Cons: Only my first day was I able to use the sauna. I was the one who had to discover that it is broken and over heating. I had a burn mark from the previous day and the next morning I discovered that the thermo meter is not working any more it was extremely hot in there and since they could not fix the problem they had to shut it down for the rest of my stay... I was disappointed since that was the reason I booked Kempinski...

Pros: This hotel was in the most perfect location! The Xmas market was right behind the hotel, the river and Chain bridge were about 2-3 blocks away, and the famous shopping street, Vaci uti was 1 block away. The rooms were so comfortable, and they provided slippers and plush bathrobes.
Cons: The perfumed smell in the lobby and hallways was a bit overwhelming (luckily it did not permeate the rooms or it would have been a problem). They kept playing an Ad for their hotel on the TV which I found sexist and offensive (showing their maid taking a bubble bath and dressing in a lace thong before coming to work at the Kempinski hotel chain (what is that all about?).

The rooms was super spacious and comfortable, included a full kitchen, dining and lounge area, plus bedroom and laundry. Also had a great experience at the restaurant, Entree. 6 Star, Would recommend it to anyone traveling to Budapest.

Cons: Parking is a lil bit expensive compared with other hotels. On the first look, rooms look really nice, but it is easy to see in some corners minor reparations could be necessary. I would say, a better technical maintenance would keep rooms looking newer.

Cons: When we arrived to celebrate our anniversary, we were told we had been allocated a twin room as requested. I showed the staff our confirmation and we were told there were no other rooms available unbelievably until the following day. We returned mid afternoon next day and asked if our new room was ready to be told none available. After insisting they look again an upgraded room was miraculously found to which we moved. Upon checkout we had been charged the upgrade price but only for one of the two nights due to our inconvenience. Do not plan to stay there again.

Pros: Excellent location and great breakfast. Concierge staff excellent, we needed to get a taxi to the country and she ordered the taxi then came out to talk to the drive to ensure he new where to take us.
Cons: Check in staff not very welcoming, in fact he was on the phone for some of the process, didn't offer any information about the hotel, breakfast times etc. Only one pair of slippers in the room and two towels for a Twin room, called housekeeping to ask for more items to be brought to the room, an hour later they still hadn't brought them so had to call again. Next day no towels in room as they had run out, left a note in room to say they would be delivered but they never did. Obviously don't cope well if the hotel is full.

Cons: The hotel smells like sewer gas, everywhere. The rooms are outdated, dingy, and dirty. Housekeeping was lazy or poorly trained. This hotel did not maintain the standards of other Sofitels. However, the staff were friendly. I sought compensation for the problems encountered and they gave us free transportation to the train station.

Pros: The receptionists were generally VERY helpful, including one who worked the phone for ten or fifteen minutes and got me an incomprehensible deal on a personal day trip to the tokaji wine region, picked up and dropped off at the hotel, with tours of three vineyards and tastings with the nicest guide ever, scheduled less than two days before the trip. This wad a highlight of my stay in Hungary. They also let me extend my stay for two additional nights jist the day before my scheduled checkout, although the cost of the room went up rather significsntly (it was very cheap to start, though, considering the quality of the hotel). The typical hotel provisions to the room are rather minimal though (soap extremely tiny, no slippers, only one box of tissues), so I found myself asking for things at the front desk a lot, which made me feel a bit awkward.

Pros: Such a unique and lovely hostel. The location was wonderful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and they serve free dinner 3 nights a week! I really enjoyed using the kitchen and that there was a common space for everyone to hang out, it was a good way to make friends and meet new people.
Cons: The free breakfast left more to be desired, but they do have a free coffee machine where you can make assorted drinks.

Pros: The Location just on the edge of the town on the riverside is excellent. if your expecting the sterile look of a premier inn or other large chain of hotels then don't stay here. The Gellert gives you glimpse of a bygone age. Wood panelling and colourful glass decorate the interior. Yes its a bit frayed around the edges, but then so am I and I am not 100 years old. The service was attentive and helpful and the facilities more than acceptable for its price bracket and rating. Yes you can get a more modern and predictable experience but I consider myself an individual character in life and so the Gellert has individual character. I came to see the city of Budapest and not spend all my time looking under the carpet for hotel faults, so savour its uniqueness, charm, history and enjoy. Thank you for the experience.

Pros: The hotel is old but clean and well maintained. Our rooms were large and the bathrooms huge by European standards. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast is great and access is very easy by metro and bus, both right across the street from the hotel. The thermal spas were fantastic and although busy not crowded. Use the spas on the side of the swimming pool, it attracts less visitors. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Will certainly return.

Pros: Staff was attentive and pleasant. Breakfast is amazing, huge and many choices which is included in room price. Price was very reasonable. Access to the bath house is so convenient and guests get discounted entry, it's wonderful to walk down in your big terry cloth robe and enjoy the bath house, towels are also provided by the hotel, added perk. Tram is directly across the street and allows access to all directions in the city. Views are stunning of the bridges and river. We were there in November so not crowded at all.
Cons: The furniture in the rooms is shabby chic, looks like the original furniture from 1918. Despite the furniture it's comfortable and the linens are clean and good quality. They could use new pillows, they are down but very flat.

The SPA IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT: it reminds me an old hotel swimming pool with freezing cold water.

Pros: L'hôtel est très propre. Le style est rétro et ça donne du charme au lieu. Si vous devez utiliser un taxi pour vous rendre à l'aeroport ou inversémment, préférer alors de passer par l'hôtel afin de vous le réservez. Héler un taxi revient des fois au double du prix (arnaque) mais limite drôle, on ne s'est pas fait avoir. L'hôtel est grand. Le déjeuner peut se prendre dans une grande salle commune où l'on remplis son assiette à volonté.
Cons: La chambre était fort petite, et les photos ne rendent absolument pas les dimensions. L'hôtel est situé proche de la gare Keleti mais pour se promener aux abords de l'hôtel, il faut marcher un peu avant de se trouver dans les quartiers intéressants pour le touriste. Cela dit, les métros et bus sont nombreux et tout est facile d'accès une fois qu'on parvient à se situer.

Pros: One-year-old hotel that's trying really hard. Great value for money. It seems a bit out-of-the-way on the map but it's a three minute walk to the closest Metro Station and from there 3 to 5 stops to do all that you need to see in central Budapest. The rooms are quite spacious for a budget hotel but the bed configuration is a bit unusual for a large single beds head to toe. Rooms have a microwave fridge and safe with Apple closet space and even a bookshelf. I'm not mistaken the rooms away from the road all have a balcony. Wi-Fi is fast and TV channel selection has 3 to 4 new stations in English, at least one station in French, German, Italian, along with regular stations in Hungarian. I think they're still learning how to do breakfast and some things tend to run out if you don't get there early but it wouldn't stop me staying there again.
Cons: They are expanding hotel and you do you hear some construction in the morning and this is likely to continue for at least another six months from June 2017, I would guess. We're not a lot of other places to eat in the area but again you're only two or three minutes away from the metro stop by Budapest central line.
