When it comes to car hire in Redwood City, if you're planning to stick to the city and its suburbs, a small or mid-sized car is usually a good choice. These cars are fuel-efficient, easier to park in city spaces, and quite capable for city driving. However, if you're looking to explore the scenic coastal roads or the mountainous regions nearby, or if you're visiting in winter and planning to head to the snow, an SUV or a vehicle with all-wheel drive could be advantageous for their higher clearance and improved handling. Given Redwood City's location in the tech-forward Silicon Valley, you might consider opting for a hybrid or electric vehicle if you're interested in an environmentally friendly option.
The typical speed limit in Redwood City, California, is 25 mph. However, larger arterial roads might have speed limits set between 35-45 mph, while freeways, such as the nearby US 101 and I-280 could have speed limits ranging from 55 to 65 mph or possibly higher in some sections.
When it comes to parking, Redwood City is generally very straightforward, even for tourists. The Marshall Street Car Park offers the first 1.5 hours for free. After that, it's around $0.50 (£0.40) per hour, with a $12 (£9) maximum per day. Alternatively, the Jefferson Avenue Car Park also provides the first 1.5 hours for free. Again, it's $0.50 (£0.40) per hour, with a $12 (£9) daily maximum. Finally, if you're planning to take a day trip to San Francisco or San Jose, you might consider parking at the Redwood City Caltrain Station. Daily parking is around $5.50 (£4.20).

2.0 Poor
Jan 2020
Pros:
Nothing, they refuse to provide a rental car asking for the second driver to have a credit card or a debit card with two bills showing the residence address. Ridiculous, second driver should only need a driver license as long as I provide a major credit card. Enterprise is a complete nonsense - untrained employees.Cons:

We had to cancel because we needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle. They didn't even have one on the lot. When I called a Hertz nearby, not only did they have a 4 wheel drive available, but for $20 CHEAPER!2 locations in Redwood City

Aug 2017
Pros:
Car was cleanCons:
I added a day and the price went up by a third. When I then tried to change it back, the price was $50 higher for the same time period and they wouldn't honor the original rate. I wanted to cancel but the cancellation charge was also $50, so I felt stuck. Then the car I got was not I would say the same type as promised. Finally, when I dropped it off at some point a rock had hit the windshield, through no fault of my own as they recognized, but I still had to pay for that- on top of the car being more expensive than what I had originally signed up for, the value ended up being pretty terrible. And the franchisee did not care.9.6 Wonderful

Pros:
Staff was dressed nicely and were very nice.Cons:
When receiving the car i insisted that the tires were not inflated enough and they checked it with a dinky tire gauge... An few hours out of san francisco the tire went flat and i got stuck on the side of the road. Car was dirty and smelled like it wasnt even aired out after the last driver. Car had some gear issue at the end of the trip and kept over heating. It was very very expensive for the car i got.One location in Redwood City

Some Redwood City car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the hire price but not all of them. We recommend always be aware of your coverage when hiring a car in Redwood City.
Keep in mind that car hire insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your hire. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a no-deductible option to your Redwood City car hire.
