Pros: Location was near the station (5-10 min walk). Several shops and restaurants nearby. Front desk provided good restaurant and drinking place recommendations.

Cons: Given it is a chain hotel, this branch lived up to its expectation, so I don't have much to say.

Pros: Great location, near the art museum, park and a mall. Had a nice chicken hotpot at the nearby mall. Was not able to book a seat for dinner in hotel this time. Apparently local people also enjoyed its restaurant!

Pros: Wonderful location with an outstanding breakfast. The construction was a problem but they seemed to have solved all of the problems. If there was an onsen, it would be perfect. We will go back.

Pros: Clean and spacious rooms, close to all points of interest (e.g. museums, park, etc.) 10 minutes walk from the Akita train station; there is a bus station just in front of the hotel. They have a CheckOut machine, so you do not have to interact with the hotel staff for your CheckOut.

Cons: Be ware if it is snowing, might be difficult to get there by foot if you are carrying a wheeled luggage. I think using a password on the WiFi connection would be safer.

Pros: Onsen pretty good even through it’s not new. Breakfast pretty nice that comes with a traditional Japanese set with a mini hot pot (radish soup) and basic American buffet for western food. We stayed on top level 5. We took a very big Japanese room that can accommodate 6 paxs. View is great since it’s winter time, everywhere covered with snow.

Cons: Location not convenient especially without much restaurants available. Due to location, we didn’t go for a snow festival that we originally planned to. Wifi really lousy, only at the lobby or onsen area are ok. Need to bring room’s towels to onsen area. Price is also on the high end.

Pros: The onsen was accessible by bus from JR Akita Station. Take the Onsen line and get off at Onsen Iriguchi then walk a about 100m. Once you step in, you will forget you were even in a city. The staff went out of their way to assist me. Food was good. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The entire place had a great traditional Jaspanese feel to it. I cannot sing enough praises about the bath. Try the outdoor one at least once in the winter. It's definitely an experience you cannot miss!

Cons: I couldn't book dinner through Booking.com and when I arrived at the property I was told that there was a cutoff time for booking dinner which I didn't make because of a late flight. I wish there was an option to do this online.

Pros: Spacious clean room, and great onsen which is really enjoyable. I like this location too for my pilgrimage because it is only 2 km from Seitai Hoshikai which houses the chapel where a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary wept many times for several years in the 70's. The hotel offers a great breakfast with large selection of food.

Cons: Only size M and L of the Japanese robe are provided in the room. I hope it provides small size as well because it is clumsy for a small person to wear overly long robe.

Pros: We planned to use Akita as our base for day trips to the historic samurai village of Hakunodate and to Lake Tazawa, but the Route-Inn Grantia turned out to be a destination of its own. The staff was friendly (though I was glad to be able to speak Japanese), the service impeccable, and our room small but meticulously clean and well appointed (toiletries and tea provided; towels and jinbei for the onsen changed daily). Our floor featured a coin laundry and a vending machine with cup noodles. A Japanese breakfast buffet with a range of options is available for purchase for 850 yen/day, even if you don't include it in your reservation. I also highly recommend the restaurant on the premises, which serves a delicious rendition of the Akita specialty kiritanpo. Make sure to save time for the onsen! There are a variety of baths of different temperatures, both indoors and out.

Cons: There aren't many dining options around the hotel; you may want to either eat at the hotel restaurant or closer to Akita Station.

Cons: There is a fair bit of walking to the property area from the JR station considering the fact that to catch train or bus you need to come to the JR station. Other than that the stay was nice and it was comfortable.

Cons: The room was a bit smaller than other APAs I have stayed in, and the bed harder/more uncomfortable than previous experiences. We picked this hotel because it was the cheapest but it's also the farthest away from the station, restaurants and bars. There is a massive step up into the bathroom so I wouldn't suggest if you have mobility issues. I think the hotel is a bit old which is fine, but the carpet is very lightly colored so you can see every stain that it has acquired which was a bit gross.

Cons: I wish there had been more than 2 clothes hangers in the room; the one and only English language TV channel froze on day 3; I wish the hotel had the eco-friendly option of asking guests if they needed complete housekeeping service (not necessary to change bed linen - and certainly the bath robe - and even towels every day...), also maybe providing recycling bins on each floor so guests can dispose of their rubbish appropriately...
