I want my money back. The Payless team didn’t honor my deal through Kayak, claiming I had to show an international drivers permit (which is counter to the guidance from both Kayak and Expedia.) They said I’d need to get my refund from Kayak on my own. And on top of that, they didn’t even have the Intermediate SUV I had booked but rather a small SUV that was a worn out 2019 model. This was the worst car rental experience I’ve ever had or even heard of.
This is not an ACTUAL Payless! It is a sub francize with their name. I booked with my Platinum AMEX points to get the car free. However, upon arrival they told me they do not take AMEX so I ended up paying out of pocket for a car. (yes I called AMEX on site but after 20+min on hold...) Car was not clean inside, if you do not take their insurance they block 1,500 EUROS! Recommend going with 6th or the other rental car companies rather than this one.
Staff (Marian) made the whole process quick and effective. He was also super helpful when I decided to extend the trip/rental on the fly. Good car, amazing prices, smooth process.
Payless didn’t exist at Sibiu airport, tried calling the number but couldn’t get through, ended up going with a different company
I booked online with a quote of $150, but when I picked up the car, there were multiple hidden fees that took the price up to 199 EUR. The car was in terrible condition. Even the key fob was missing all the buttons except the unlock button. There were stains on all the seats and a cigarette burn in the passenger seat (although it didn't smell like smoke). One of the tire pressure sensors had gone bad, so it showed a tire pressure error for the duration of the rental. Fortunately, the man working the desk was very polite, and he said that was the only car they had or he would have given us another. Still, that car should be retired.
