Superb
Very nice and comfortable room. Centrally located. Great breakfast from a roof terrasse.
Just the check in procedure is somewhat disturbing since you need to walk to another hotel that is situated close by.
We're always a little nervous about booking any sort of "guesthouse," but Casa do Bairro put all those worries to rest. For our entire 6 night stay, we marveled at the fact that this hotel is priced how it is. The staff is first rate; not only did Sophia and Tania give us incredible recommendations for the rest of our stay in Portugal, but our chats with them during the afternoons became the highlight of our time in Lisbon. We can honestly say we left the city with new friends thanks to them! The rooms were impeccable and turned over every day. The breakfast rivaled that of the 5-star hotel we came from in Spain, so the fact that it's included is incredible. The WiFi was also wonderful. This stay was the first time in a long time we could both do remote work and stream Netflix. Don't hesitate for a second before booking this place... it's awesome!
Absolutely zero complaints! :)

Friendly staff, good breakfast, feeling at home, good value for money
We actually stayed at the Casa do Patio the sister guesthouse to Bairro as the Bairro was having works done so this review is for the Patio. We had a wonderful stay made even more special by the staff. Tomáz, Tania, Diogo, and not forgetting Tania (cook always with a smile) all made us feel extremely welcome. Very very helpful, friendly people who spent time getting to know us. We could not ask for more. The accommodation was fab and the staff were the best.
Only issue we had was not being able to hook up the shower head. We found this a bit inconvenient as we are used to standing in a shower ‘hands free’ but by no means did it spoil our stay.
Onetime they forgot to clean the room...
towels looked dirty. Floor felt sticky. Hairs in toilet Sheets were very clean.
overall cleanliness of room
Everything was really good

Delicious breakfast with lots of variety and home made items. Eggs cooked exactly as you asked Very good service and Friendly hosts. We will recommend to friends. The area was quirky and quiet but on a steep hill and wouldn’t suit folk with restricted mobility.
I would have liked a kettle in bedroom.
We loved EVERYTHING about Casa do Bairro. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really good (especially the ovos mexidos !!!!). We loved the homely atmosphere and the freedom to make hot drinks at any time we wished. They looked after our baggage for us on the last day after official check out (and invited us to enjoy yet more hot drinks and use the facilities before we set off for the airport in the evening). They all speak fluent English but were patient with me when I attempted a few words in Portuguese. It is worth making the effort to walk up the hill to the Miradoura de Santa Caterina - the views are wonderful - fabulous in the sunshine and awesome as the dark clouds rolled up the River Tagus. Seeing the head, shoulders and outstretched arms of the Cristo Rei statue emerge through a gap in the clouds, and then watch it being enveloped in cloud again a minute later, is an experience I will never forget !
The staff at Casa do Barrio are so lovely!! They were so helpful to use in finding our way around Lisbon and helped us to organize a taxi to the airport early in the morning, plus these rooms are so spacious and comfortable, we would highly recommend to everyone to stay here!
.Breakfast was great. The fresh baked pastries were delicious! The staff is friendly and eager to recommend various restaurants and explain the city. Also, it was great to drink tea in the evening.
It was hard to find. Perhaps the website could give clearer directions.
The location was great! The property is very charming. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was helpful.
I didn’t have hot water in the shower for 3 days. I got another room on the last night but the shower wasn’t working, I had to take a bath. Beside that, I had a wonderful stay.
Property was in a good location. Close enough to walk to the main places but far enough so it’s not noisy. Rooms were spacious. Breakfast was great; variety of fruits, yogurt, breads, pastries, cereals, and you can order eggs your style. Staff was AMAZING!! Had to leave early to catch a flight and no breakfast available so they packed a small “picnic” breakfast with a cheese sandwich, juice, fruit and a little pastry.
Nothing bad I can say about the place.
The property is in a residential area, quiet, away from the city bustle yet a lovely 10-15 minute walk from the city center. Loved the decor, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Breakfast was delicious , with cooked to order eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel arranged airport pick up in advance and it all went smoothly. I would stay here again!
No complaints.
Excellent breakfast provided, good orientation to the city
Tough to find at first
Diogo who met us was superb and spent real time and effort introducing us to Lisbon, which kickstarted our holiday. They also gave us a fantastic room with a view straight down to the river from a wonderful balcony. Also really delicious and generous breakfasts that set us up for full days exploring.
Really nothing!
Loved the location. Staff were fantastic on hand at all times with super local information. Excellent breakfast and very quiet at night.
Nothing really.
The staff is super kind and the welcome was just perfect: they gave us suggestion and many information. The room is beautiful, the bed is comfortable and there is everything you need in the bathroom (shampoo, soap, body cream, hairdryer...). There is a little nice terrace, an adorable cat that loved to visit us and the coffee/tea/fruit/ always available:) The breakfast is good and there is a lot of variety of really good homemade cakes, jams, different cereal, fruits, yogurt, bread, fresh cuts, cheeses... Perfect!
Great stay in a cosy room. Staff is great and friendly, will give you all the tips to visit Lisbon
The staff is very friendly and so helpful. It was almost like a familiar atmosphere :)
We were very impressed with the hosts, they took good time (around 15 minutes) to explain the map of Lisbon and recommend attractions and restaurants and gave us tips on the public transport. This was really helpful! The breakfast was great! Big room with air con. Quiet area but not too far from town. They also helped us with luggage storage before check-in and after check-out.
The property is on a steep hill. Every day we ended up with a towel less than a day before, and the toilet rolls weren't replaced when we nearly ran out. Had to request more just to get enough supplies.
Hotel staff were friendly, the room was comfortable with coffee available. The breakfast was simple but good with local fresh pastries. Reasonably well located as if was not far from the Mercado.
The signage made the property a little difficult to find. We actually walked past it the first time.
Friendly and helpful staff
Bit of a scramble to get breakfast, not really enough space if several appeared at the same time. Very steep slope to get there, but that’s Lisbon
We enjoyed the location in Lisbon. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious!
The breakfast was amazing. And the staff was super helpful.
Very nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast with your own choice of eggs. Fresh vegetables, fruits and cakes. Relatively central location with nice restaraunts nearby.
location and breakfast service were amazing. All staff were very professional and friendly . I would stay here again if I visit lisbon in the future
Since it is a old building, it makes loud noise whenever bathroom is used. Also, it has some drainage issue in shower
Breakfasts were great!
The ceiling in our room was low in two areas, and we hit our heads a few times
Breakfast pretty good. Freshly cooked eggs. Exceptionly helpful and friendly staff. Large, very comfortable bed. Decent view of the river Tagus.
Not much. However it was dissapointing that, among the many TV chanels, there wer no English news services. Also, the room could have done with more than one armchair.
The staff was amazing, great location, cute room, AMAZING breakfast. Loved it!
Friendly professional staff; large clean rooms with character and located just a 10 minute walk from a metro station
Accommodations were very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and very helpful in restaurant suggestions and transportation. Breakfast was very nice with a variety of options and a really good coffee machine. Location is only slightly out of the main area, but this is an advantage as is it quiet!
A little bit hard to find. Within a closed street area, so Uber cannot get all the way to the door, but Taxi's can.
Perfect Location near the center of the city but far enough to enjoy quiet nights. Personnel in the front desk is AWESOME. Good recommendations all the time, an eager to solve any problem someone can have. I strongly recommend this guesthouse.
Excellent breakfast; lots of choice. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean and bright and bigger than we had anticipated.
Location was a little too hilly for my disabled wife...but the hotel is in Lisbon!
Staff was very friendly. Clean, beautiful room. Nice and tasty breakfast. 24/7 free coffee, tea
This really is fantastic-beautiful room, incredibly friendly staff and a delicious breakfast!!
Great location and staff, who went out of their way to orient us to Lisbon and make us comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent - there were so many choices. Great bread, cereal, fruit, cake, eggs, cheese, meat, etc etc.
Nothing, it was excellent. Lisbon is VERY hilly so it is a slog to get up and down to the guest house but it is worth it.
Breakfast good, staff excellent, room not so good. Half the room was low ceiling which we kept bumping our heads. A little noise at night when window was open. No fans
Room and location was hard to get too for Uber’s and taxis
Breakfast good, staff excellent, room not so good. Half the room was low ceiling which we kept bumping our heads. A little noise at night when window was open. No fans
Room and location was hard to get too for Uber’s and taxis
Nice GH with excellent staff....
Breakfast good, staff excellent, room not so good. Half the room was low ceiling which we kept bumping our heads. A little noise at night when window was open. No fans
Room and location was hard to get too for Uber’s and taxis
This hidden gem, very close to attractions and major transport links, was the perfect place to stay. In a beautifully converted, really interesting building, the rooms are a great size and very comfortable, with good facilities. It is extremely well run, with lovely, friendly staff. The breakfast, which is included, is also a fine start to the day.
We stayed in two rooms - 102 could not be better, but the bathroom in 103 is too small and the shower set-up is ill conceived and you cannot avoid soaking the floor.
Everything! Breakfast amazing, bedroom very good! Location fantastic! Staff super friendly and helpful!!

Location was very good. Close to most tourist spots, restaurants and bars.
Hard to sleep past 8 am due to reception noise and creaking hallway floors as guests leave. Wifi nonexistent in room, poor signal strength and dropping out.
Everything for breakfast was delicious. We found all of the staff to be helpful and did the best they could to answer our questions. Room was extremely comfy and had a great view!
Nothing wrong with the location, but was a bit difficult to find- be sure you know where you’re going!
Very friendly staff, great location and lovely environment.
Very good choice of cereals, meats, cheese and pastries. Asked each day if we would like a scrambled, fried or poached egg. Good coffee as well. Also never felt rushed so able to take your time if needed.N
Nothing really. We just had a very good stay.
An unique building in an excellent location in old part of town. Excellent spacious room with interesting decor and brilliant bathroom. Very helpful staff, gave lots of useful information. Good breakfast with fresh juice, buffet and freshly cooked eggs.
Nothing as everything was good.
The breakfast was good and the location was good for us too. We only at there once, but the service from the staff was also very nice. Upon our arrival, Diogo, was very welcoming, friendly, and professional. He explained everything in a clear and concise way about our room, the hotel, and the area. We enjoyed Lisbon very much and would recommend friends to stay at Casa do Bairro.
There was nothing that I didn't like.
Great breakfast
Me and my husband are in our 30s and look for places that are a good value... we are on a budget so don’t want anything too fancy, but we look for something nicer than a hostel. Casa Do Bairro was PERFECT for us... the guesthouse nature of it made it somewhere in between a bed and breakfast, and a small hotel. The customer service was wonderful. Sofia and João were EXCELLENT hosts. João checked us in and gave us great advice for our short stay in Lisbon. Sofia helped us during the day... while eating an excellent complimentary breakfast (coffee, homemade pastries, quiche, eggs made to order, delicious fresh squeezed OJ, etc) I asked for help in calling a restaurant to confirm our reservation for that evening. She did it for us without hesitation, knowing there could be a language barrier. The next day, we had to check out at 7am so would miss breakfast.... they packed us food and drinks to-go!!! They truly went the extra mile. The place was extremely clean and all updated - it’s NOT a place that only looks good in pictures but feels cheap when you get there. It’s very modern but also feels true to Lisbon. Lastly, the location was very good for us. It’s in a quiet area, about 10-15 minute walk from Bairro Alto where lots of bars and restaurants are, and under a 10 minute walk to one of the 28 tram stops, the best Pastéis da Nata in the city, etc. Note that like anything in Lisbon, it requires walking up hills. I would recommend Casa do Bairro as a wonderful place to stay in Lisbon!!
Very tasteful decor, large bathroom, free upgrade.
Few days before the arrival we got and an email, that the would like to offer us an upgraded and move us to another place. So at the end we stayed at their's sister hotel - Casa Do Patio By Shiadu. As the owner is the same, I would expect, that accommodation all over the Shiadu group is a good experience and nice place to stay during exploring Lisbon. The stuff was friendly and helpful.
The accommodation was simply amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful, trying to fulfill all of our requests. We were offered a free walking tour of the city thanks to which we saw parts of the town we would otherwise not get to see. We'd highly recommend everyone staying in the hotel going on the tour!
nothing
The staff was wonderful and very helpful
The wooden door entry was impossible for Me to open
Great location, staff very nice and helpful
Breakfast only from 8 am
The bed was comfy and my room was so spacious and had a great view. breakfast buffet was really yummy and nice variety of things to try.
The coffee! The machine coffee is very average
The location was great. The guesthouse itself had character with lovely rooms and comfortable beds. Plus all rooms and corridors had interesting paintings/art produced by local artists. The breakfasts were also very satisfying offering a range of fruits, pastries , crepes and eggs. A truly lovely place.
As an avid coffee drinker I thought the coffee facilities could have been better.
Staff! Showed us best places to eat and where to go. Was very friendly and supportive
Water Boiler was very load, everytime someone took a shower you could hear how it turned on and off.
Everything
Hosts especially helpful in suggesting things to do and places to visit. They directed us to a terrific restaurant!
Can't think of anything.
The location was great and the staff was very friendly.
It can be extremely noisy at night. Our room was on the first floor, which was accessed by an interior hallway. We were woken up several times each night by loud guests returning back to the hotel during the later hours.
Jorge, the manager, was excellent! Very personable and gave us great suggestions for restaurants and things to do and how to get there. Breakfast was good, with choice of eggs. Coffee and pastries were available all day.
Breakfast, shower, bed and room all great.
Great staff who gave a tips to get around and reserved restaurants for us. Nice room and ambiente.
The floor was not cleaned when we checked in. balcony door lock was broken and didn't close properly.
The room was beautiful, the staff amazingly friendly and very uncomplicated.
For me the bed/mattress was a little too hard. But that is my individual feedback which might not apply to others.
Staff was very friendly, morning pastries were delicious.
Everything was good at the facility. Getting to the front door with luggage was a bit inconvenient (uphill walk on private drive, then down steps), but a staff member helped once he saw me struggling.
The room was very nice! Very stylish and comfortable. The whole building was clean and nice smell! Placed in a very good area close to the attractions of the city, train & naval station but also enough away from the main street so to have quite rest. This room just made my holidays better! In love with Lisbon.
Nice place, great location and delicious breakfast
Staff very helpful and welcoming. Rooms clean and very comfortable, large beds. Excellent breakfast. Located perfectly for a Lisbon discovery trip.
I have a wheat allergy and got gluten-free crepes for breakfast. Best breakfast for me so far in Portugal.
We had a truly wonderful stay here! The staff were all SO friendly and helpful and they even prepared us special vegan crêpes and hot soy milk for our coffee!! Lovely little selection of fruit and ...
Everything perfect - staff, delicious breakfast, room and place
Clean and cozy place. People were nice and responsive. Area was good.
Wasn’t easy to find. A lot of steep stairs. The room was very uncomfortable - we couldn’t walk normally in the room. We bent down all the time and hit our heads in the ceiling. When we asked why the ...
Everything about this place was lovely. Staff are excellent and we were sorry we were only there for one night. Rooms are beautiful, comfortable and with great bathroom. Easy walk to good restaurants...
The fact that our stay was too short!
Staff, light, spacious room. Felt very homely. Good breakfast, freshly made. Real bed and breakfast style accommodation.
Lots of hills to walk in Porto but that has nothing to do with standard of hotel. Just difficult for anyone with mobility issues.
Everything.
Nothing
Definitely recommend this place. Staff was very kind, helpful and friendly.
If you like to sleep with open windows, there will be street noise. But the location is excellent.
The staff was excellent - very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated although a little noisy from the street. Getting to the hotel is a challenge if you rented a car like us but would be...
It was difficult to find and there was no signage. It would be difficult access for people with mobility challenges. There is no staff onsite after 9:00 pm.
Lots of helpful advice about what to see and how to get around. Our superior double room was fabulous. Breakfast was lovely. We would definitely stay there again.
All good!
Good team, atmosphere, clean, tasty breakfast,
Problems with auto parking.
Room was very spacious with a great view.
When water was running in the bathroom the pipes were very loud.
Loved the home made breakfast!! Probably the best we had in our travels in Portugal & Spain. Great location, close to everything we wanted to see. Must the the bed comfort a 10!
The only thing I could say is the pillows could be more comfortable, I don’t like foam!!
Staff were friendly, very nice breakfast
Very helpful staff.
It's a busy neighbourhood - expect noise at night.
Very friendly and helpful staff Breakfast excellent
Staff very friendly and helpful for first-time Lisbon visitors. Clean, well-appointed rooms. Good breakfast buffet with various types of food; eggs made upon request. Located in hilly neighborhood ...

The staff, the breakfast and the room.
The rooms are nice decorated and the breakfast is good. Friendly personnel and good location in lisboa
There is no "real" heating, like we know in Germanry, therefore the rooms are a bit "damp" when there is rain. But i guess this is generally the case in portugal..
Amazing spot- book without hesitation.
This place is awesome. The rooms are modest and charming. The people working there were super friendly and helpful for recommendations (special thanks to Claudia and Paolo). Location is extremely convenient. Nice and quiet but very close to all the action. Definitely hope to come back soon!
Honestly, loved it all.
