Excellent 10.0
Pros: Gerthude’s is a wonderfully located bnb with spectacular views over Rio. We stayed in the middle of unprecedented weather with mostly rain and low lying cloud, yet it was still a treat to get to see the view from Santa Teresa and the large rooms were nice enough to relax indoors. Countless personal touches made it a memorable stay.
Cons: Nothing! Even offered umbrellas for the rain
Excellent 10.0
Pros: everything was great. the views, the accommodation, the hospitality, ease to the Main Street and the included breakfast.
Cons: nothing, everything was exceptional.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: comfortable
Cons: a bit impersonal
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay at Gerthrudes B&B. The views from the swimming pool area are amazing, you can’t get tired of it ! The house is decorated with lots of taste and the rooms are big and very clean. The breakfast was delicious and home made! The best of all is definitely the owner Adriana who is super friendly, helpful and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. She allowed us to keep one of the rooms until 2pm when the check out was at 11am before our flight which was so convenient for us and booked us a taxi for 50 real!! I could not recommend enough to stay at Adriana’s, you will not regret it!!!
Cons: nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: One of the best hotels you can possibly stay at in Rio. Amazing view from the swimming pool, excellent breakfast (best we had by far), spotless clean and located in one of the most interesting and cultural areas of Rio. Adriana and her team make you feel at home. Thank you and see you very soon!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We had an amazing stay at Gerthrude’s B&B. The place is simply beautiful and located perfectly in the charming neighborhood of Santa Teresa! We really felt at home throughout our stay, thanks for your warm-hearted and kind hospitality! We’ll be back for sure!:-) Stephanie&Teresa
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Adriana is an awesome and well educated host. She speaks Englisch, German and Brasil. She cares a lot about her guest. Never had such a good breakfast with self made cake, yogurt and marmalade. Santa Teresa is a great location with flair. It feels safe and a Uber Is always right on the way.
Excellent 10.0
Place itself has very good location just few steps from Escadaria Selaron and party hub Lapa, view minutes taxi drive to Corcovado. Santa Teresa is packed with amazing spots with good food and sounds of samba. Gerthrudes Bed and Breakfast is an experience beyond ordinary. Everything about this place is absolutely magical from the view to interior and last but definitely not least a host Adriana who makes you feel as a part of family and Gerthrudes guest house becomes your house. Adriana is a soul of the place extremely helpful and flexible in case of any changes. Me and my friends have fallen in love and we will be surely back.
Excellent 10.0
Great place to stay in Rio. Beautiful house near St Teresa bars and restaurants. The owner, Adriana is a wonderful friendly host, the house is perfect with a nice view of the city and the breakfast are amazing. She made us feel at ease instantly and explained which places to visit and which ones to avoid. Had a great chat too, she is very cool and sociable. This place is so unique and special. Breathtaking view, intimate, well-designed. Peacefull, comfortable place. Wonderful bedroom with open balcony. Have been to many places and stayed in many B&Bs, this place is one of the best. We absolutely loved Gertrudes. We couldn’t imagine a better way to start our Brazil trip. Would happily come back again.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Guesthouse Bianca is and amazing place to stay in Rio De Janeiro. Santa Teresa is truly the most atmospheric bario of the city. Our host Guido was super super kind with us and helped us in everything starting from the Covid test to a very late and uncomfortble arrival and some misunderstandings with a local taxi driver. The place is amazing, the atmosphere is fabulous. We would definetly recommend and whenever we come back, we will stay at Guido's Guesthouse Bianca.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A beautiful old house set in a tranquil well established garden. Guido and Chico were perfect hosts, very kind and informative. The breakfasts are 5 star standard. We loved our room.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hosts were so kind and accommodating. The house was beautiful and in a really great location in Rio. The breakfast was delicious. I was traveling to Rio with a friend and one day on the trip, we had to leave early for a tour. Our hosts offered to pack a small lunch to take with us. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and happy. We loved everything about the house and I plan to come back again with my husband.
Cons: Nothing bad to say for this one.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Just awesome place, highly recommended! The building is a real museum, everything is perfect! The owners are also very friendly and helpful! They served beautiful breakfast! Location is also nice, just five minutes from San Teresa. The taxi to SDU airport cost about 2.5 usd! Great place to stay!
Cons: You need to know that the toilet is not in the room, but in the hallway. If breakfast could be more varied from day to day, it would be great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We couldn´t have experienced Rio in a more authentic way! A beautifully renovated house built in the 1930s located in the bohemian neighbourhood of Santa Teresa allows you to feel the atmosphere of the historic streets of Rio. We highly valued the opportunity to relax in the garden to escape the rush of the city while still being in the heart of it. Moreover, the house was sparkly clean, the breakfast was absolutely delicious and the neighbourhood is very safe. We walked around in the evening to discover the streets around and we felt completely fine. Thank you guys for hosting us! We wish you best of luck in the future!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Our charming room, the delightful, delicious breakfast on the patio, the art everywhere, the tropical gardens, walking distance to an art museum, the lovely vibe of the neighborhood and most, the warmth of the proprietors.
Cons: Nothing to not like
Excellent 10.0
The house is old, but renovated in a very good way, so very comfortable. Gorgeous art interior and garden. Super comfortable and quiet. It is stylish and really beautiful, with wonderful interior and a garden with a huge view of Rio. The house is well situated in the historical area, within a walking distance from Rio center. And unforgettable, tasty breakfasts on the terrace with trees and flowers and a wonderful view - heaven. The owners are so kind and helpful, they went out of their way to make sure my stay was excellent. Nice neighborhood, to us it felt very safe. Excellent, beautiful property and owners, highly recommend

The breakfast is absolutely marvelous with fresh juice and breads, unforgettable, tasty breakfasts on the terrace with trees and flowers and wonderful view. Magnificent views on the Santa-Tereza. Excellent 10.0
Pros: Such an amazing place! Casa Geranio is located in Santa Teresa which is one of the best neighbourhood in Rio. You have a lot of restaurants and bars all around and you can do almost everything on foot. The hotel is really clean and our room was too. The garden is incredible, with a lots of birds and animals like small monkeys. Every morning a fresh breakfast is served on the terrace surrounded by the beautiful garden. Fresh fruit juice, fresh fruits, fresh bakery etc.. and every morning you’ll have different products. It’s easily one of the best breakfast we ever had. The owners, Claudio and Gabriel are such kind and helpful people! If you need anything during your stay, if you have any questions, they are here to help you anytime. If I come back to Rio I’ll definitely come back to Casa Geranio. I felt like home during all my stay.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Exceptional property in laidback Santa Teresa managed by the sympathetic owners Gabriel and Claudio. Beautifully restored neoclassical house set in a lush garden. Super delicious breakfast served on the terrace with hummingbirds and small monkeys moving among the surrounding trees. Unfortunately we were too busy visiting Rio´s many attractions to make use of the beautiful pool and lounge area so we will have to come back soon. Highly recommended.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: the property is wonderful. great location. friendly staff, helped us with all our questions, reserved restaurants for us. breakfast was amazing every morning! you feel as if you are home with family.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place exceeded my expectations. The grounds were well-kept, clean, and immaculate - from the public spaces to the landscaping, everything was stylized and beautiful, breakfast was fresh, filling, delicious, and varied each morning, the room was very comfortable and stylish and felt more like a little flat, the hosts were incredibly accomodating and very much in-tune with their guests' needs, the location was walking distance from the Lapa but also to the very charming neighborhood of Santa Teresa, I can't wait to stay here again and highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the Santa Teresa neighborhood.
Cons: nothing!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: great pool, nice location, best breakfast in brazil, amazing garden
Cons: - view is good but towards the city. there are better views in Santa Teresa. - we could not do an early checkin despite that the hotel/ hostel was empty
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A beautiful, quiet property located in the middle of a tropical garden (jungle?) often frequented by little wild monkeys which we could feed by hand. Outstanding, plentiful breakfast filled with personal touch from the owners Gabriel and Claudio (e.g. our personal birthday cakes made by Claudio). Beautiful views over the downtown Rio, including the charming infinity pool. All was working perfectly (AC, wifi, hot water). We have received extreme support from Claudio and Gabriel, including expediting our covid test which was required for traveling back. Claudio has found and booked all the tours we wanted to take and had plenty of great suggestions. Wonderful place with such a nice, caring and hard working owners. Thank you so much Claudio and Gabriel!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Despite these uncertain times, both Gabriel and Claudio welcomed us into their oasis in the middle of Santa Teresa. The breakfast is the best we have had at any hotel/B&B - fresh fruit, smoothies, yoghurt, eggs, avocado, cheese, cake... The property has a lovely swimming pool, a fantastic view of the city and lovely hosts! You can also enjoy the entertainment that comes with hand feeding the Marmoset monkeys that live in the grounds. If you are in RIO then please support this independent business - it definitely lives up to its 9.8 rating on Booking.com.
Cons: There isn’t anything not to like.
Excellent 10.0
Really beautiful position with excellent decor and ambiance. The dedication of the owners let you always feel very welcomed. Perfect helpful staff who go above and beyond what is in their job description. Very welcoming hosts and looked after us very well, film star treatment. They made us feel safe and comfortable during our stay. The rooms and the whole property are in a excellent shape and you feel that the owners take care of any little detail. Each has beautiful detail and the designs are outstanding. It is always a highlight to stay in Casa Geranio and receive the excellent breakfast. I would book definitely a second time at Casa Geranio.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Really enjoyed our stay at Mama Ruisa on a recent visit to Rio. The facilities were amazing including the beautiful hotel in general, the main areas, the swimming pool. Our room was massive with amazing. Imagine waking up to the sound of birds, opening your double doors to expansive views of the bay, eating a delicious continental breakfast on your private terrace. So incredible. Mainly worked with Thierry there, who spoke great English and was so warm, welcoming, and polite. The area is filled to the brim with local character with great food around. Different vibe compared to Ipanema and Copocabana but this was a positive for us as it gave us a different perspective on Rio. Much closer to centro as well.
Cons: Nothing - shower didn't have a seal on the door which made the floor a little wet while showering. Also would have them take the shower head out a little because basically had to stand right against the wall to get the full shower water.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This was one of our favorite hotels we have ever stayed at. The building is a gorgeous old mansion that is beautifully decorated, and with open spacious rooms. The view is absolutely stunning and the service is impeccable. We loved it so much that we booked a return trip on our last day!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: excellent property and very professional staff. exceptional view and nice facilities around. should I come back to Santa Teresa, I will definitely go back to this hotel
Cons: maybe an additional light is needed in the room
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing stylish villa! Amazing team! Just a dream…

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Have you ever been invited to the local bar party by your hotel manager? Barbara is just beyond usual hospitality term. For her it's just a norm to be with people in Casa da Gente. She helped me with Uber, with the best attractions routes, she is absolutely adorable person! Great view from the terrace, really! The breakfast is much better than in my previous 4 stars hotel in Copacabana. Dozens of interesting decoration things around (from a local designer). Barbara is from Argentina and I have a feeling she loves telling about her country and culture. So, if you wanna listen real and nice stories about Argentina or life in Rio - have some time with her! The room is very clean, cozy. My bed was very comfortable! Good smelling space around, testy tea, coffee. In the evenings have some time with Brazilians, have a drink and try to learn some words and phrases in Portuguese. I do believe most of Casa da Gente guests are very nice and open people because Barbara is a great one!
Cons: I divided my Rio time into two different hotels to stay. And I would better stay all 4 days in Rio with Casa da Gente and Barbara! 😁
Good 7.0
Pros: The breakfast and garden
Cons: The room smelled like gasoline.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great common area. Good location to explore centro, gloria, lapa and Santa teresa. Amazing staff! Great view of the city. Overall great vibe.
Cons: The room (the one with private bathroom) was next to the dinning room, so it was super noisy. Nevertheless, I am pretty sure that if I would have said something they would have change it. A bit far from the best beaches.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was good! Barbara is great. Heart warming. Funny. Class A. The view is the added bonus!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Our host, Barbara is the most attentive and adorable person I ever met. We were so greatful for her to guide us through everything . The place itself looks like an artistic loft, the rooftop terrace is unique and the views are amazing. The breakfast was also the best we had during our 2 months trip in Brazil. We loved the area, much more charming than Copacabana, we felt really in the heart of Rio. We ll be back 🙏
Excellent 10.0
Pros: - very lovely staff :) Barbara takes care of you very well! - very good breakfast - great little garden where you have a lot of sun until the late afternoon - very quiet street - good Wifi

Pros: What a beautiful house! We highly recommend to stay in this gorgeous house if you visit Rio. The villa is located in a quiet & save street, but still very close to bars & restaurants. We travelled with our 2 small kids, and the people there were so welcoming & friendly with the 2 kids. We stayed in the 4 bed room, which have 4 single beds. They are very comfortable, but a very tall person will have his feet hanging over the bed :-). But for us it was perfect! We will defenately return!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Exceptional hospitality. Generous, spacious, truly beautiful. I was incredibly impressed by the service I received.
Cons: Excellent place, excellent service up the good work 👌🏽
Good 7.0
Pros: Breakfast is a bit poor. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The gentleman that was in charge was very polite.
Cons: BIG ants in the bathroom; the room was not super clean.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Loved the feel of the place. Essentially staying is someone’s grand home with a shared breakfast with the other guests in the morning.
Cons: It’s not a hotel so not everything is perfect

Cons: not applicable.
Excellent 10.0
Apart from being very close to the SDU airport this hotel was very welcoming making sure I could manage with my young children and we had a comfortable stay, breakfast was very good, a member of staff even walked us to the airport helping with my bags as it’s so close, looking forward to our next stay.
Excellent 10.0
Location of the hotel was good being close to the centre of Rio De Janeiro. Also there are trams within walking distance which will take you to the centre. The hotel is part of a mall and has direct access to the Santos Dumont Airport. Great option for a short stay or a business trip in Rio. Personnel was friendly and helpful. Special thanks for Dilma and Thiago at the reception. The room has a modern boutique concept with comfy bed. Nice view from my room on the third floor facing the Guanabara Bay, Sugar Loaf and the Corcovado statue at the hill top. Pleasant breakfast experience at the Roof top where the swimming pool is located. Will return on my next stay in Rio

Excellent 10.0
I was for the second year in a row. It has a very good location for those arriving and departing from Santos Dumont, near the center, Marina da Gloria, etc. Despite this, it is advisable not to walk around before 8 am or after 6 pm. The staff that works is warm and attentive. The hotel is located a few meters from the airport so it makes it very convenient if one has an early morning flight. It is located so close to the airport that I chose it because of the proximity to the return flight. It does not serve to use as a base to go to the beach. It has a small restaurant that closes at night and a bar open almost exclusively for drinking 24 hours.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Acomodações.
Cons: Confirmações de reserva.
Excellent 10.0
The huge smiles & warm welcome from the Receptionist & staff set the tone, right from the very start, and they were all so helpful & courteous. Outstanding location, 5 minutes walk to Santos Dumont airport. Typical low IBIS price, which is hard to find nowadays. Close to Cinelandia train station which is a good way to get to Ipanema beach. Clean and functional. The room was clean and it was easy to check into the hotel. The area was quiet so I had a good nights sleep after a long journey. The best mattress and pillows in a hotel ever. Everything worked out very well.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We were spending a week in Rio and this was the last out of the 3 hotel stays during our trip. we had to catch an early flight the next day so we booked this hotel due to the location. Boy were we surprised. staff extremely courteous, provided us with a free room upgrade upon arrival, our bed could not be more comfortable, and the room was so big for a hotel room. highly recommend to anyone traveling to rio and want comfort and to be by the airport for a decent price.
Cons: the breakfast didn’t lack quantity but it lacked quality.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Service was pretty good at the lobby and bar. It was a good balance between price and need
Poor 1.0
Cons: Worse experience ever! I told them that I would be arriving around 9pm, however my flight was delayed and I ended up arriving at the hotel 1am to find out that they had given my room up for someone since 1pm ( well before the time that I was meant to arrive).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Front Desk Courtesy & Location
Cons: n/a
Good 7.0
Pros: Catien in the reception welcomed us. She handled our stay in hotel, our tour in Rio. She was really helpful and cheerful
Mediocre 2.0
Pros: the novohotel has down grade the quality of the rooms, common area and breakfast. breakfast very poor and very expensive Old rooms, air condition in common areas off during Summer. Air condition of the room broken, not working. The walls, sofa and curtains were with marks. Very old, noisy and uncomfortable bed and pillows.
Cons: bed, old rooms, bed was BAD

Good 7.0
Pros: Breakfast was good overall. I believe there could have been a better selection of juicy and fruits, but the ones they offered were of good quality. The room is big enough to accommodate many people at once.
Cons: The room I had could use some TLC: one of the wall is battered and it was poorly patched, and there are nicks and dents here and there which jump to the eye. The spring mattress isn't suitable for people who don't deal well with soft mattresses.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: location is great everything is close in the city center. The rooftop has amazing view !
Cons: breakfast is not good no have many options, the products are bad quality.
Okay 5.2
You can get tempted by the location and good rates, but this is not a hotel I would recommend. Dirty rooms, black mold in bathrooms, no security at entrance, noise from neighbours, elevator stopping, so 19 floors full hotell on only one elevator at most times, horrible breakfast, no service, shower with little pressure and even less hot water. My stay here got cut short because of all this. The lack of comfort and ability to sleep in this shitty hotel made me move to Ibis centro that was ten times better, so my advice is STAY AWAY from Atlantico business.
Excellent 10.0
Excellent hotel, comfort, courteous and polite attendants. breakfast with plenty of variety. the price of the room was very good, well below the market and with quality. Great location and rooms with comfort and clean. small pool on the terrace but very inviting for a relax. The hotel is old but its facilities are relatively well maintained. I stayed in a room on the sixth floor overlooking an internal courtyard with other windows. I think the room with windows facing the street should look better. The breakfast is very good, but as the hotel always has a lot of people, it gets a bit slow to replenish the food. The pool area is nice but very small. The internet worked well. As for cleanliness, I found it satisfactory.
Excellent 10.0
Perfectly located in the historical center, which is walkable to Lapa area was superb Value for money, clean room and big bathroom. The view from terrace is fantastic A beautiful break first buffet. Everything was really just fine. Marcelo was particularly helpful in giving us advice on how to get to the various attractions and it really helped that his English is so good as our Brazilian Portuguese is almost nil. The breakfast was superb, everything, including healthy stuff such as Aromatized Water and Detox Juice. Overall it's a fantastic experience. Nothing to complain about.
Excellent 9.7
The location of the hotel was great if you are staying in the Centro area, close to the SDU airport, the reception staff were friendly and spoke good English. The rooms were clean and tidy, everything worked as they should, breakfast was great and variety was impressive, good views of the city from the roof top.

Excellent 8.0
Cons: WiFi
Good 7.0
Pros: I did like the bed. It was kind of comfortable. Simple, and the sheets smelled great, other than other hotels in that area
Cons: the place the hotel was in. It was Rio, and there's a lot of criminals around. I felt like the property wasn't safe enough, and then I couldn't get to sleep.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Close to Rio the Janeiro Downtown.
Cons: The room was not in the hotel, but in a building besides it. The building was old, but the room very clean and new.
