Pros: Car was available and was adequate for my needs
Cons: Somewhere - either at kayak or at dollar - reservation was entered incorrectly as noon rather than midnight.
Dollar dropped the reservation at 4 hours past the pickup time.
Fortunately they still had a car available, but I ended up paying a higher rate than what was originally reserved.

No cars to be found.
Pros: Reserved a car online on a third-party travel website at a great price.
Cons: Arrived at McGhee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville and found an unmanned rental counter with a line 7-people deep. One of the customers in line said a rental agent had left with a customer and said he'd be back in 15-20 minutes. Another customer called Dollar and was told there were no cars available.
At that point, I also called Dollar and was told that no cars would be available for three days and that I could get on a waiting list. It being nearly 10pm, I asked them to cancel my reservation. Because all of the other rental companies were also out of cars, I ended up paying $40 for a cab and then having to deal with acquiring a car offsite for a good part of the following day. And paying $50 extra to return that car to the airport at the end of the week. That wasn't Dollar, but it would have been avoided if Dollar had come through. Apparently, having a reservation means nothing anymore.

Cons: Only trucks were available (at additional cost) and an additional $7 fee would be added based on the region in which the vehicle would be used.

Pros: Dollar tried to put me in a small SUV when I reserved a minivan.
Cons: Manager told that's how everyone does it. Not a good attitude

Pros: Was surprised to learn that they considered a Dodge Ram truck a "full", which wasn't really acceptable, esp. given that I had two cars seats. I was forced to upgrade as they apparently didn't have a sedan on site.

Pros: We upgraded to a new 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup which was nice
Cons: The quoted price of $12/day upgrade was inaccurate. The price of the rental nearly doubled. The vehicle, although new (less than 30 miles) was filthy inside. The windows were terribly dirty on the inside and there were multiple areas on the doors and remainder of the cabin that were filthy. When presented at the counter for return the attendant didn't do anything besides say she would have the booking attendant call us. They never returned the call.
Pros: felt ignored at counter when I picked up car. I can understand being short staffed but acknowledge me and tell me you are sorry I have to wait. not making eye contact does not help my patience. Expeience was better at drop off.

Misleading! No enterprise counter at TYS!
Pros: I selected this rental because the price was extremely attractive, it only $11 per day.
Cons: My husband arrived at TYS only to be told that there was no enterprise counter at the airport. He then had to take a cab to the enterprise location which was some 20 minutes from the airport, resulting in a $30 fee. He also was charged a $50 drop off fee by enterprise for returning the car to the airport. The extra fees ended up totaling more than the car rental itself!

Cons: I had booked a car to take on Vacation. I paid for insurance threw kayaks site. Enterprise told me it was threw a 3rd party and it wouldn't actually cover the car. Still haven't seen my money back on that. After booking online I called to verbalize with enterprise that everything was ok. The man told me I had to have a Kub bill in my name. I explained to him it was in my girlfriends name. He told me she could get the car in her name and for $10 extra a day I could be put on as a second driver. That would have worked out perfectly if when I got there to pick up the car, the man behind the counter told me I had to have a Kub bill in my name as well....Which was not discussed on the phone nor does it make since. I do not own a major credit card due to trying to be responsible by not spending money I dont have. I missed out on my vacation due to Enterprise employees not providing the information needed before the day I needed to leave.

Pros: Staff went out of way to help me. VERY good employees at the airport Enterprise
Cons: Kayak booked my car at a different location that did NOT work for me.
Cons: It was hard for me to tell on the Kayak website which of the Hertz were actually at the airport. I tried looking it up online but still ended up booking at a Hertz a good distance from the airport. Would be awesome to have some kind of denotation showing if its actually at the airport, needs a shuttle or is totally off site.

Most horrific rental experience ever!!
Pros: The roadside assistant was nice and helpful.
Cons: 1. Our vehicle had a plugged sidewall in the front passenger tire that began to work its way out creating a very dangerous situation for my family.
2 While returning the trade in we picked up in Daytona we waited for 45 min which gave us ample opportunity to speak with numerous other families returning cars. 2 had vehicles with expired oil changes 2 had vehicles who's tags expired in 3 day.
3. The office was a complete mess. There were kids and a dog running around the detail bay. A woman kept yelling at Harley...not sure if that was the dog or one of the kids. The attendant was in sweat pants and a tshirt with a very long beard and tatted arms....very unprofessional establishment!!
4. The attendants way of apologizing "Firestone down the road checks all of our vehicles so it's their fault" I call bs on this one because I manage a fleet of 30 company vehicle all serviced by that Firestone and know the manager and most of the mechanics at this location. I know first hand they would NEVER plug a side wall of a tire because they won't take the liability. They are quick to sell a new tire...it's their job!! In fact they often want to replace all 4 tires at a time when I take my fleet in for repairs.
5 That was in no way an apology for putting the safety of my family at risk. We drove over 10hours one way on that tire and had it blown on the interstate it could have easily killed all of us!!!
So to answer this question I will not only never recommend Hertz I will adamantly encourage all of my friends, family, and co workers to never use Hertz!

India Call Center with no power to help
Cons: Set a noon pickup and booked it. Showed up 15 min afternoon to find out office was closed. Called reservations and several people from the call center in India told me to go to the airport and it would bw 3 times the price for the same car. I hung up and booked another company for a cheaper price. Never again...

Bad customer service
Pros: Bad customer first pre-paid online said it would be a 25% if I paid it online didn't get that one to the counter when I got there and asked the lady at the front desk she didn't know the one in care about my situation took the car without looking around it when I got back on the bumper seem to of gotten attached from the car no dents or anything we figured it was him manufacture default me and the lady outside lady outside was very nice my first impression of customer service at the front desk was horrible

Pros: They just gave me the same Nissan Versa I brought to them as a one way rental. It was comfortable for me.
Cons: As long as there in no wind Versa drives fine, but wind easily blows it off.

Pick up not near airport
Pros: Clean, helpful representatives
Cons: I arrived at Knoxsville airport and the pickup location was 20 mins away, which wasn't clear at time of booking. Luckily there was a car available at the airport, but I had to spend more money to rent it! Argh. There should have been a warning that the rental pickup was so far away.

Cons: Wasn't notified that the location was closing early because it was New Years Eve. I arrived just as they were closing. Another 5 minutes and I would not have gotten a car!

Pros: Good gas mileage and good pep for a 4 cylinder engine.
Pros: We put 3000 miles touring the Southern Unites States. I think we filled up with 20.00 dollars each time it cost us very little.
Cons: When we picked the car up the person did not explain how to drive the car s features. Where's the gas the trunk lock the lights etc. but the worst was the tolls we didn't know what to do on toll roads that bill the plate. We were franticly calling phone numbers for Avis.

Cons: I reserved a mini van almost two months in advance. I show up at my scheduled pickup time after driving over an hour to get there. The person working the desk tells me they didn't have any mini vans available and they "upgraded" me to a large passenger van. I told him that wasn't acceptable. He told me that's all he had. I told him a phone call would have been nice. He just looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. So glad I called early. It was a great way to start our vacation........never again.
