Good location at a friendly family run location. Our second stay.
Family Inn Saiko Tokyo is a rare find for travelers who are interested to experience what living like a local Japanese feel like. The Inn itself is located is a suburban town one station away from the nearest big city, Ikeburo. The Inn is within walking distance from two train/subway stations, delicious neighborhood restaurants, convenience stores, and a grocery store. The town itself is very safe -- one sees many local residents walking and biking to restaurants and local stores. Guests of the Inn can freely use the downstairs washing machine, dishes, kitchen, and umbrellas. The owner/concierge speak fluent English and are extremely helpful.
The staff were magnificent! They were really friendly and helpful. The location - once I figured out where the closest station was - was actually really handy. I love the quiet neighbourhood Family Inn Saiko is in, as it made me feel like I was living in a community and not just a visitor in a different country. I like wandering the streets of a neighbourhood and seeing the varied ways people live. All the different sized and shaped houses and the fantastic use of limited space. The room was more than big enough for one person to stay comfortably for any length of time and the amenities were luxurious.
I used to live in Japan and one of the things I loved most was sleeping on a futon. The futon in my room in Family Inn Saiko however was not very good and so I woke up everyday with a sore back. I would also have appreciated a seat in the room with a cushion and upright back rest because there was nowhere - apart from the toilet - where i could sit comfortably. I know tatami rooms can’t support western-style tables and chairs, however I would have greatly appreciated a Japanese style chair without legs with a backrest.
They are soooo nice and helpful. Their English is also great and they make you want to discover their neighborhood more! 150% would recommend!
Staff was welcoming and gave helpful travel information. Very friendly atmosphere.
You need to sign up for the "public bath". A little far from train station.
