Customer service was extremely rude. He informed me car was not available and offered me to pay twice the rate of my reservation for a different car. When I refused his offer, he give me back my credit card and driving licenses and told me to go else where.

The customer service was ok they could of done a better job at explaining each service since I had noticed later they charged me roadside assistance even though I didn’t agreed to it. Also the I had to switch cars since the first car was in a really bad condition especially during a pandemic times they should take a little more time and cleaning there vehicles.

The car I got had more dents than San Diego has breweries. It had crank up windows. We had 1 key that would only open up the driver door/start the car and no automatic door locks Be careful if using Payless. It seems like pay less, get less.

The car’s check engine light was on the entire rental period and the car sounded like the battery could have died any minute. Also they charge an additional fee in case the car breaks down and you need assistance.

I didn’t like the experience at all. I made a reservation and paid for it in advance. First the car wasn’t there and they offered me a different car and asked me to pay more. After I told them I didn’t like that, he gave me my credit card and ID back and offered I go else where in a rude way. I did though get my car at budget next door which were very nice and had the car available which I reserved half an hour before pick up and they didn’t charge me extra at pick up

My wife and I enjoyed the flexibility within the car choice category. The car we picked was very comfortable for the travel we scheduled. The only detriment we observed with the rental was that the vehicle had over 60,000 miles on it at the time of the rental.

I rented a car that had broken blinkers. Thought this was something they checked for before letting people onto the road. Could be dangerous and I would have been extremely angry if I had gotten a ticket or in an accident. When I returned it and told the attendant, they did not seem apologetic or like they cared.

Nothing very rude and was not very helpful also when we canceled one reservation and tried to get another reservation with the guy at the counter he jacked up the price from $570 to over $3000 for a week use.

Car was very dirty inside. I used cleaning wipes that turned black after wiping off the steering wheel. Sticky stuff on the control knobs on dashboard. Turned on air vents and smelled like cigarette smoke, which I did not catch until I had left the rental location. No windshield wiper fluid. I dropped it off at enterprise and told them, to be disregarded and now they are charing me for the smoke smell which made me sick on the drive and was not from me. WORST rental I have had.

My car was booked for 12 they called me earlier to see if I would accept a 2pm pick up and I agreed. When I got there they told me my car was being cleaned and gas and that it would take 15-25. After an hour I received a dirty car with half a can of soda in the center storage and 3/4ths of a tank of gas. The car worked fine… but I’m not using enterprise ever again. I got traffic going to LA and was late to an appointment.

Excellent all around. Super professional at pick up and drop off. We rented a cheap compact SUV. We arrived at 10 pm and they were out of that size. So they offered me a 2021 MERCEDES or BMW SUV for same price!!!! Unbelievable. Super thrilled about the ease of getting out of the airport and for dropping off. I will for sure use Enterprise again. And Kayak had the cheapest prices too

I realize that the covid-related car shortage is affecting everyone. Finally found a car to drive from San Diego to Palm Springs, since my flight had been cancelled. Too bad it was almost $200! (My suitcase is still en route to Palm Springs--flight delayed. I left Washington, DC for Palm Springs Wednesday at 9am and was supposed to arrive at 2pm Wednesday. Oh well...)

I was overcharged about $1200 from the agreed upon rate because, according to Dollar, I dropped the car off at a different location than originally stated, which is not true. I dropped the car off according to schedule about an hour before it was due. There was no employee at the drop-off site, and the instructions said to leave the keys in the car. So I did, and Dollar ripped me off by charging me over twice what I had expected to pay. After contacting Dollar, they refuse to refund me. I'm never going to them again.

Efficient Pick Up.I paid for a Land Rover Discovery, I received an Infiniti. The car had 30,000 plus miles, with stains on the interior ceiling. There was minimal space in any of the rows and virtually no cargo space, despite being advertised as three large bags and seven people. VERY POOR experience and certainly not the luxury SUV I paid for.

The car that was assigned to me was not in the parking space. We (me and an employee) walked through the lot for 15 min trying to locate it. They assigned me a new car and it was also hard to find. Huge waste of time.

Drop off is great but the pick up was HORRIBLE. we booked through Priceline and paid in advance. When we got to the counter we had to pay AGAIN (contested) even though I showed them I had already paid THEN we had to put down a security deposit (understandable but not explained in advance). After 45 minutes of the agent trying to complete the paperwork, we finally left the counter to pick up the car. When we get the the garage and look in space marked, it’s EMPTY. Searched all over garage and head back to counter only to be told it’s in another area of the garage - nowhere near where we had been told to look. Come on Thrifty, get your act together.

The car was an upgraded convertible (since a regular convertible was not available) and was in good shape and everything worked well. The staff were nice - we waited maybe 15-20 minutes in line and drop off was super fast and the shuttle was waiting to take us to the airport. I would definitely use Thrifty again!

Thrifty/Dollar's airport rental pickup line was L-O-N-G upon our arrival in San Diego. We had a long wait to pick up a car we had already reserved. Not enough people working the counters! The gal we had, though, was very patient and kind. But, even when we had already purchased third-party car insurance from Kayak, we were strongly encouraged to buy even more from Thrifty--an unexpected cost. That was irritating. Having finally gotten the paperwork done, we were sent to the car garage where it was very unclear as to what we were supposed to do! Aisles of categorized cars and so few people to ask for assistance. SO FRUSTRATING! We eventually found out we were just supposed to pick one out in our category! The Chevy Spark we picked out, though, was a great small car for the 2 of us--easy to drive, great gas mileage, could fit in tight parking spots, and great turning radius. However, the AC blower was wonky and did not work correctly all the time (and we really needed it while driving in the desert!). We really wanted properly working AC. Returning the car at J. Wayne Airport in Newport Beach was somewhat confusing, as well. We found out there were not enough people to do that job properly either--like properly checking the car for any damages. They took our paperwork and went off with it, with us not knowing if there would be any additional charges until they emailed us. Very frustrating, again. I guess the car rental companies just can't find people willing to work for them. They seem very short-handed.

A bit of a wait to pick up car and did not get the car originally indicated, but satisfactory alternate car. We had to ask them to make note of some small scratches and dings already on the car. Car worked great during our travels and was reliable. Drop off was pretty stressful- way too many travelers and not enough shuttle buses and staff

FOB was low on battery. Was locked out of my car because the FOB wouldn't open the door with my dog inside. Missed my flight. Windshield fluid didn't work. Indication showed hood was open even though it was closed. Windshield wiper fluid didn't work. Im a frequent car renter (usually rent every other week for work). After this experience, I'll never use Budget again.

The car I was originally given wouldn't start due to warnings indicating problems with the oil pressure, brakes and power steering. It seems like something the staff should have discovered, rather than leaving it to me to report after being assigned the car. The staff was good about quickly finding me a replacement vehicle.

It is rare to find personal, caring service in our services industries today. Alfredo provided a clean, well maintained vehicle, on time with no waiting. The drop-off was quick and easy as well. Will definitely use this Budget location when I am back in San Diego.

When I picked up the car, there was no windshield wiper fluid in the car so I had to go out and buy some fluid and have a mechanic put it in. Avis reimbursed me for the cost, but they should have checked the fluid before renting me the car in the first place. Also, they didn't do a good job of cleaning the car; there was some paper and stuff left in it from the previous renter.

The cars were great. The tank wasn't filled when I got the first van and when I returned they were trying to charge me. The lady in the El Paso location wasn't working and she didn't change it, but they were really accommodating. Also I never agreed to a 115 insurance for the second car and so I had to pay that, which I don't remember saying yes to.

Good evening I arrive to drop off my car at Avis, I came a day early the charge was more expensive than it was told to me on the website. The lady that received the car charge me for gas $50 more she told an absolute lie about how much gas was in the car she charge me $101 when I had a half of a tank of gas which should’ve been half of the hundred dollars. At that point she couldn’t help me she sent me inside to change the amount and when I did that I was charged two times so my credit card amount was held up due to the fact that they did not alleviate one of the charges they added another charge on top of it so my credit card has 2000 and $200 charge from Avis when it should’ve been way less so my experience was not as good as I thought it was going to be I am very disappointed in the life of the lady you had representing you in the parking lot to receive my car I had to make her come and look at the gas with me to verify that it was a half of a tank And not 1/3 of a tank she finally looked after I ask her three times this was very disappointing that someone would do this. The money that I earn is very well appropriated for my living expenses and I do not need anyone taking advantage of me and making me pay more than I should for anything that is not a representative of Avis I’m sure . Can you please rectify the extra charge on my credit card so that I am able to use that amount of money in the very very very near future thank you if you have any questions you can also give me a call and I will tell you the same thing I did like the fact that I could take my car to Ontario and drop it off because I had to pick up another car that I had just purchased so thank you for your service and please speak with this representative so that she will not do this to anyone else it is very unfair to your patrons have a blessed new year.

I'm Avis Preferred, and the experience could have been great. As we waited for our luggage at the airport, I got a text that our car was ready and waiting for us. The problem was that it wasn't the car I reserved, and it didn't work for our family. So, I had to wait through a line to get that problem fixed, instead of just walking straight to our car on arrival. That was the only hitch. Everything else went as planned and was very easy.

They charged me for damage on the car that I didn't cause. There are so many reviews out there stating that this is a common scam that they run. No one reviewed the supposed damage with me at drop-off, instead I had to wait to receive the accusation via email after I had already flown out of state and couldn't contest it in person. This is a very shady business and I would strongly urge anybody not to rent from them.

I recently had a rental from Sixt during my trip to San Diego and LAX. The experience was SEVERELY TRAUMATIC and a DISGRACE to your company. We picked up a Chevrolet SUV on 1/5. On 1/6, while driving up the Pacific Highway, we got a flat tire. We had a difficult time getting in contact with the representative (one hung up on us), and when we were finally able to have your faulty front right tire replaced, we were told that we would have to use the spare. The lovely individual who changed the tire to the spare was the only positive part of the entire Sixt experience (and he didn’t even work for Sixt!). It was likely a pinhole that split. We were told that the spare only could be driven 50 miles, while we were 58 miles from LAX, where we were supposed to trade out the dud vehicle. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN DURING THOSE 8 ADDITIONAL MILES IF THE SPARE DID NOT HOLD?! Additionally, we were told we could not exceed 50 mph for safety reasons on the California freeway. This was my first time driving in Southern California, and to have to ride in the right lane on a 6 lane freeway for 55 miles praying that the car would be able to get back to trade in with my elderly and sickly mother in the passenger seat was ONE OF THE MOST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES OF OUR LIVES, full of panic, stress, fear for our safety and lives. THERE ARE NO PLACES TO PULL OVER ON A FREEWAY IF THERE IS AN ISSUE! When we returned, the girl said the tear looked like it must have spread. We were given an “UPGRADE” to a Mercedes SUV when we finally arrived back. As we pulled in to return the car, the low air pressure light went on. Now, after returning the vehicle, I received a notification via email today from SIXT that your REPLACEMENT VEHICLE that was supposed to have been upgraded also had a FAULTY FRONT RIGHT TIRE. Frankly, your company is running a SCAM for customers. WE ONLY HAD EACH VEHICLE FOR 24 HOURS! HOW COULD THERE BE AN ISSUE WITH BOTH VEHICLES, FRONT RIGHT TIRE, WITHIN THAT TIME?! Are you buying faulty front-right tires and pawning this off on customers??? This is a SAFETY HAZARD!!! CUSTOMERS WHO RENT CARS DESERVE TO BE SAFE!!! Within 48 hours of our rental experience, BOTH of your vehicles that you have us had faulty front right tires. GIVING CUSTOMERS DEFECTIVE RENTAL CARS IS A DISGUSTING PRACTICE! This ruined our trip and caused severe trauma and distress to my elderly mother and me. We demand a full refund for this experience.

They did not have the small SUV (Nissan Kicks) that I had reserved. They then tried to upgrade me to a Toyota Camry FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE even though they could not fulfill my chosen car type. Finally, they put me in a Volkswagen Jetta, which I told them I did not want earlier in the bait and switch portion of the pick up. I reluctantly accepted the Jetta when it beecame clear that it was take that car or get NO car. It turned out to be a nice car after all and got great gas mileage, but was very low for my 95 year old mother to sit in. Then, when I showed proof of my pre-purchased Auto Insurance policy they acted like I was a criminal. They car I took had numerous dents and scratches, and it took a lengthy trip back to the counter to find someone who would update the faulty pre-rental check out form to show the sideswipe of the vehicle. I will not rent from SixT again....far too low a budget spent on employees. More help at check out, and options beyond one car for the class when you do not have the reserved vehicle.

Spent 1.5 hours waiting on line at the rental office. Only one employee working the desk at the San Diego airport.... Ridiculous. Then the employee kept trying to upsell us rather than just execute the original premade rental as requested online.

Took a whole hour to pick up the car because they didn't have enough personnel. Drop off was a nightmare. Drop off was inside Hilton but there were no indications whatsoever. To add insult to injury I was charged a late delivery fee because I was 20 minutes late returning the car while I wasted over 30 minutes looking where to go and 1 hour to pick up the car. Ludicrous. LAX must be a low traffic location because no one works on Sunday. I had to drop off keys and paperwork in a box and hope for the best.

The individual checking us in tried to sell us on a cheaper option to find out it wasn't cheaper and we had to go back to our initial reservation. It ended up taking us nearly 30 minutes to check-in for a reservation that we had settled online in advance.

I rented a pickup truck from Hertz. It was very easy to pick up and drop off. On both, I spent less than 15 minutes on pick up and drop off. The truck was in great shape and was a pleasure to drive. The only problem I have with this truck is that now I want one for myself.

I arrived at the San Diego airport to find that Economy Car rental had closed its San Diego location 4 months prior. I book the reservation 48 hours prior to arrival. So my reservation was made to a closed location. Luckily, another rental car company was able to assist me with a vehicle, bit at a much higher rate.

We couldn't find the car rental company so we went with a different one last minute. I think they moved to a different location, so we call ed them to come pick us up or for further instructions but no one answered the phone number that was given to us on the reservation.

I’d never heard of Fox prior to my wife renting from Fox in Tampa and had no issues. My experience in San Diego was equally good. Wait time at the rental agent was a reasonable 10 minutes. Picking up the car was just like every other rental company I’ve used. Prices competitive. Drop off at the end of the rental took 2 minutes. No complaints.

When I got to the location, they didn’t have the car I booked. I ended up having to pay double what I prepaid for to get a vehicle that smelled like smoke and had stains on the seat. I ended up using a large portion of the next day of my vacation to exchange it for another car. Not satisfied with my experience

Poor service at pick up. Our flight had been delayed. The class I had reserved and paid for was not available and despite my insistence that this was not right I was charged for an upgrade to the only car left. I had to contact fox afterwards and question the practice in order to rectify this.

Reserved car on line for same day for a good price. Went to pick up car and told that on line reservations cannot be made for same day but for 24 hours later. Nowhere did it say that on website and if this the case, reservation should not have been accepted. Passed on to another rental company for higher price. Not happy!

Rented a Toyota 4 runner for a reasonable price. It had 60K miles on it, smelled funny and the steering wheel would vibrate above 70 MPH. During pickup our original 4 runner had 500 miles and was brand new. The attendant stood there and watched us install 2 car seats and during the checkout process he told us that vehicle was on hold and we couldn’t take it. That was very annoying right after a 6 hour flight.

The rep up charged us and wouldn’t honor the price of the quote even though I showed her the email confirmation and itinerary. She was very rude and pushy - poor customer service. On top of not honoring the price she tried to charge us for 3 days when we only needed it for 2 days. Will never use Ace/Mex Rent A Car again.

The Ace rental that Kayak recommended to use (through a deal of course) was over 30 minutes away from the airport and required multiple shuttles. Once we got there, they overcharged us and forced an upgrade.

It was simple to reserve the car/SUV online. Down sides were, you had to take another shuttle from the regular airport shuttle to the rental place. The other down side was after leaving the rental lot, the check engine light came on (it happens). They immediately switched vehicles out without any issues (appreciate that). Maria was very helpful. Thank you. Easy rent, good experience.

Actually kayak was fine. However, the car rental they suggested did not have airport shuttle, even though that was started. San Diego has restricted access to the main terminal for car companies. When you reach the RENTAL CAR CENTER, on a shuttle bus, you will find no counters for Mex or Ace. You must call them on a separate line and wait outside for THEIR shuttle. It was a little over and hour before I was on my way. This fact needs to be rectified.

When I arrived with my Kayak reservation for unlimited mileage and no distance restrictions I was told I could not have the car reserved because I planned to drive more than 150 miles [their limit] per day [I planned to drive to Yuma, AZ] I could not drive out of state [no such restriction on the Kayak confirmation notice]. This was the worst experience I have had in all the years of renting vehicles. I have never seen such restrictions on a reserved car. MEXRENT restrictions should be in big text for you to see. There was no text on my reservation warning of these restrictions. DO NOT EVER USE MEXRENT

The car I rented was dirty inside and the interior windows were dusty and need to be thoroughly cleaned. I ended up having to wipe down the steering wheel, the dash board and everything around the front seats, the doors, etc. In addition, the windshield wiper fluid was low and ran out as I was trying to clean the windshield. Therefore, I would like to request that I get some kind of refund for this filthy car that was not well taken care of, cleaned or sanitized when I picked up the car.

Booked a van pickup 5pm and drop off at same time 2 days later. The day off, 3 hours before pickup, I get a phone call from the location telling me I need to pickup an hour early because they decide to close at 4 “today”. Of fine. “Oh and also you need to drop off before 10am in 2 days because we will be closed at 10am”. “Or you can pay an extra $60 for late drop off”. What?? Late drop off would mean I extend pass my 24h, which I’m not!! If you decide to close early how does that become my problem?? Very disappointing.

Booked a van for 2 days w/ 150 mile per day. Arrived at location to be told that policies “of this specific branch” have changed and are now 150 “per rental” (!!!??) Long story short it’s obvious Non sense. Worker at location didn’t show any compassion and on the phone corporate couldn’t do anything because “we are reservation center and customer center only works week days”. Customer service non existent, bummer for loyal and respectful customers like us but I guess that’s the way it goes now.

I can accurately rate this—they never showed up to pick me up. I waited a half hour for the shuttle and finally had to rent another car because I had a meeting in another town. I sincerely hope they didn’t charge my credit card.

Poor attitude. Had to wait for an hr and dealt with screw you attitude from the front desk. The place was dirty and shady. The van was old (60k + miles) and dirty. It was conveniently near the airport so that is a plus. Most of all is the lady at the front desk who was awful.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The drop off was super easy. We had a terrific vehicle for the cost.Didn't love that we had to go to the transit center for rentals & from there take another van (that we had to call & wait for). Also, we had to return by 2 or be charged extra to return it later to a different location (it was a Sat)- those were the only downsides to an otherwise great experience.

Never rent from this placeNothing.It was a bait and switch in that I seriously doubt they even own a Corolla or similar economy car. Granted, they weren’t going to raise the price....but then the car they were trying to give me (after an interminable wait) was actually a huge dirty van...that had very significant damage from having been sideswiped. We are talking major body damage. So yeah, no thanks. Place is godawful. And they have signs everywhere about how you really need the insurance because this would cost X and that would cost Y. (Maybe take the money you earned from the sideswiping job and spend it on the needed body work?). Pretty ominous, and give everything else I’d seen of this company...but yeah, trying to drive around the city (parallel park, etc.) in a huge damaged dirty van? No thanks.

Overall it was a great deal for the Van. Only we had to pay an extra $100 because we dropped it off in LA and I didn’t realize this until we made our final payment. The staff was very nice and accommodating during the pick up process. We had no problem riding the shuttle to the rental car area but it was a little confusing because the van rental is off site so we had to take another van ( which the number was there to call for a pick up) this might need to be disclosed in the advertisement.

"Upgraded" us to a minivan, which I had no use for and made parking slightly less convenient. Not much to praise. Obviously you go with these folks (or equivalent) because of cost.Pleasant enough agent. Tried to up-sell on the pre-paid fuel but the "convenience" would have added $20 to the bill ... and I'm here because spending money on rental cars is not a form of entertainment. Just keep expectations low and you'll be fine.

It got us where we wanted to go.It was a 2014 diesel. The charger for the phone didn't work. Staff tried to talk us into a larger vehicle, getting their insurance instead of what I got online and convinced us to purchase a 4 day toll device by telling us there were tolls where we were traveling. Once and never againBasically nothingCar I had contracted for was not available, offered me a minivan instead, not interested, was traveling by myself and wanted fuel economy. Agent said that I could return the next day to swap out for something more appropriate, but, due to my schedule, it would have taken me a whole day's drive to come back for the swamp...As an alternative, I asked if I could swap cars in Phoenix, which would have fit my itinerary better, was told there would be an upcharge for such. Else wanted to upcharge me for a more desirable model, I declined. Stood my ground, eventually, an economy type car was returned and assigned to me. It was noisy, lacked cruise control, a/c was very weak, as in "no fun to drive". To make up for the inconvenience, I was told I would be given a discount from my original intermediate type car reservation, however, that did not happen, they just hit my credit card with the full charge for the larger vehicle I never go to drive. When returning the car, their station was closed, with zero indication as to when they would open in the a.m. like was posted on their competitor's return stations. When I tried to return the car to their Phoenix location, I was told it was impossible to drop the car off there even though their San Diego agent had told me I could do so if willing to pay a penalty for doing so - basically one of their agents lied, no idea which one. All in all a lousy experience, since I now have to file a complaint to get them to correct the charge to my credit card account.

Car was not cleaned out when I received it. There was trash under the seats, some wrappers in the trunk and side doors. It was evening when I picked up so I didn't notice until the next morning. The car smelled faintly of stale food, so they clearly did a poor job cleaning overall. The customer service was rude and impatient. At least the pick-up and drop off had reasonable efficiency.

False advertising and hidden fees!The company advertises unlimited mileage, however the rentals have major mileage restrictions. Rentals can only be driven locally and the rate is $.99/mile after 200 miles.

Over-priced and dishonestPacific charged me twice as much as they estimated on Kayak. If that had been the extent of it, I may have left it alone. The day after I returned my car, however, the manager called to tell me that there is a "new scratch" on the front bumper. The car they rented to me was already scratched up, so I assumed he had gotten something confused and I could simply send the pictures I had snapped of the car before driving away from the lot. He sent me pictures of a car I'm not convinced is the car I rented, with a big scratch in the bumper, and asked that I have my lawyer call him. I have never felt so mistreated by a company. I'm certain that I had nothing to do with a scratch in the car I rented, and after consulting Yelp I noticed that Pacific has pulled this same stunt with at least one other customer. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

the worstnothingWhen we got to the place we were being helped by a woman and she was going through all the information and everything was fine. then about 2 min in another man comes out and says "this is only for local, this is only for local." we were like ok and kept going. then the man starts to talk over the lady that is helping us and eventually kicks the lady off of the computer and takes over. The man ask if all I have is a debit card and I tell him yes. He then says there is a $600 deposit. Let me say that again a 2-day rental at $38 and he wanted a $600 deposit. Now my mom who was with me used to work at Hertz car rental down the street and knows the industry. I am in school studying to be a lawyer. I asked the man to show me ANYWHERE ON MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL OR ANY LINK WHERE THERE IS A $600 DEPOSIT. He could not show me anything anywhere. I hold his company Pacific and your company as well responsible for doing business with a company of this sorts. I hope that my treatment was not because of my skin color, but I still do not know why this man had to insert himself into my transaction in the first place, and he could not show me anything in writing in regards to a $600 deposit.

My rental car was dead at noon June 15, 2021 on our way from San Diego to Yosemite National Park. We contacted National roadside assistance and they couldn't do anything to help. We had to be in the middle of nowhere under the heat of 100F. After 7 hours stranded, the tow truck came at 7:30 pm to tow the car and left our luggage on the street. The taxi came at 7:45pm to take us to the rental car office, but the office was closed at 5:00pm. Taxi only offered to take us to the nearby hotel and it had to be under our own expense. I couldn't stay at the nearby hotel because I already sent my under age children to the campsite close to the Yosemite National Park with a group of friends when the car broke down. I had to pay my friend to come back from campsite to car broke down location to pick us up and took us to the campsite while the Taxi denied to take us because it was too far. We had to spend $200 to cover that pick up. The road side assistance had confirmed that their agent at the airport close to the Yosemite NP had a reserve replacement car for us, but when we came to pick up the car. They had no car available; We had to call RSA and stayed on the phone with them hours and hours, I was stranded at the airport from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm on June 16, 2021 talked to a whole bunch of different people to end up with the smaller SUV that didn’t have enough room for everybody in my family and the luggage. Half of my family had to split with other cars within our group of friends. The rental car has ruined my family vacation. We had lost 2 vacation days. Instead of enjoying nature, we have been stranded on the road or the rental car office. We had lost our park’s fee and the campsite’s fee for nothing; the stress of dealing with the Roadside assistant customer service that won’t be able to help much drove us crazy. On the top of those issues, I have been charged almost $54 for the gas on the Buick Enclave and they didn’t give me the credit for the gas left on the Infiniti QX80 when the car was dead and it still had more than ½ tank of gas. With all of those issues National only give me credit of $199. I was so frustrated with National. I will never rent from National or deal with Kayak again. The worst customer service that I have ever deal with.

The first car we were given had some type of mechanical problems. I wouldn't go more that 20 mph up a hill. This car was replaced with another car of the same type but older, with less features. We made due.

Quick pick up / drop off--aggressive on selling upgrade/insurancefast pick up/drop off. 24 hour shuttle service to and from airport because all rental company is housed at same location (San Diego Airport)Service agent at pickup counter was too aggressive in pushing additional insurance. Know what your personal policy covers and be firm that you do NOT want any extras (if that is the case)

Pretty goodRelatively quick pickup and processing, car was in good condition and performed well. Associate at the desk was professional and friendly. Car was newer model Hyundai.First, got charged an extra fee for extending the rental that was not mentioned even though I had explicitly asked in advance. Required proof of insurance at check-in, which I've never had requested before.

Inexpensive.The "rental car insurance" ads lead me to buy insurance while I was online reserving a car. What I didin't know -- Even with the reading of the clauses which are difficult to understand -- was that my own car insurance company would be the one I'd contact first before this one kicked in. (According to the clerk at Green Motion.) So I ended up buying the one offered by Green Motion, and wasted money on Allianz.

I like the ease of working with the airport car rental center staff. They were able to adjust my pick up location from downtown to right there at the rental center and it cost me a little less than anticipated. The third party insurance presented some questions at the counter, but nothing that could not be resolve in seconds. I would use Kayak in future travel plans.I didn't like the fact the add stated it was at the airport and there was an airport shuttle. The San Diego airport (Lindbergh Field) has a rental car center for all rental car companies. The add was for the downtown location and the shuttle only transports to the airport rental center. Also, the airport rental center is MCAR which is also MIDWAY

Good and fastWas the least pressure I've ever had from a car rental company to upgrade the insurance. Also because they are smaller there was no line to wait. I just looked over at the long line at Payless and glad I wasn't there.

Just okayEven though the car was cleaned when I arrived, and I had to wait for this cleaning, it was quite dirty once all the water dried. The windshield in particular had a thick film on the inside. It also smelled like smoke even though they supposedly don't let renters smoke in their vehicles. Once I cleaned it up myself and aired it out it was a okay car for a couple days. Probably wouldn't rent from them again as the price was the same as other rentals but I have never had a car that needed me to clean it from other agencies.

Deposit??Free upgradedDidn't get back my full deposit of $200 (which I wasn't aware of at the initial booking through Kayak). Not sure why. Only received $170 back. Not given a specific time to drop off (the person behind counter said,"so around this same time?" To which I said yes), yet when I dropped it off in the early afternoon (around the same time), I was charged for an extra day ($14.50). But even with that and now the more taxes I paid on the "extra day" it doesn't add up to $30. So where is the rest of my money? Will go with the larger company next time to save the hidden fees..

Amazing, friendly serviceThey gave us a complimentary upgrade, were full of helpful information. When we returned the car and were tight on time they actually drove us to our terminal in a car (since the shuttle was not due for another five minutes).

Rediculous WaitThe car was clean and in good working order. The attendant was polite and very patience. But really?, one attendant 3 days before Christmas?I had a reservation for a full size car, as my family was all meeting in California for the holidays. The reservation was set to pick up the car at 6:00 PM. I arrived at 5:55. When I arrived there were two people in front of me. Neither of which spoke english. The attendant tried and tried to explain the rental agreements while I waited. I waited for one hour for him to process two customers. When it was finally my turn, he informed me there were no full size cars available and that the car had to be cleaned. At that point, I was pretty upset. I had to wait another 20 minutes for the car to be cleaned. In all, the transaction took over 90 minutes and I did not get the car size I reserved. And for what?, to save a few dollars over one of the majors? I am very disappointed Kayak would recommend such a terrible 3rd tier car rental agency. Lorrin

Booked few days before and they told me that my reservation automatically got cancelled due to glitch in system and there were no communication done to me. There were literally 4-5 people waiting before me from couple of hours to get a car. They suggested dont even bother waiting. Luckily, my reservation was already cancelled. I understand this could be due to employee shortage going on, but for travelers, this situation becomes pretty frustrating if they are on tight schedule. Nearby this place, other car rentals had similar scenario where people were just waiting in lines to get a car.

All in all, the experience was fine. People were friendly and the car was nice. The only problem I had was they kept me on hold for the airport shuttle pickup for over 45 min. The other rental car company actually ended up picking me up and dropping me off at NU because he saw me waiting for such a long time on hold with NU. If they could get that sorted out, the whole experience would've been better, but not bad overall

Do not rent with NU car. It took me (and those in front of me in line) over 40 minutes to pick up our cars due to how the company processed things. My pick up time was noon. I did not receive my car until 1. Even with my noon pick up taking an hour, the car I had reserved was still not “ready” at 1. The staff told me I needed to wait for my car to be ready, or, I could pay to upgrade to a different car that was already ready. I should NOT have had to pay for an upgrade. It was the companies fault for not having the correct vehicle ready at the correct time. The upgrade should have been complimentary. I also paid for unlimited mileage and insurance. However I was told in person that I wouldn’t recover unlimited mileage because I was a resident of the state I was renting in. This was not listed anywhere during the purchase process. I was also not refunded. I was also required to use my own insurance even though I paid for the provided insurance. I was also not reimbursed. This company is a scam. I do not recommend them and will be reporting them to the BBB. Also, they only have a 2 star rating if you search on Google. Should be one star.

The place was terribly disorganized. I was third on the line for the pickup. It took a full hour to get the car. They washed a car no one was waiting for before they washed mine. Others in front of me were very upset. The car was fine, except the dashboard said "Maintenance Required" as soon as I picked it up, so it probably needed an oil change. The cost for the rental was excellent, but you need to run a smooth and professional operation to keep customers. This was neither smooth nor professional.

They lure you in with low prices and then say whatever you chose is not available and charge you 50% more. They are short-staffed (on purpose?) and there was a long line of people waiting, both when I picked up and dropped off. And they make you wait outside with nowhere to sit. Just spend the extra money to get a car at the actual rental companies on site at the airport. The staff were friendly and seemed happy - maybe they enjoy running the scam.

Time between shuttles from the airport was very long. Add an hour, or more, to your plans to get to the rental agency and drive out.

Staff were talking about internal issues (employee not returning and renting a car correctly) for about 3 minutes before acknowledging and helping me. Then had to wait while they figured out which car was available and was told they couldn’t rent it because they car had technically not been returned in the system. They eventually spoke with employee that did not return car and returned it in system with an override. The company then started cleaning the car and I had to wait about 5 minutes for it to be “wiped down.” The license plates were expired and there were spill stains on 3 out of 4 mats. There was also sand in back seat and passenger seats and floors; it was not vacuumed. The tires were very worn.Returning the car was quick and simple. The car had no problems mechanically and smelled clean.
