Pros: Nice room, clean, comfortable bed, great shower. Quaint building, romantic for couples, really nice dining and bar room.
Cons: Everything was fine except for... 1. How long it took to get me checked into my room because the girl at the front desk baby-talked each of the two individual guests in front of me, one at a time, rather than take the expedient course by showing everyone all at once the little details all guests needed to know. We were all standing right there, so it seemed to me that wasting other people's time like that was unnecessary and could have been handled better. 2. They stuck me up on the 3rd floor for no apparent reason, and I say that because it's off-season in Cape May right now so there were very few guests and I'm quite certain plenty of available rooms on the first and second floors. There's also no elevator. This was a work trip, I had just worked a 12+ hour day, and other than my suitcase which the concierge was nice enough to drag up there for me, I still had two laptops and other things and therefore had to make two trips up three flights of stairs. I really didn't like that, at all. In my opinion, any hotel with multiple floors should have an elevator. Making guests walk up several flights of steps just to get to their rooms is unacceptable. 3. The breakfast options on the card they give you, are limited. Also the times at which they will deliver it. If I recall correctly, the earliest they will deliver breakfast to your room, or you can even get it, is 7:30am. If you're on a work trip like I was, and you don't have time to be waiting around until that late in the morning, then if you stay at this hotel you'll likely wind up checking out and going out for breakfast on your way to the office instead.

Pros: Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. Our trip was very brief, and we returned to the hotel around 11pm, following the event we had travelled to attend. My daughter had been fighting a cold and wanted some hot tea to soothe her throat. There are no microwaves or coffee makers in the room, and the Blue Pig was closed. However, a woman was doing the bookkeeping and we asked if was possible to get tea. She went to the back and made a cup for my daughter. I offered to pay or bill it to the room, and she said not to worry about it. Also, the valet service is so convenient and sanity saving, even in the off season.
Cons: The fitness center is probably one of the least used amenities in any hotel, so the offerings aren't very robust. This holds true here as well. Two treadmills, an elliptical, a bike, and a bench with a rack of hand weights. My advice, pack a resistance band to beef up your options. It takes less space in your luggage than sock.

Pros: Over many occasions, I witnessed the staff going above and beyond expectations of guests. From making sure all the rocking chairs lined up to providing excellent cocktail service, it is clear that the whole staff is trained and believes in great customer service.
Cons: The hotel and grounds were top shelf. Nothing could have been better at Congress Hall. Cape May in January is understandable quiet; which is quite nice. However, many if not most the restaurants and businesses are closed.

Pros: This hotel was perfectly situated. Diamond beach is right outside your door, while also just a short drive away from the busy Boardwalk. It is a family friendly place. It is also beautiful, up to date and chic. We will definitely be back!

Pros: Situated right in front of a wide private beach, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. Friendly staff, great off-season rates, beautiful views, and very nice facilities. Our room was spacious, with a separate bedroom and sitting room, and the dinette was a lifesaver, complete with basic cooking tools and a hotplate. We will be coming back here!

Pros: The Star is a cozy inn close to the beach, town, and next to Congress Hall which has a restaurant, bar, and shops. It's nice and quiet and a great value. If you're looking for a full service hotel experience, this is not it. If you want a clean, comfortable room in an old time guest house with charm, this is it!

Pros: The location of this motel was perfect. It was within a few blocks of shops and restaurants, and across the street from a beach entrance (bathrooms/concession). The maid service did a fantastic job, you could tell she spent a while (even creasing towels/tissues) just to make everything pretty for us each day. The office staff was personable and friendly, and even the maintenance guys stopped to help my son when he spilled ice down the stairs. The kitchenette in the living area was clean and well kept, and didn't freak me out about preparing food on it. The carpet in the room was also well maintained. Didn't have that sandy/moist feeling that we have seen on a lot of oceanfront motels.
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable.

Pros: The location close to the beach was the only truly good thing about this hotel....also, we received a nice discounted rate because the hotel was under construction.
Cons: I’m not one to complain, but this hotel was pretty much a letdown from the beginning. First, they gave us a room that faced the wall… The room was pitch black during the daytime… Because it literally faced the wall. When I asked to switch to a room with some sunlight, they told me it would be $10 more a night. Annoyed, I agreed to the up-charge and switched rooms only to find fecal matter smeared on the floor of the bathroom in the new room. Gross! The energy saving lightbulbs made the room seem uncomfortable and cold because of the fluorescent lighting. Also, the water pressure was nonexistent and it took 40 minutes just to wash the shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. We will never stay here again… I’ll make a reservation at a bed and breakfast instead.

Pros: Location is fantastic, used to be a very nice place to stay but accommodations degraded since Covid and impossible to get dinner there.
Cons: Priority for dinner given to guests, silver and dish ware put back in rooms and institute different amenities to make up for the ones currently lacking. Also staff should be friendlier and at least try to be helpful if they want people to keep coming there. Most acted like they couldn’t be bothered

Pros: Location was right across the street from the beach.
Cons: The mattress where fair and need updating. The clothes line did not have clothes pins so things wet clothes fell in the ground. The outside shower was turned off so no water than the cold hose to wash off feet after being at the beach. The place felt like they were closing for the season.

Pros: The guy at the front desk was absolutely great. I forget his name (sorry), but he was working the weekend of June 14/15. He was friendly and helpful, and made me immediately happy with my choice. Also, at first I wasn't sure if I would be happy on the first floor, but there was minimal sound from other guests, and the first floor meant not having to drag my luggage up the stairs. Room included a kitchenette that was an added bonus.
Cons: The room was a tad musty smelling (probably somewhat inevitable next to the ocean), though clean looking all around. The faucet in the tub needed to be super tightened to make sure it shut off. The landings/stairs that lead up to the other floors and the roof deck had some questionably soft spots. It appeared to all have been recently painted over, but every few steps one could feel the soft wood underneath.

Cons: We stayed at the hotel Macomber on the hottest weekend of the year, and the AC in our room did not properly work. When I went to the front desk to ask to have somebody fix it, the attitude I got from the front desk rep (the morning front desk representative) seemed as if, our particular room as had that problem before, and she knew of the problem but was not going to do anything to have it fixed. The AC was leaking and dripping the entire night on the floor, right next to the TV and other outlets (NOT SAFE AT ALL!). When we called later in the day to see if the problem was fixed, and the front office rep said nobody would be able to come to fix the issue. This place is not worth the amount of money that they charge...find a different hotel!

Cons: Though an interesting building, picture Bates Motel in terms of rooms. Stark, threadbare sheets, mattress about 2 inches thick. When my husband and I sat on the bed - we just had to laugh. The rooms also had a strange rose smell (like your grandmother's house maybe). For almost $200/night - that was it. No breakfast, no coffee, no amenities (i.e. pool), room air conditioner - basic. Way too much $ for the room.

Pros: We have visited Cape May over a dozen times over the last 25 years (we were married there in 1992), and in that time we have stayed in several oceanfront hotels there. The rooms at the Grand were clean and comfortable, the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant served good quality food at fairly reasonable prices. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were kept up well, and towels weren't hard to find.
Cons: At the Grand Hotel's price point, we expected a few more amenities, such as beach service (other similarly priced hotels provide chairs and umbrellas at the beach for their guests, and some even deliver food and drinks from the restaurant to the beach). I also have never stayed at a hotel with a price point over $250 with laundry facilities that were coin operated. I was also surprised that I couldn't charge my meals at the restaurant to my room, which was mildly inconvenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand, but we feel that it could have been a better value for the money.
