The concierge John and David were excellent. They helped everyone with directions and tours. John helped me for an hour getting my bags back home. The LA fires were near my home and they were so comforting. My trip was delayed back home and they accomated me for a few more days stay. Art Deco small hotel that is beautiful and in the lobby, very clean and the hotel has a pleasant smell throughout. Lots of stores to shop. King size bed, hard wood floors, small window couch, really big closets! Very clean! Beautiful indoor, outdoor lobby. Lots of cafes nearby to eat. You can walk everywhere. There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants on Washington. This is the greatest location. They watched who came in and out of the lobby and greeted everyone that stayed there everyday. Close to the cruise terminal and Miami airport. An Uber or Lyft ride to both places was only $ 13.00. I met many return customers. This is my new vacation spot!

Cons: The flooring in each bedroom was wood and so unfortunately you could hear every footstep from the guests staying in room above - not great as they were very early risers!!! Also walls in room were thin so all in all very noisy. WiFi connection not brilliant and had to log in every time - slightly irritating - shame as it was nice hotel.

Jeremy ( receptionist/ customer service rep) was very rude and lacked essential customer service skills. I would not recommend this hotel for a family looking to relax.

Cons: The morning staff at the restaurant in front of the hotel need to remember that we do not owe them a living ( hotel guests) and to stop judging people with suitcases as to what potential tip they will get from them. They discussed this openly and instead of directing hotel guests with numerous suitcases to the ramp or to assist them in some way they just blocked the hotel guests way and the hotel guest had to move to accommodate the restaurant staff. Definitely not a great start to a stay at the Beacon. Evening staff were a lot more pleasant and accommodating.

Cons: I've stayed in hotels for the past 25 years. This was one of my worst experience. My room had 2 queen sized beds and it was the smallest room I've ever seen. After fitting 2 queen beds there was no space left to even walk. Smallest side tables which can not be used for
anything. Small closet, the doors of which won't open. Miniscule bathroom. They charge $10 resort fee per day which includes towels and beech chairs. When I asked for extra towels, the front desk lady sternly mentioned "you have already taken 4 (when I had taken only 2 and wanted 2 more) and refused to give anymore). Jose at The front desk was very helpful and always smiling otherwise this is a rip off. No pool, awful drinks and nothing else I would recommend. Stay away from this place. I had horrible experience. Hope you don't!!!

Pros: The front desk tried their best to resolve the mistake with the booking and we got a free breakfast the first day. The breakfast was great and the serving staff very friendly.
Cons: We booked a double queen room but the hotel only had a single king room on our reservation. This was resolved, we got upgraded to a junior suite for the first night but one of the beds was a sofa bed that was not very comfortable and we then had to move to a double queen room the next day when it became available. The description on booking.com at the time of our booking listed that the hotel provided two sunbeds, beach towels on the nearby beach for a resort fee. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was to be able to use their beach. When we arrived they informed us that they no longer provide the beach beds and they don't charge the resort fee either. We were given a couple of beach towels however. Our room was very small for a double queen room (we could not open all 3 suitcases at once and it was dirty (hair and other dirt that clearly was not from us was in the room when we arrived). Our room was not serviced during our stay.

Cons: The sadly deserted pool and common areas, the welcome was on the rough mechanical side as well (smile please) But one thing that really annoyed me most is that they throw away 100's of Nestle plastic water bottles a day, completely irresponsible in 2019.

Cons: Everything, they had no do not disturb signs entered our room without our permission after telling the staff to not enter. Then charged us 800$ cleaning fee and didn’t clean anything. We were gonna clean the room before we left. Overall this hotel is terrible beds r terrible no sheets for pull out couch and the pillows are terrible. I rate this hotel a -1 on the star scale!

Cons: With the exception of Catarina the AM receptionist and the maintenance guy, all the rest need to be trained about how to deal with guests, they lacked of empathy and problem solving skills. The room. It didn't look like the one on the site. The pictures are fake. We were 4 in the room and the sofa was broken, the mattress very thin and with mold. There is not housekeeping service after 7 pm. If you arrive after that time you have to set up the bed yourselves. I paid more of 200 dollars per night to sleep without bedclothes, with a strong noise from the toilet and the AC. Incredible! I complained with the receptionist and the manager, they did nothing. They do not care about the clients. The receptionist told me I could go to another hotel if I was not happy, at midnight, with my 15 year old daughter! My worst hotel experience ever!!

My room was 320, the last one on the floor and I didn't hear a noise. The only thing that bothered me was that the TV went on at 8.30 each morning as some guest must have programmed it. But the rest was perfect, even the airport shuttle.

I was originally placed on the first floor and had a hard time sleeping so I asked if it would be possible to be moved to another room. This wasn't a simple request and I received much pushback but was eventually moved to the second floor to an even noisier room!!! I had the most terrible nights of sleep here. The beds aren't comfortable, the sinks are very small, and the rooms are dimly lit. The staff are rude and unhelpful and expect to be tipped for mediocre/poor service. The front desk staff are terrible and the bartenders are terrible. The hotel itself isn't very nice compared to others in the area, and offers no amenities (no pool, no workout room, no business area, no free breakfast).

Pros: I traveled on my own and had a great time at the Whitelaw. I read the comments from people about the noise and asked for a room on the 3rd floor. My room was 320, the last one on the floor and I didn't hear a noise. The only thing that bothered me was that the TV went on at 8.30 each morning as some guest must have programmed it. But the rest was perfect, even the airport shuttle.

Cons: I participated in the world seniors tournament in Miami. We rented 5 rooms from the hotel and stayed for 15 days each. I made a mistake with my check out date and was under the impression that I needed to check out by 2 November. When I arrived at the hotel 14h on 1 November the hotel informed me that I needed to check out I immediately packed my bags and were out by 1445. The guests staying in my room checked in at 1600 which is normal check in time. The hotel slapped me with a USD 193 penalty not even sure how they got to that amount as I paid around USD 110 per day. When I tried discussing this with management they were very agressive and just said that is the penalty and I need to pay. I said I didnt have a room and can I at least get a room as I paid usd 193. They refused. We also had to leave the hotel every morning around 7am to go and play tennis breakfast only were served from 830 we asked if an arrangement could be made to have breakfast earlier again the answer was no. I have requested to be refunded the penalty and am waiting for feedback. Total unhappy traveller!

Cons: Reception staff always unavailable. I arrived at 4 pm the room was not ready, I had to wait 30 minutes with other clients that arrived 20 minutes before me to get the room ready. Every day you have to reactivate the room key, and you have to search for staff to serve you.

Cons: I didn't like how me and my family had to wait for about 2hrs for the systems to get back on in order to check in . I especially didn't like how I was next in line to check in and the guest service agent told me "Sorry they were waiting before you " when the manager clearly told them the systems were back up after she let me know . I didn't understand why the guest agent did that , but it was completely unprofessional . There was no accommodation besides the half hour of 'free drinks' . I couldn't even check out at 12pm instead of 11am

Pros: I liked that the property was close to everything. I could walk from the property to a near by restaurant or store.
Cons: I didn’t like the service that I received from the night staff. The lady at the check-in was very rude. I booked a standard king size room an she downgraded us to room with two double beds. And still charged us for the standard king size room. We questioned the charges an she stated when we book through a 3party site you never know what your gonna get. Then rolled her eyes an walked away from the desk.. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all!!!!

Pros: This hotel does not have an elevator and it’s 3 different buildings which was not stated in the comments for the hotel. First room smelled like mildew and mold and staff acted like they couldn’t smell it. BUT....once I complained they were happy to give me a different room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. When I told them about the stairs they sent someone to come and move my luggage from one room to the next. Overall experience cool...

Pros: The location is great! In close walking distant to everything but not too noisy. The rooms are a little dated but that’s the south beach experience.
Cons: Our room was ok not bad at all. There were a couple of problems. Once it started raining, water literally was pouring down in our room. Although staff came immediately they didn’t move us or try to fix it. We had to constantly call for new towels because although housekeeping came and clean up they forgot the towels each time! The pull out couch is extremely uncomfortable!

Cons: The suites are in a completely other building which is confusing. There was no one to help us with our luggage and although the main build (which is hard to distinguish because it looks like a bar) has an elevator, the suites build had none and we had to carry all our luggage up three flights of stairs. The ice machine was in the main building so any time we needed ice we had to walk back to that building and get it from the bar. The closet doors were broken. The wood on the futon was broken as well which I reported the first hour being there. I was charged for a bottle of white wine (which I have a heart condition and can not drink) and when I asked to have it removed and show me proof I have yet to receive a word from them. Overall it was one of the worst experiences of my life, I ended up checking into a Sheraton later on and it was so much better. I’ll never return.

Pros: The Colony property location was great right on south beach. The hotel is under renovation so there is no restaurant or outside seating at this time. No loud noise could be heard. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel supplied you with a refrigerator in your room but no microwave. The best part of our stay at the hotel was our dealings with Alfredo. Alfredo made us feel right at home. He was wonderful, very kind and hard working. We loved Alfredo

Cons: The hotel is under renovation and no where prior to booking was that made clear or even mentioned. I’ve stayed places with renovations in progress before, and they’re fine but if you’re going to stay open you need to be on top of everything and sadly that was not the case. The front and the entrance are surrounded by scaffolding wrapped in a tarp like screen that was splattered with black dirt or mold all over the bottom at street level with dirt and trash trapped within. More than once we had to step around trash and other things on the front steps which were dirty. No one seems to be paying any attention to the outside. The lobby bar, which is normally a front of the house attraction, was not open. It was ripped apart with dust and debris - all visible to guests. No work in that area went on during our entire stay. Exposed wires with no caps from missing smoke alarms and lights in common areas were brought to the attention of the front desk who said “hopefully they’ll address it before they leave ...”. Two days in a row the key card wouldn’t work and had to be reset by the desk. The shower had no hot water so I notified the desk clerk who wasn’t at the desk but in a chair by the door on her phone, who said “I’ll call maintenance” but didn’t get out of her seat until after I left. I returned 4 hours later ( the key card didn’t work again so I went back down) then went back up and checked the hot water which still didn’t work. Went back down and was then told “oh ya the maintenance person said just turn it on a little and let it run a while. Don’t turn it all over to hot...”. So i went back up and I did and only got a bit of warm. Instead of fixing it they opted to leave me to try to figure it out. I went back down and requested another room and the clerk was very nice about it and when I voiced my displeasure about the lack of maintenance, she apologized and agreed, but it was what she was told to say... The second room was better.

Cons: The front if the hotel was scaffolded and covered in white sheets. We never saw any notifications on their website that this was happening. Also the staff could not really understand us speaking English. We were disappointed as soon as we saw the hotel at the front. We asked to use the toilet in arrival but as we were too early and room was not ready was shown to a toilet around the side of the building. This was disgusting! Dirty, 2 doors had no locks, only the 3rd one. However eventually when we got into our room thankfully our bed was comfortable and the room was quite large. When my husband went to shave and shower the next morning there was no hot water, it was barely tepid. As a travel agent I will not be recommending this hotel to others.
