Pros:
Simple yet nice hostel, conveniently located near the airport and bus station that will take you to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Also minutes away from the ticket office for Tianmen Mountain National Park, where you can either take a shuttle bus or cable car. The woman running the place was also very nice and very accommodating, she let me check in on my own as I had a late arrival and the staff had already gone to bed.
Cons:
A bit hard to find at night...

Pros:
It's not far from the cable car and old train station. The room was decent - not fancy, old, but clean. The neighborhood is very quiet, although you can sometimes hear airplanes passing. We haven't met the owner (they were away and we communicated by text wechat), but they let us check out late as we had a lot of luggage that we couldn't care around, which was very helpful. Our room had a kettle and a hairdryer, which means to me a lot when I travel.
Cons:
Cups in room might be useful, and not a big expense for the hostel.

Pros:
The room is big and clean. The staff is responsive and helpful. Suggested us hikes around the national park. They let us store our luggage there and we could even take a shower in the evening before getting on the nighttrain.
Cons:
It leaked from the shower into the room. It was very cold in the room since the windows are not airtight. Also you can hear the noise from the street since the windows are so bad. Fortunately the road is not busy and it didnt bother our sleep.

Pros:
They were really flexible about me leaving my large luggage bag at the hostel while I spent a 4 days in Wulingyuan. Convenient location.
Cons:
The map provided of the Zhangjiajie National Park was not as straigh-forward as the ones you receive in Wulingyuan area. I paid 2 yuan for their map but did not end up using it.

Pros:
Good location, lovely staff, common area was pleasant. Excellent aircon.
Cons:
The bathroom for the 4-person room is a) also the bathroom for anyone using the bar/cafe/public area and b) has one of those common Chinese showers that isn't separated from the rest of the bathroom by any kind of partition, so the whole bathroom floor is always wet and therefore, because of the heavy traffic, always filthy.

Pros:
Good common area on the ground floor
Cons:
Booked for two nights but they could only give me one night. They did a good job of relocating me a few doors down the street for the same price, however would have preferred to stay at geographer as the reason I booked them was because of the common area

Pros:
As far as hotels go, this one is average. Tucked in with a bunch of other hotel/hostels, it’s an easy walk from the train/bus stations. This makes it attractive for early or late departure/arrival. You can get to Tianmen Mountain very easily and then just walk to bus station for transportation to the forrest park. My double room was clean but Spartan. The shower leaked and the floor wasn’t done properly so the water would pool rather than drain. The common area has a few things but not all that much. Basically it’s a good place if you need a good price option and just want somewhere to sleep.
