When visiting San Sebastian de la Gomera, it’s well worth it to hire a small compact car, to help with some of the tight, winding turns in the city and around the island. There are some mountain roads with some sharp bends that could prove trickier in a larger vehicle, so compact cars can help you manoeuvre a little easier. The bonus that comes with a smaller car is it comes in handy when finding parking spaces on the street.

Speed limits can vary on the island, depending on where you are driving. For instance, once you’re out of the city, country roads and highways have a speed limit of 90 km/h: however, within the built-up areas of towns and San Sebastian de la Gomera itself, you’ll need to abide by the strict speed limit of 50 km/h. In the city centre, there’s not much chance you’ll even get to drive this fast, due to the busy and tight roads.

For car hire in San Sebastian de la Gomera, it’s important to know where the best places are to park in the city.
