Siracusa hotels near Castello Maniace

Pros: This is a beautiful hotel located across the street from the Ionian Sea in Ortigia. There is great local shopping and restaurants within easy walking distance to the hotel. This hotel has been tastefully updated with all the modern creature comforts along with an exceptional restaurant. Our room was a large two-story loft with plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy our stay. The entire hotel staff is exceptional and catered to all of our wants and needs while providing valuable information on the local tourist attractions.

Cons: The ONLY thing we didn't like in our room was the loud exhaust fan in the bathroom. Otherwise, everything was GREAT!!!

Pros: Big rooms

Cons: They told us our junior suite has some problems and decided to switch us to their sister hotel “antico hotel roma 1880” without any notice. This hotel is worse than Algile Hotel and without view. Poor arrangement

Pros: The hotel was beautifully situated right in the old syracusa area, overlooking the sea ! It's an old baroque palace, very well restored, with a very nice decoration inside ! Our room was absolutely perfect with its jacuzzi and its terrace overlooking the sea ! Breakfast was incredible as well as diner ! We really enjoyed the local food and cooking ! If you have a car, there is a valet service that park the car for you.

Cons: One of the best hotel and room I experienced !

Pros: Position in the town. Local restaurants, ie ARCHE

Cons: Room not available until 4 pm Limited prepared fresh fruit, and no low fat yogurt. Although the hotel had very few guests and we were in a superior room swimming in the pool was extra, WHY? Very pushy welcoming manager, who always had to 'refresh her memory' opening times etc. Not helpful reception staff re paying for parking on the space in front of the hotel, annoyed we did not use your underground parking.

Pros: Beautiful place with friendly staff, great breakfast buffet and comfortable beds

Cons: Wish they would clean up the garbage on the outside of the property, particularly at the back. Seems to be an issue in Sicily in many places

Cons: Bathroom had bath with hand held shower. Would have preferred walk in shower - personal choice.

Pros: The bed was exceptional and so were the pillows and sheets. The view was great, ac worked.

Cons: The LED lighting in the room was bad, the small shower unbearable, and the overall decor not to my liking.

Pros: Superb location right in the heart of Ortigia, housed in a grand old building. Room was of a loft style, with a large bed on the mezzanine floor. Comfortable bed, bright room, and has two toilets (very useful). Breakfast was generally of good quality. Ample parking in front of the property (for travellers with cars).

Cons: Service attitude of some of the staff was unacceptably poor, for a "luxury" property. Two examples - (i) there is ample public parking next door, convenient for drivers. When we checked in, we were told that we could opt to pay for valet (at 30 euro for 24 hours), or park at the public lots (one euro per hour; payment either via parking machine or the EasyPark phone app). We opted for valet the first day, but on the second day we parked at the public lots. We received an inexplicable parking fine the next morning, although valid payment had been made. We approached the reception staff for assistance when we returned, and they told us they would email the local police (with a screenshot of our payment) and keep us informed the next morning. When we checked the next morning a different receptionist (female, with dark shoulder length curly hair) immediately told us with a defensive tone that the hotel could do nothing, as we were at fault for not using the hotel valet service. This attitude was poor and offensive, and beside the point. The fact is her colleagues made a very simple offer of contacting the police, and we were not at fault if the instructions were not clearly passed on. Also, the male manager present, whilst the conversation was getting heated right next to the breakfast guests, did not make any gesture to calm the situation down, and only offered to check when the receptionist left us without a word of apology, and we had to protest to another female receptionist present. When we returned later in the afternoon, this same receptionist was the one who had to appease us (whilst the manager and the first receptionist were nowhere to be seen) (ii) room cleaning was poor - we had left a cup of tea from the morning on the table in the room, this was not cleared away when we returned, and neither was bottled water refilled. We had to complain at the reception before they sent room service up to remedy. Bed was poorly made as well.

Pros: I like the location, the clean room and comfortable contemporary design. Breakfast is good. The fitness gym center is below 5 start expectation.

Cons: Generally speaking, The staff are green ( sophistication level not match 5 star nor luxury expectation . Lack of warm welcome smile from a five start hotel host. The breakfast staff should volunteer to offer manue to customer since this is included in the breakfast, not wait till customer ask.

Pros: Breakfast cereals limited but other aspects of breakfast buffet excellent. Room 105 outstanding and very comfortable. Views over harbour delightful and easy parking for cars just outside hotel.

Cons: Room cleaning could be better, there is no carpet in the room and no mats in the gym so stretching is not easy to do unless you bring your own mat.

Pros: Amazing location. Beautiful views and rooms. Nice balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast was stand out great.

Cons: Overall really great. .. just poor blinds that let light stream into the room, which woke us up at sunrise

Pros: The venue of this hotel is good and it takes only 5-8 min walk to Ortygia.

Cons: The air-conditioning of my room did not work. As the temperature was not high in the evening (about 19 degrees Celsius, we decided to open the windows instead. The bad news was that we were badly bitten by mosquitoes.

Pros: The staff was excellent and a great location.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Good breakfast - a variety of products to choose from: sweets, ham, eggs, fruits. Ordered coffee better than the one from buffet (but we were asked if we want it only one day). Our room was very clean. We got information about sightseeing at the reception desk.

Cons: Only one elevator was working and once even non of them. No view from the room - some stairs leading somewhere and stealing the light coming to the room. Parking possibilities limited - either driving in the area for quite a long time to find free parking spot (unless you come in the evening and not in tourists season peak) or pay 15 - 18 EUR for parking. I would also say that hotel is rather strong 3-star than 4-star place.

Cons: Our second stay in 3 years and the decor needs an upgrade; mediocre breakfast

Pros: The rooms were spacious and bathroom was very nice. Breakfast was good with a large variety of choices. Staff were very helpful when needed.

Cons: I was not expecting a party to be held in the atrium, outside our window, during 2 of the 3 nights there. It was noisy. Both parties lasted until midnight.

Pros: The bed was comfortable, the building elegant, staff friendly and efficient. The location was perfect for walking into ortigia. Very spacious room and bathroom. I’d definitely come again.

Pros: Location is good with only a short walk to Ortigia. Parking facilities close to hotel. Spacious rooms.

Cons: I have been staying at the hotel several times and noticed whenever there was a function the evening before some of the left overs are served for breakfast, e.g. ham rolls with the bacon or finger food.

Pros: The photos on the website are very out of date. The hotel was undergoing renovation when we stayed which created some issues. I didn't rate the bathroom cleanliness very highly because the lighting was so bad it was hard to see and the air conditioner dripped water which pooled on the floor. I think the hotel has a lot of potential but the work should be completely finished before guests are invited to stay. Having said that the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was pleasant and the staff were charming and welcoming.

Cons: I get the impression the whole area is going through a gentrification transition which makes first appearances from the outside a little daunting, but once inside you can see the positive changes in progress. The location is good being opposite the train station and an interesting 10 minute walk from Ortigia. Overall our stay was a positive one and good value for money.

Pros: The staff was extremely helpful and friendly with sights to see and restaurants to visit. They even gave us information on the best route to another town we were visiting and recommended a few car rental companies we could check out. Breakfast was great! Very nice presentation. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had updated facilities, very nice. The property is in walking distance to sights, restaurants... We would definitely recommend to other travelers.

Pros: A budget hotel, opposite Syracuse railway station and just around the corner from the bus station, located within walking distance of tourist sights (10-15min walk). Breakfast was coffee, yogurts, and croissants, nicely prepared. Free parking in front of the hotel. The room was a decent size but need some renovation.

Cons: The location. It’s right in front of the train station.
