Hotel is a renovated 2 star. Was given room furthest from the elevator (felt like I was in the shining). Comfortable beds good furnishings but some of the old hardware was left behind. If you know about 4 star hotels, this would be 3 star at best.

Pros (+) Rooms were fine. Hotel was clean.
Cons (-) Reception and bar service awful. Card keys did not work. A/C stopped working. Small, crowded lobby. Shattuck area is not inviting.

Cons (-) They focus so much on helping each customer as much as possible, that several of us stood waiting at the check in desk for a really long time while one obnoxious customer waxed poetic about all the things he wanted to do while he was in Berkeley.
