Staff was relatively friendly and helpful, vehicle was excellent.

Cons:

The vehicle was not waiting for us when we arrived. We had to wait over 30 minutes for a vehicle to arrive at the facility. Communication of this was poor as we were told the wait would be only 10 minutes and I believe we were not immediately notified when our vehicle was ready.

When we picked up the vehicle it only had 1/4 of a tank of gas so we had to wait 20 minutes for them to go put gas in it. When we returned the vehicle we stopped about 20 minutes from the city to fill it up and we were still charged for 3 gallons of gas at 10.00 a gallon, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Drop off was super easy and the van was perfect for our needs

Cons:

My flight was delayed by 3 hours, so instead of getting in at 9:00 pm it was midnight. When I got to the Alamo rental in the airport the entire garage was empty of cars. There were about 8 of us in line with nothing that we could do but wait to see if more cars were brought over, the employee said that they had overbooked and were waiting for more cars to be turned in and cleaned up. It was after 2:00 am when I got my car, thank goodness I kept my email confirmation because they wanted to charge me an extra $125 even though I picked up the car 5 hours later than I originally scheduled it for. I guess car rental companies are like airlines, they overbook "hoping" people don't show up but when everyone does the customers just get mad and end up having a poor experience.

The van did not pick us up. We waited 40 plus minutes and had to take a cab to their location. The local phone number given to us went to a national location. We could not get info as to when we might have been picked up. The local Payless employee could have not been less helpful and offered no apology. We will never use Payless again.

The price was good, no secret charges. The staff were very nice and I was in and out asap. Car was great and got me exactly where I needed to go!

Cons:

The shuttles take a long time but I understand why. I took a cab instead to find the NC airport location.

I had to wait at the airport for over an hour for a shuttle to the site. when I got to the site I had to wait for a car and it to be cleaned. I was really disappointed. I have used Payless in the past and was satisfied , I think I might have to really think about using u people again

Pros:

The car (Pacifica minivan) really worked well for our needs as far as size and comfort and got decent mileage. Dropoff was very easy.

Cons:

The pick up was awful. After a very tiring flight, a packed airport, waiting in line, and trying to breathe in an N95 mask, the agent (who was not wearing her mask properly), kept trying to "upsell" us on a different vehicle. I appreciate the offer to get something larger, and we did. But partly I just agreed to get it so we could all just get out of there. Unrelated, some features to the Pacific like the auto stop/start are just plain dumb and make it hard to use.

The staff member who helped me obtain my vehicle was terrific. The only complaint I have is that I specifically reserved a mini van for a noon pick up. When I got there, none were available. Then why bother? So I agreed to a large SUV. When I went to the deck to get in the vehicle, another customer was about to drive off in it. He too had been assigned the same vehicle. I went all the way back to the counter and by the time I got there, a minivan had been cleaned and was available. If it weren't for the exceptional customer service I received from the desk staff, I would have had a much worse attitude.

The first vehicle they gave us, when we went to get it, the key was missing, so we had go through the whole process again. The second vehicle we got from the time of pickup reminded us constantly that it was in need of an oil change. This was a bit alarming as we didn't know how long we could travel until it might become an emergency issue.

When I arrived I was told the mini van I reserved was not available and had to take a suv with minimal trunk space. I walked to the car alone with no one there to do a walk around with me to take note of any issues with the vehicle. The car was NOT clean, there was dirt in the trunk space, a stain on the middle seat, and the outside of the vehicle was dirty. I had no choice but to take the car in that state as I was on a time schedule. During my time with the car it CUT OFF due to a computer malfunction and took over an hour to come back on causing me and my family to miss a dinner reservation. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

But I guess you get what you pay for. When I first booked the car online nowhere did it say of you are in-state you have to have a credit card or that you have limited mileage. How is this fair when if I was from out of town I got unlimited miles and could use a debit card for the 200 deposit??? Getting to the place is where they tell you all of that. Since I dont have a credit card I waisted money on a reservation with them. They wouldn't let me add another driver to the policy since the reservation was done online (yet online...it's not an option to add another driver). I couldn't use someone's else's credit card with the same last name as me (and who was right there with me to give consent for the use of their card) yet at other car rental companies I have done that before in the past. I needed a car and theirs was cheaper so I ended up getting another reservation with them in someone else's name. With this reservation (although it was also done online) I could now all of a sudden and an additional driver to it. They said when we turn the car back in, any occurred charges could be paid for with another card. When we brought the car back, they lied and said they wouldn't charge us for an additional driver however, they did anyways placing that charge on a credit card that no charge should have been made to. I had absolutely no problem paying for the additional driver, however it would have been done with a debit card so don't lie to me about where it's getting charged to not mess up people's credit status.

Ron, the person who took me to my car was very personable. I was given an Avis Car & had to return for a Hertz car. That was acceptable and the lady who checked me out of the garage said she'd give me a fuel voucher for my inconvenience & to return the car as close to empty as possible. I didn't have any notation on my slip so I returned it full as I didn't want to pay $10+/gallon to fill it up.

Hey I’ve always seen this company sitting on the side and just thought, they probably want an arm and a leg for one of those nice cars. I drive a BMW 4 series and once you’ve drove luxury, it’s hard to go back. The price was lower than if I went and rent a Nissan Altima, crazy right. Maybe they had a special or just the timing was right. I like what I got and got a real experience.

When I first tried to book, they allowed me to go through the whole process and then told me there were no cars available. I tried again for a different car and was able to get one. I went to pick up the car and the woman at the counter told me that even though I had a reservation, if it was made that same day there were not any cars available. Then after she actually looked, she told me that my reservation was actually available but there were actually two under my name. I told her I was told that the first one didn't go through because there were no cars available at the time. Then she tried to upsell me on insurance I didn't need and intimidate me with fear tactics about what could happen if I didn't get the insurance. After all that I finally got the car. The car was mostly clean. It had some minor seat stains but it was a good experience. Then at the end of the trip I saw that SIXT charged my card twice, once for the actual rental and once for the one THEY canceled. I called them to dispute the charge and they told me they never actually canceled it, even though when I tried to book they told me there were no cars available. So SIXT charged me for a car they never had that I never rented.

Cons:

I reserved a VW Jetta or “similar” and got a 2 door camaro that was terrible. The line was way too long to wait in it again to try to change cars.

Upon arrival at the airport, I requested a shuttle from ACE, only to be informed that they were fully booked and unable to accommodate me, despite my February booking and confirmation number. This experience was terrible the first rental car I was given had a check car light on, cigarette holes in the seat and missing things cosmetically. The vechile I exchanged for had a high debt and scratch on the side. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had with this company or any rental company. I paid over $100 for a week to drive around in a messed up car. I want this issue examine and looked at. Also I would like a refund.

they added 40% to the bill and called it insurance... I did not want to pay as I have that through my car insurance as well as through my credit card provider. However, I would not be able to pick up the car without paying these additional charges.

There was no way to call the shuttle for airport pickup -- I called at least 6 times and the phone just rings and rings. It took 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive and take us to the office. Once there, I signed in at the desk but 25 minutes later, my name still hadn't been called. I took a cab back to the airport and got a car from Alamo.

Had to call twice to get them to answer the phone when I arrived. They said they'd send the shuttle and I'd see it in 10-15 minutes. Waited over 20 minutes, and no one arrived. I tried to call again, and no one answered. Gave them until I downloaded and checked Uber & Lyft to come. They never showed up and I ended up using Lyft to take me to the office and using ride share during my trip.

good on gas. sticker on windshield blocked some of the driver's view, empty cans in backseat, they demanded proof of my own personal car insurance or buy insurance from them and also demanded to see proof of my flight out BEFORE i could take the car. Nothing about this was on their website. upon return, we called as per instructions but no one picked up for 45 minutes. finally called corporate office and they told me to wait until the shuttle swings by, which it did. I called the rental office once more and FINALLY someone picked up but shuttle took 30 minutes for a 10 minute ride to the airport. At the drop off site, 12 other people were waiting for a ride to their flights. Five of them were in danger of missing their flights and took an uber. Badly run business, intrusive rental criteria, sloppy maintenance to the point of being dangerous (windshield obstruction). We can't recommend using this car rental company to anyone else for any reason, as their service is sub-par across the board.

First They overbooked I had to wait for a rental car to come in Some one did arrive 30 minutes later Other people left Finally got paperwork done but The rental person Did Not come out with me to review car He told me just to take pictures I did The car was clean but had small scratches all over car and on passenger side had hit white markers which when I turned in marker on paper that All those scratches and marks were already there The car was ok and not was I asked for but ok Service needs to be addressed When I turned in car one person outside told me one thing and inside person told me another thing They need to get act together My son commented I should have gone to a regular rental because they weren’t professional Also I was charged extra items which later thought I didn’t need $70 more plus rental but it’s over

Cons:

I made two Thrifty Car reservations using Kayak. When I tried to pick up the first car Thrifty said the reservation was cancelled. Sure enough, I checked the Kayak paperwork and the reservation cancelled automatically two hours before the scheduled pick up time. I checked the next reservation 3 days in the future and found that it too automatically cancelled 2 hours before the scheduled pick up. I called both Kayak and Thrifty and neither could change it. Absolutely useless.

Pros:

It was exhilarating being reprimanded by the check in desk for declining their own insurance, even though I had already purchased insurance via Kayak.

Cons:

The rented Ford Fiesta may have once been a viable vehicle, but the transmission barely cycled--leaving me stranded more than once in the middle of intersections. What a piece of junk.

A single person running the counter when checking in. Zero ability to answer questions. The car treated me like a teenager with having speed limited to 80, volume limited to 9, seat belts that would shut off the radio if they weren't plugged in. There wasn't a drive to pick us up from the location to go back to the airport. Overall, the situation was a disaster.

The handling of the car that I was given was terrible. It was very sensitive, which made it tough to drive especially when on the highway. In addition, the lady at the counter said the upgrade was $12 and when I got the receipt, it as $20.
