hours.

Start drink service earlier, midway they had to stop as we were arriving.. Staff knows this is a short flight - so get your act together and start the service as soon as possible when the plane reaches cruising altitude

Meal selections were not available, they ran out of first selections as well. Food lacked taste (and no it was not because of altitude) - it was just sub-standard.

I travel frequently and every single Air Canada flight I have taken in the past 2 months there has been an issue, especially with flight delays…

I upgraded to a seat with more legroom, plus the seat next to me was empty, so it was a pretty comfortable flight.

The gate and check-in were a nightmare. Even though my itinerary only had a layover in Vancouver, I was required to recheck my luggage, then I was required to pay $135 for a reason that I still can't understand-the agent's explanations made no sense. I am furious with Air Canada. (On top of this, my flight to Seoul was delayed and I ended up missing my connection to Ho Chi Minh City.)

Overview of Air Canada
Air Canada is based in Toronto and plays a major role in transporting passengers across the United States-Canada border. Secondary hubs are also located in Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver. First offering transcontinental routes in 1938, scheduled services are now regularly run to Europe, South America, Asia, Oceania and Africa. Seasonal flights are offered to a number of Caribbean and Central American countries, such as the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
Operating as aligned subsidiaries, Air Canada Express focuses on domestic flights to smaller regional cities and Air Canada Rogue is a low-cost alternative. Halifax, Ottawa and St. John’s are three of the Canadian destinations that the airline group targets.
It is a founding member of the Star Alliance, having joined together with United Airlines, Thai Airways, Lufthansa and Scandinavian Airlines back in 1997. Connecting flights and shared airport lounges across the Star Alliance group boost the value for customers of Air Canada. Additional codeshare agreements are in place with Cathay Pacific, Central Mountain Air, China Southern Airlines, Etihad Airways and Virgin Australia.
Recognized as the flag carrier airline of Canada, a red maple leaf is emblazoned on the tail of the fleet’s aircraft. Boeing and Airbus are the preferred manufactures of choice, with the A320 and 787 series some of the most popular models. A number of the planes are painted with the dark grey Star Alliance livery.
Passengers are given the choice of flying in either Economy, Premium Economy or Business Class when they fly with Air Canada. A host of alternative meal options are available to Premium Economy and Business Class passengers when flying in North America, such as reduced fat, gluten free, vegetarian, low lactose and Kosher.
