I didn't like that it was a very misleading experience. I booked through Kayak.com at a price and when I got to Hertz they said that they couldn't give me the value I was offered on the website and charged me double of what I expecting to pay.3.6 Poor

The insurance we reserved was a joke. It was 10 dollars a day on the Kayak site only to find out when we got to the Hertz facility they wanted to charge more for insurance than the entire car rental price. We had 2 dents on the car that I told the hertz guy about. He saw them and agreed, but didn't add them to the damage sheet! So, at the other end, they are trying to charge us for dents that I have pictures of on my phone! The language barrier was a joke. If I have to pay for damage that was already on the car, I'll be coming back to Hertz for this.4.0 Mediocre

My flight was delayed. Alamo was aware of my flight number because it was notified by reservation and they are at the airport. Alamo closed and I left without transportation at the airport. I will never book again. I had a bad time and I was distressed to stay without transportation in a country that did not know anyone. I had to settle with another company.4.0 Mediocre

I did not rent the car because when we got there and we showed the rate we had the guy keep saying that is impossible you have no insurance he wanted to charge us insurance for 3 days $175.00 and the car rate $43 for the 3 das we thought it was outrages and decided to take a cab to the resort which was only $35.0010.0 Wonderful

My rate for a rental in DR was surprisingly affordable when I booked online. I went ahead and purchased the insurance made available during booking. When I arrived at the rental counter, additional insurance was required with the rental, regardless of the policy I'd purchased (mistakenly believing it was part of Alamo's a la carte options). So I had a useless insurance policy and the required Alamo insurance more than doubled the online quote. Bastards.Budget

The car was not ready when we got there and we had to be shuttled to another location to pick it up. I had purchased additional insurance on Expedia that I was then told when I arrived at Budget that that insurance was not valid for Budget nor in the Dominican Republic at all, so then I had to purchase another whole insurance. The person assisting me was rude and argumentative. He had me signing papers without even telling me what I was signing for nor what the price was going to be that I was committing/signing to. When I asked him the price he pitched a big fight and acted very immature and like I was an inconvenience. The car I got had tons and tons of dents all over it so I then had to make sure that they saw every single one so that I did not get scammed even more.2.0 Poor

That the hidden costs actually result in that the great deal found in internet came out to twice the cost I expected. I have never found the difference to be so huge having rented vehicles in many countries. You need to give clients a more realistic total. It is a very negative surprise to find what the cost really is when you are picking up the car, and you feel helpless to find and alternative solution. You have no alternative but to pay what they want.2.0 Poor

First, if an interpreter who is Dominican had not accompanied me to the counter, this rental agreement could not be executed. The Budget representative's English was poor. Also, The Budget representative would not accept that I have rental car insurance coverage. I would not be allowed to rent a vehicle with out taking out additional insurance . Then the price for the coverage was negotiated with the help of my interpreter. I was asked to sign a blank credit card slip and a full text page written in Spanish. I refused to sign both. All of this occurred on the pick up. The return had its own set of challenges. The experience makes me question renting a vehicle with Budget, through Kayak and/or in Punta Cana again.Routes Car & Truck Rentals

It is a total rip off. Our confirmation stated that we would not have to pay anything else. They added over $250 to the agreed total. We spoke to their customer service desk and got no where. It's hard to explain, because I didn't really understand it myself. But I'll try: I book a car that was $101 for five days. When I got there the total price ended up being over $550.00. Apparently theres an insurance and other fees that are not mentioned when booking that is required to rent a car. They photo copy your ID, passport, and credit Card too. After it was all said and done. I choose not to rent the car and was charged a $50 no show fee.2.0 Poor
