Hotel Artetxe

Excellent breakfast buffet. Helpful, friendly staff. Good communication prior to visit.

No serious criticisms. The hotel is quite a way from central Bilbao, but its rural location can also be seen as a benefit. You could walk to the Guggenheim in about an hour, and there is an hourly bus service which stops right outside.

The room was very clean and quiet. The staff was also very friendly, professional, and helpful. The property is an old family farmstead renovated to a modern hotel. The room was small but spotlessly clean and very quiet. We were in a rental car and looking for some place to easily park. The inn is in a location above the city but is only 3-4 km from the funicular which take you directly to the center of the city in 3 minutes. From there it is an easy, pleasant walk to the old city and museums. The view was of the city at night from the hotel is stunning. We had breakfast both mornings we were there and it was fresh and plentiful- breads, cheeses, meats, tortilla, as well as fruits, yogurt, pastries and cereal. Coffee, tea and fresh juice were also included. I would definitely recommend unless you want to be in the buzz of the city.

It was an old farm house converted into a great hotel. The staff were very helpful The walk to Bilbao was easy but very easy to get lost initially. Breakfast was excellent

Some carpet on the floors would have dampened the sound of people leaving and returning to their rooms

Even though it was out of town, there was a good restaurant nearby. Lovely view from our room.
