Make your booking but ask when they will be there for dropoff at Loreto airport, they won't charge you if it's later but no fun hanging around if no one can receive the car. Or check flight arrivals because that's when they show up. Insurance is NOT required as the basic insurance required by the Mexican government (rdw) is included in your rental. I opted for total coverage in case of damage to the windscreen/tires from the rough roads.

Easy process, good car. 2 items - there was some upfront expenses (deposit) that was not clearly covered in the websight when I booked. The second issue was the car was in need of oil service and had warning lights on when I picked it up. This was not big deal, I checked oil level and the car was actually fine.

Insurance costs should be presented honestly, up-front at time of on-line rental booking. Kayak confirmed price of $10/day for the rental car and mentioned no additional fees for taxes or insurance. Once we arrived to the rental car counter we were told the insurance costs were an added $50/day (Five times the cost of the rental agreement price). Bait and switch! Kayak must do their homework on this false advertising.

When we arrived at the airport counter in Loreto the agent informed me that the quoted price did not include “mandatory “ insurance, so in effect the cost of the car rental doubled. The price I was quoted on my reservation, which I made online, led me to believe I was getting a competitive rate. It was only after I got to the rental counter that I learned of the price change—in effect doubling the cost of the car from what I was quoted on the reservation. I believe this is an intentional practice, and Enterprise knows what they are doing—customers (like me) will agree to pay the higher price because they have no choice. This practice something that I would not expect from an international car rental company. I will actively not rent from this company on the future. And I hope that Enterprise/Kayak don’t try to tell me that it was in the fine print. You lied about the price.

I'm not sure this place or this company exists. I called several numbers in an effort to confirm our reservation: all the numbers provided by Kayak, all the numbers on the Firefly website, and the resort where this location allegedly was located. They were either wrong numbers, didn't go through, or no one had heard of the place. I ended up canceling 2 days before pick up.
