Saddest staff in reception I have ever met, no information about anything
The receptionist lady with a small dog, despite there being a lack of understanding between her Polish and our English, was very kind and friendly.
The receptionist the day before charged us for a triple room (which was €12 more) but when giving us the keys, we were to discover it was a double room. There were no towels. The room was incredibly hot throughout the night as there were no fans. It’s not in the city centre, it’s aT least a half hour walk to get to any of the sites. I would definitely not recommend this hostel as it’s overpriced and the facilities are pretty bad.
The only saving grace for this place was the absolutely lovely lady we met in the morning. Very friendly, happy, a pleasure to chat with. The bathrooms were lovely looking but not very well equipped - men's was missing hand soap and neither had a towel to dry your hands with.
We were met by a curt staff member who just seemed to want to get rid of us. She threw us the room keys after payment, didn't even say where the room was, didn't say anything about checking out. Oh, and she curtly told us to go to an ATM cause they don't accept card. We found the notice stating checkout times along with a notice stating prices for the rental of each individual luxury, ranging from a kettle (€10) to cutlery (50c). Nothing mentioned food so we assumed breakfast was not an option. The room was tiny but that's alright, it was on par with the price. The problem was how terribly HOT it was! You could barely breathe! The window was obviously closed all day, we had to open it for the night to be able to sleep at all, with no covers because they were way too thick for a hot summer night. Sleeping with the window open was hell because, as it turns out, it's right by the tram line. An insanely loud tram line. So that was a choice between suffocating in the heat or getting woken up every time a tram passed by.
The most thing I like was the distance to the town centre and a quite massive car park behind the building.
Share bathrooms and toilets
Plenty hot water. Good bus and tram links.
Bedsheets torn. Toilets unclean with no toilet paper in one and sandpaper in the other. Showers dirty, one even had excrement on the floor. At least the water was hot. Internet very unreliable but perseverance pays off. The echoing corridor is a nightmare in the evenings. Other (long term) residents will drink cheap alcohol, cook and make noise right outside your room. Smoke will enter your room from the toilets/corridor. Only got them to give up by irritating them with loud bagpipe music from my phone. This is an overpriced doss house, make no mistake. Don’t say you weren’t warned!
