When to visit Chamonix

How to Get to Chamonix
Plane
Although Chamonix doesn’t have its own airport, you can fly to Chambéry (CMF), which is located 52 miles from Chamonix. The shortest flight to Chamonix from Ireland departs from Dublin and takes around 2h 10m.
Train
SNCF is the most popular train carrier serving Chamonix, followed by Trenitalia. The train journey from Chamonix to Marseille takes 1h 32m and costs around €10 for a one-way ticket. When coming by train from Chessy, expect to pay about €10 for a 2h 02m trip. Located 0.7 miles from the city centre, Chamonix Les Moussoux is the busiest station in Chamonix. Another popular train station is Chamonix Aiguille du Midi, located 0.3 miles from the centre.
Car
Another option to get to Chamonix is to pick up a car hire from Nice, which is about 154 miles from Chamonix. You’ll find branches of Goldcar Rental SP and Alamo, among others, in Nice.
Bus
Several bus lines operate bus routes to Chamonix, including FlixBus, BlaBlaBus and ALSA. From Mâcon, the bus ride to Chamonix takes 60 miles and will cost you around €8. From Chambéry, the ticket costs about €6 for a journey of 80 miles. Chamonix’s bus station is located 0.5 miles from the city centre.
