Top tips for finding the perfect Mauritius hotel

  • The main tourist season in Mauritius is in December and January, as it is known as a winter sun destination for British tourists. If you plan on travelling to Mauritius at this time of year, then we recommend that you consider booking hotels and transport in advance, as you will be more likely to get better prices and have more choices available.
  • The hot season in Mauritius is from November to March, with temperatures commonly being shorts and t-shirt weather. If you would like to visit the country during cooler temperatures, then we recommend travelling between June and September. You could also consider staying at a hotel that has air-conditioning, such as La Mariposa or Le Gite de Bonheur.
  • Plenty of the hotels in Mauritius offer spa facilities, so if you are interested in getting pampered and relaxing during your stay, then you may want to consider staying at hotels such as Sugar Beach Golf & Spa Resort or Ambre Resort & Spa.
  • If you would prefer not to swim in the sea but you would still like to take a dip to refresh yourself during your stay, then you may want to stay at a hotel that has a swimming pool, such as Villa Anakao or Auberge Paille en Queue.
  • A very popular place to visit in Mauritius is the capital city, Port Louis, on the west coast of the island. Here, you can go and swim with dolphins. The capital city is better protected than other parts of the island from cyclones due to the nearby Moka Mountain Range.
  • If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Mauritius, you should consider visiting during the low season. You'll find cheaper accommodations in Mauritius in January and July.
  • Hotel room prices vary depending on many factors but you’ll most likely find the best hotel deals in Mauritius if you stay on a Thursday. The opposite is true for, Tuesday, which is usually the most expensive day.
  • The cheapest 3-star hotel room in Mauritius found on KAYAK in the last 2 weeks was €41, while the most expensive was €232.
  • How long should you stay? KAYAK users usually book their accommodation in Mauritius for 5 days.
