Hotel Basel

Excellent staff: everyone we met was very friendly and very helpful. Urim was particularly good and greeted us like old friends every time we appeared. A good start to our holiday. The location is very good, on a pedestrian street and near to the Market Place from which it was easy to get FREE trams to just about anywhere. (Free with the Basel card, but no one asked to see it anyway.) Breakfast was excellent in a calm quiet room with superb service for coffee tea etc., help yourself to the buffet. Comfortable beds. Large bathroom with large walk in shower. Non-slip shower mat provided on request.

The restaurant was far more upmarket than I'd expected and the menu didn't change while we were there, so only ate in it once. Despite being in a pedestrian street, there was a noisy gathering outside two out of three nights. Not the hotel's fault, but somewhat unexpected.

Excellent staff. Cleanest rooms I’ve seen in a long, long time. Exceptional location.

Nothing. I travel for a living and stay in mostly big brand chain hotels all over the world, this rivals all of them for its size.

room was big, bathroom was clean with a large shower and the bed was very comfortable. Staff arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 4:00 am and a wake up call for 3:00 am. Due to time of day checking out was a problem and we are waiting for a copy of our bill

checking out at 3:30 am was not easy
