Spent little time in Omaha. Stay in your lane and watch out for the speeders that like to change lanes.

JoannaMay 2023

There is almost no traffic, very easy to get around Omaha.

Omaha largely grew to be what it is today during the Automobile Era and, as a consequence of this, it is most suited for personal vehicles. Visitors will be best off renting a vehicle, as public transportation is not widely available, and it is almost always much quicker and more efficient to drive. To give an example of this, driving from downtown Omaha to the northside of town (7 miles) takes just 11 minutes by car but takes 40 minutes by bus.
If you are like most travelers, you will probably be picking up your hire car after landing at the airport. In the case of travelers landing at Omaha Eppley Airfield, there are 24/7 shuttle buses that will take you from the Arrivals Terminal to the adjacent hire car areas.
Winter in Omaha can bring piles of snow that, while beautiful and great for snowballs, aren’t the best for inexperienced drivers. However, it is easy enough to drive in; you just have to drive a bit slower than normal and with a bit more care. One thing to take note of is that it will take longer to break and come to a stop in snow compared to normal conditions.
Omaha’s rush hour starts in the morning around 7:00 a.m. and runs until 9:00 a.m. and in the afternoon it picks up again around 3:00 p.m. and finishes up after 7:00 p.m. Though this is a lengthy amount of time, congestion isn’t actually too severe, so trip times are only moderately impacted. The Kennedy Freeway is often one of the more impacted areas during rush hour so it is best to avoid it, if possible.

The car had a major starter problem. Got nowhere during hours on the phone. When I returned it I explained what had happened, i.e. took at least 8 minutes & up to 19 minutes each time I restarted it to get it to kick in. It was clearly not a battery issue. Luckily I only had to do this 5x because I rented for 24 hours to attend a funeral. when I brought it back they were completely disinterested & dismissive of my concerns. Didn't even write it down. They said it was because it was cold. Ummmmm....about 200 other cars in the parking lot after the funeral & mine the only one that wouldn't start ....Their lack of concerns seems obviously the reason I got a car that wouldn't start most of the time. Also, renting in Nebraska in January & the car did not include a scraper. Really??? You have to fly across the country with your own scraper or go buy a brand new one every time? (Which by the way would require turning the car off, so figure in another up to 19 minutes to restart it...)

All good except they charged for fuel service, claiming half-full, although I returned with a full tank. I sent them a copy of my gas purchase receipt and they were good about reversing the charge. But this should never happen.

Everything was great except the pick up experience. The woman who helped us at the Avis counter was friendly, but the stall number that she gave us for the car was occupied by a different car than the one she has assigned us. We went to the Avis booth in the parking lot, and the woman there assigned us a different stall with a similar car to the one we had been promised. However, when we started loading our luggage into the car, another customer came up and showed us that he had been assigned that car as well. So we had to go back to the Avis booth, and the woman there agreed to assign another car to the other customer. Then, when we started up the car, it said "maintenance needed", so we had to go back to the Avis booth, and the woman told us that that was just about an oil change and not to worry about it.

It was a fast easy check in and out process. The airport situation is horrible... If you are picking someone up that is dropping off a rental you have to pay to go into the parking garage, you can't just follow them in. And it's so confusing to people that do not go to the airport often. Besides that it was excellent!

There were only 2 reps checking people in. It took over 30 minutes in line to get to a gentleman that could help me. ( He was very nice). There were at least 5 people at the kiosk at the car pick up rental level standing around. The lady checking people out at the gate, could have cared less to help anyone. She was on her phone. When I pulled up she said find the email and scan the code. I was not getting cell reception so I had to ask her how else I could get the code she was bothered and said check your text messages. Then went right back to being on her phone. The car that I ended up with had multiple small inconvenient issues. Side driver mirror didn’t adjust. The key fob was missing the front half. The key fob battery was also almost dead. I had to hold the key against the start stop bottom to get the car to start. The gentleman that checked me back in never asked how the car was only that he needed to get the mileage and then I was good to go. There was no one else checking in at the same time I checked in. Overall I was glad to have the rental car, but the rental experience has a huge amount of improvement that needs to be done.

They TWICE accepted my reservation and then days later emailed me that they didn't have the vehicle and cancelled. The second email was received when I landed! They totally screwed me, frankly. And even then, they continued to represent vehicle availability online. I spoke to the staff at the airport rental counter, and they said they are constantly overbooking vehicles. Crazy they can get away with it. Travel booking (hotel, flight, rental car, etc.) need to be reliable, and that's just not apparently the case with enterprise. Really shocking business practice, really. I suggest customers avoid them at all costs.

Enterprise called day of the rental and said they did not have a car for me to rent. Very disappointed that the website would lead me to believe a car was available.

Not a thing. Everything was excellent and very professional. Thank you.

Not sure why a rental car company would let a person choose a pick up time for their rental car that is also the time at which they close, and then try to blame the customer when they weren't able to get there at said time due to a blizzard. Enterprise is a terrible awful horrible company with bad hours, poor customer service, no care for their customers, and no desire to fix issues that are the fault of their own poorly designed web site when they occur. Will never rent from them again. Ever.

The car was excellent in every way, very economical and comfortable. The staff at Enterprise Rental was very friendly and made things simple. I will definitely recommend Enterprise Rental to anyone looking to rent a vehicle.

I did not get a receipt for my payment. They said I would get it at drop off, but the place was closed the day of my drop off so I had to just leave the keys.

Car was great m, drop off great. There was no car available when I arrived, had to wait, and missed part of funeral service I went to attend. With reservation, that is unacceptable.

Car had a lot of miles and smelled like smoke and chemicals. Needed to use a lot of Lysol and aired it out for several hours to mitigate the smell. Cloth seats were clean but stained.

Phone c/s was horrible. Originally booked for 2 days, changed to 24 hours, that was just fine. (When I finally got to correct place). Called again to see if could pick up early, auto phone service was horrible, ended up in Atlanta 2 times, but called the Omaha rental at 116th & Dodge. Finally got a human changed to earlier pick up, by rep named Rosie. Went to pick up and didn’t have the change.☹️. Rep was able to get it set up; however he said there was no way to make seat move closer, I’m short. Got to destination and friend found where it would pull seat closer to steering wheel. Didn’t have envelopes to put key into and put in after-hour box. 99% dissatisfied.

would like to get the car make and model that I selected on my reservation. Garage pick up station closed immediately after we picked up the car keys. would have liked to be able to ask a Budget employee a question or two on car operation before we left the garage.
