Pros: I have yet to have a negative experience with Enterprise. The staff is always of the highest quality in customer service: friendly, knowledgable, and willing to go the extra mile to make your rental experience a good one. Halifax Enterprise is no exception. Don't bother with the "other guys". Go with Enterprise. They will pick you up and drop you off at home!

Pros: nothing at all
Cons: The Etnerprice and Kayak have to explain clearly that people under 25 can not rent a truck from Enterprice before making the reservation .. i had to look in a different company that provide a truck for customers under 25 years old. Also, they waist my time which I lost some money due to the confusing from Kayak and Enterprice (time is money). I am not going to deal with Kayak and Enterprice anymore.. It was the first and last time. good job both of you ^_^

I love Enterprise
Pros: I liked everything about this rental. The staff at both the Kempt Road location in Halifax, and the Airport location were kind and accommodating. Between calling in advance to ask for certain favours, to needing help on the road, the staff were always happy to help. I wish that I could remember all of the names of the countless staff that helped me over the phone and in person, but the only two names I can recall are Chance and Lily. So thank so you much Chance, Lily..et all.

Pros: Staff at counter very friendly and informative. I was a bit weary about finding where to return car but that was the easy part. Signs marked and easy to find, staff right there to take over. Made things enjoyable. Thanks to all.

Pros: They gave us a ride to the airport and didn't charge us the extra fifty dollars for being two hours late (please be on time). They were simply excellent on their customer service. I always felt well taken care of, but I imagine it varies Enterprise to Enterprise as each location is different.
Cons: The contract was a little long yet still unclear about what constitutes damage even though in person they assure you the car is undamaged because the dents are below a certain arbitrary size and the scratches are less than an arbitrary length (none of this is documented in paper though). On the plus side, I never had any problems with them claiming that I had damaged the car.

Cons: Were not informed about complimentary pick up/drop off and drop off was going to take a long time so we had to skip it.

Pros: I showed up at the airport to return the car and found out I had been charged an extra hour which was almost the same price as the day. When I brought it up to the employee inside he finished my sentence for me saying he'd take off the extra charges. I was pleasantly surprised!
Cons: My convertible was delivered with the top down and I was not instructed how to put it up. Three minutes later I had figured it out. Really was a non issue.

Pros: I would definitely rent again. The only reason I gave it a "Good" rating rather than an "Excellent" is explained in the comments of "what could have been better".
I had paid online in advance. The process of picking up the car was smooth and quick.
When I asked if there was a complementary map, I was provided with a simple map of Halifax - exactly what I needed.
When I returned the car and followed the signs into the parking garage, an attendant was immediately available outside to direct me into a parking space and examine the car for any damage.
Cons: Because it was foggy, and raining outside, and rather dark in the parking garage, I didn't see that there was some food debris in the centre area around the gear shift when I received the car.
It was the next day that I became aware of this, outside in bright daylight. The rest of the car was very clean, including the floor mats. I do not feel that this area was intentionally overlooked but rather missed for the same reasons I didn't see it until later. The people inspecting and preparing the car for the next rental would benefit from some good lighting to notice details.
And, renters should be more considerate in the care of their rented vehicle to prevent this kind of soiling - totally unnecessary.

Deceptive, Fraudulent Business Practices
Cons: Three significant problems with our car rental experience:
1) After paying in full online with Kayak, we were billed again at pickup at the Hertz counter in the amount of $64. The counter clerk explained that every day she receives complaints about the extra billing and that there is nothing she can do about. We paid the $64 since we needed a a car right then; in effect, a hostage payment.
2) Our Hertz counter clerk urged we self-inspect the car for any significant problems. We did so and found only an aged, minor paint chip and some minor scratches on the bumper. We accepted the car as is with these minor damages. After returning the car in clean condition and with a full tank of gas, we received by email a damage investigation notice that there was the chipped paint and bumper scrapes. There should, of course, be no investigation of these issues since they existed prior to our rental.
3) After receiving the damage inspection email, I called Hertz's damage inspection manager Kelly Ann Boutilier. On the phone, Kelly Ann promised to look into the matter immediately get back to me the same day for resolution, since she was leaving for a 3 day trip. Kelly Ann did not follow through and get back to me as promised.
Conclusion: Our rental experience was highly negative. Truly, this has been a flim-flam, con. At the moment, we are being billed $131.74 for the original charge, plus a second billing of $205.07. The original contract price was just $42.51/day x 3 days = $127.53. We are placing both charges with our credit card in dispute.
Pros: Car was clean, ready and return hours were flexible. Great location and staff was helpful
Cons: I wish I had realized that this pickup *wasnt* at the airport - cost us $70 to get to downtown Halifax to pick up the car, but the rental was also $400 cheaper to get from downtown as opposed to the airport. the markup is a blatant example of price gauging. Thanks, capitalism.

Close to Cruise Terminal
Pros: Located in the Westin Hotel, this Thrifty rental site was close to the cruise ship terminal. The car was clean, the staff very friendly, and had no problems with the rental process.

Nice customer service, but beware of hidden fees
Pros: Polite, efficient service, flexibility on return time and car ran perfectly.
Cons: There were a bunch of hidden fees charged by Thrify, not included in the Kayak policy.

Cons: Picking up the car in Halifax took way to long, over 45 minutes which caused us to be an hour late for a wedding. A new (I assume) employee was very slow.....had to ask someone else to step in and move us along faster, in being late, my partner slipped on steps and twisted his ankle, stressful, but all in all, the rest was fine. I had called the rental the day before picking it up to see if I could drop by and fill out the paper work to speed it up, this option was not available to me.
Pros: They were conveniently located in the city center. The agent was by himself when we arrived soon after they opened, but he was very helpful. Perhaps we were scheduled to drop off at the airport location, we were super-upgraded for free.
Cons: Nothing really. If we must, the upgrade was a bit too luxurious (we'd requested an economy car, as it was just two of us with not much luggage, but got a Cherokee. Hmm, extra gas...)

Good car rental in Canada but beware of excess insurance
Pros: Car was good fitted with satnav fitted and we received an upgrade
Cons: Rental company would not accept vehicle excess insurance which had been purchased, so we had to take full insurance with the rental company which was more expensive and then claim a refund on the external policy

Pros: We had a reservation for a compact car, and were offered an upgrade to a larger car at no charge. Had a Hyundai Sonata, very nice car with good fuel economy.
Cons: We arrived at Halifax airport late (9:30 PM), and called the number. No answer. Waited about 10 minutes, called again, go someone to pick us up. Staff should have headsets to be able to answer phone wherever they are, to avoid panic attacks by customers.
Cons: Gave me a reservation to pick up after the downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia location was closed. Had to hire a cab to take me back to airport, to obtain car, Besides the extra $120.00 canadian for the two cab fares, the whole first day of our vacation lost. Would appreciate your consideration, of reimbursing me the $120.00, as reservation from Kayak the flawed cause.
