When you choose car hire in Gandia, there’s no reason to limit yourself in terms of space. The wide streets in the newer parts of the city mean that there is plenty of room to manoeuvre in a standard-size economy vehicle or even in a larger vehicle, like an SUV. However, if you are based in Gandia's old town, you will probably feel more comfortable driving a compact car as the streets here are narrower and parking may be more difficult. If you want to enjoy plenty of days out along the coast, an SUV will give you great height to enjoy the scenery and the ocean views.

When you’re driving in Spain, you must pay attention to the speed limit signs and make sure you adjust your speed accordingly. Drivers travelling over the limit can receive a fine and the fines go up by approximately €100 (£90) for every 10 miles over the limit that you go. Speed limit signs are also displayed in km/h rather than mph, which can be confusing to UK drivers. If you are driving in an urban area in Spain, the speed limit is usually 50 km/h (30 mph), although this is lower in spaces with single-track roads or a high volume of foot traffic. Meanwhile, on single-carriageways, the speed limit is 70 km/h (45 mph), while on motorways, the speed limit is 120 km/h (75 mph). When driving on the motorway in Spain, you must also stick to the minimum speed limit of 60 km/h (35 mph).

Visitors to Gandia will find lots of free parking in and around the city centre. If you want to park your hire car in a secure, 24h covered car park, you can also find these in the centre. Paid car parks in Gandia usually charge around €1-2 (£0.8-1.7) for a 1h stay. If you are parking at the roadside in Gandia, you must park in a blue zone and display a ticket from one of the street side parking metres.
